I Don’t Like to Be Kept Waiting IX

Was this how it was going to be, with these two, one seated and the other standing, facing off until dawn?

Just as Gu Qingcheng was trying to decide whether she should speak up and say something, anything, Tang Shi suddenly stood up and strode toward the bedroom that he always used, saying, "I'm tired."

Naturally, Gu Qingcheng knew what Tang Shi meant by those few words. Awkwardly, she followed behind Tang Shi. When they'd reached the doorway to his bedroom, Gu Qingcheng's hands clenched tightly into fists, and she felt pain as her nails cut into her palms.

For one full minute, Gu Qingcheng stood rooted to the floor at the entrance to the bedroom before she shut her eyes, gritted her teeth, and took her first step into the bedroom.

By that time, Tang Shi had already taken off his overcoat and was lounging casually on the side of the bed, staring at her intently.

Under that intense scrutiny, and despite being frightened, Gu Qingcheng walked timidly toward Tang Shi. She glanced quickly at him before lowering her eyes.

Tang Shi just sat there, not moving an inch, and looked at Gu Qingcheng.

After a long time, seeing no reaction whatsoever from Gu Qingcheng, Tang Shi stood up and said, "Gu Qingcheng, have you forgotten what I told you yesterday?"

Gu Qingcheng's head shot up immediately, and she looked at Tang Shi.

Looking at her through narrowed eyes, obviously annoyed, Tang Shi reminded her, "I said, if you serve me well and make me happy tonight, I'll let you join Sheng Tang as an employee tomorrow.

"As for how you should serve me, surely, even after having been away in the UK for three years, you couldn't have forgotten everything I taught you. I hope you're not expecting me to teach you all over again?"

Shuddering slightly, Gu Qingcheng's hands clenched into fists even more tightly.

She knew exactly what he meant when he talked about how she should serve him.

On that night, three years ago, he had told her while kissing her.

However, on that night, he'd spoken in a gentle tone with an underlying longing that couldn't be denied. That had been completely unlike tonight's callous demands.

Gu Qingcheng steeled herself and took two steps forward. With trembling hands, she began to undo Tang Shi's shirt, one button at a time.

Since Gu Qingcheng was a lot shorter than he was, Tang Shi lowered his eyes and stared at her.

Aware that he was staring at her, Gu Qingcheng's fingers began to shake a bit, and she could feel the increasing heat of his breath.

She desperately wanted to stop this, turn around, and walk away.

But she couldn't. Her family had harbored hopes that she'd be able to continue to prop up the family business and had bet everything on her. Even today, she could still remember the looks of disappointment in the eyes of her family members when, after a night of intimacy, Tang Shi didn't choose to marry her as they'd expected.

Therefore, it didn't matter how unwilling she was now. She just had to force herself to get on with it.

Ever since she'd been a little kid, she'd been forced to do a huge number of things that she didn't want to do nor liked doing. One more thing was really no big deal.

Keeping her eyes slightly lowered, Gu Qingcheng removed Tang Shi's shirt. Then, with her fingers shaking even more, she undid his belt. Then, despite repeating umpteen times to herself that she should bear with it and that it would be over soon enough, she just couldn't bring herself to unzip his pants.

Her fingers reached out, and she pulled them back. Then she reached out yet again and retracted them. Eventually, Tang Shi sounded annoyed as he made fun of her. "Don't you want to join Sheng Tang anymore?"
