Happiness for a short while

The yellow house door opens, then a cheerful couple walks out, arm in arm with a wild smile on their faces, and bright yellow shirts on them. Julie got out of the taxi. She paid the driver and was about to climb the bakery steps when she noticed Jackson and his wife. Julie stared at them kissing after he had locked their door, and she whispered, "Get a room, you two." Then Julie walked into her home, feeling more depressed.

The ice cream truck passed down their block, and Jennie could not help herself. "Babe, it's the ice cream truck!" Jennie screamed, pulling Jackson's hand as she raced towards the vehicle. He follows Jennie obediently with a calm face. When they reached the truck, a man popped his head out from the back window and smiled. "What can I do for you two love doves?" He asked.

Jennie squeezes Jackson's hand out of excitement. Jennie's lips rose symmetrically, her eyes brightening, and she could feel her heart beating freely. "Can I have chocolate ice cream, please?" She asked playfully. Jackson licked his lip, took a deep breath, and coughed, but he could not hold back his laugh. He and the ice cream guy burst into laughter. Jennie looked at their faces and felt confused about their giggling. She saw nothing funny, so why were they laughing?

"Mm!" Jackson cleared his throat and pecked his wife's chin. "Okay, then. I will have the strawberry flavor." He said. The ice cream fellow prepares two ice creams and gives it to them. "Thank you!" They said mutually. As Jennie and her spouse approached her car, she asked. "Did I say something wrong back then?" Jackson opened the vehicle door for Jennie, and she got in. "No, babe. You did nothing wrong!" Jackson replied and he closed her door.

Jackson sat behind the steering wheel and questioned her. "Where to?" Jennie took out a piece of paper from her pocket, then licked her ice cream. "Appetizing breakfast café." She said with a mouthful of chocolate ice cream. Jackson chuckled and responded. "Aye, Aye, captain!" Jennie rolls her eyes at her husband's silly remark and turns her focus to the window with a smile.

Jennie and Jackson arrived at the "Appetizing Breakfast café," and Jackson packed the car. He rushed out of the vehicle to open the door for his wife. When she was securely out of the automobile, Jackson shut the door. They walked in and took two seats closer to the wall near the window. The waitress advanced towards them and asked. "What will you be having?" Jennie turned to Jackson, and he gave her the signal to order for both of them. "We will have Chocolate orange waffles, Banana & cinnamon whirls, blueberry pancake, fruit juice, and Sea Breeze."

After a while, the waitress came back with their order. She tried to give Jennie the sea breeze, but she got stopped. "The sea breeze is for my husband," Jennie told her. The waitress looked at Jackson, and he smiled. "What can I say? My wife knows me the best." He replied. The waitress set the drink in front of him, nodded, and left. Jackson and Jennie spent hours plus, laughing, chatting, and making out over breakfast.

When they got finished with their food, Jackson paid the bill, and they left the café. He took out his key and was about to open the car door when Jennie noticed a bunch of bicycles parked on the sidewalk for rent. She tapped Jackson on his shoulder and pointed her finger toward the bikes. "Yup, let's do it." He replied.

They rented yellow and white bikes from the renter. Jennie had the yellow, and Jackson rode the white. The wind blew through their hair as Jackson screamed. "Where next?" Jennie held the bike handle with her right hand and used her left to take out the paper. "Luxurious Massage Therapy," she answers. "Yes! I need to get some hot stones laid on my back because paddling this bicycle is giving me cramps." He replied. Jennie laughed, she knew he was kidding, because one of the numerous things her husband is skilled at is sports.

The door to "Luxurious Massage Therapy" opens. "What can I do for you, guys? The receptionist asked as Jackson and Jennie entered. "We would like to get an appointment for today," Jackson said. The lady opened an enormous book in front of her and asked, "Names, please." She picked up her pen and waited for their names. "Jennie and Jackson David." Jennie answers. "What type of massage do you need?" The lady continues with her question, "We want a Couples Massage," Jennie replied as she reached out and held Jackson's hand. He kissed the back of her hand, took out his bank card, and gave it to the receptionist. "Right this way, sir and madam." She said, directing them into a room.

After their massage therapy session, Jackson and Jennie went on a few other activities like skating, bowling, art gallery, wine tasting, and to the movie. When the show finished, they came out giggling as they held hands. "The day is almost over, my list is complete, and it's time to go home!" Jennie said, feeling sad that their date had ended. Jackson stopped and faced his wife. "There is still one more thing remaining." He said. Jennie looked confused and Jackson loved her disordered expression because the higher the confusion, the greater her astonishment will be when she sees what he has for her.

Jackson jumped on his bike and paddled faster without explaining what he meant. Jennie follows closely behind him. When they arrived at the beach entrance, Jackson stopped, packed the bicycle, and locked it. Jennie did the same. "Will you tell me now what this is about?" She asked. Jackson grabbed her hand with an earnest face. "Do you trust me?" He asked. Jennie thought it was a ridiculous question, but she still answered. "Yes, I trust you." After Jennie replied, Jackson took out a cloth from his pocket and tied it around her eyes.

She did not ask any further questions and complied with him. A few minutes passed, and Jennie sensed that Jackson had carried her into a place where she could hear women chatting. Next, Jennie felt hands in her hair and on her face. She later felt her clothes removed from on her body. Jennie was shaking, but she had his voice playing in her head, "Do you trust me?" and she got her nervousness under control. Jennie could see nothing until Jackson finally removed the blindfold from over her face.

The sky lights up with fireflies and light bulbs on the strings with their pictures attached to the laces. A mixture of various flowers in colorful vases remained arranged in unique love shapes in the sand. The sun has set, and the ocean shimmers. The beach looks artistic and dazzling as Jennie gazes at how marvelous everything seems. Then her attention drew to her image inside a huge decorated mirror. She had on a Jarlo Ivory full lace long dress, her hair fixed into a "down updo" hairstyle, lace heels, rose lipstick, and diamond earrings.

A strange fellow walks up to them as Jennie admires herself. As she was about to ask her hubby, "What were all these arrangements about?" The man approached Jackson and shook his hand. Jennie noticed that her husband was wearing a white linen suit. "Are you guys ready for your vow renewal?" He asked. Jackson smiles and answers. "Yes, pastor Joseph." Jennie pauses, she wishes that what they just said was a joke, but looking at the beach set up, her dress and his suit she knew that this was real.

"What did you just say?" Jennie asked with a frown. Jackson pleaded with the pastor to give them a second and turn to her. "This is it, babe. I made a call this morning to set everything up here tonight. I know that our marriage has been on a rocky path these past few weeks, and I thought a vow renewal could put us back on track. I am sorry that I did not give you time to write your vow, but I wanted this whole preparation to be a surprise for you. So Ta-da!" He replied.

Jennie started tearing up. She rolled up her dress and started running. It shocked Jackson because this was not the response he was expecting. "I apologize!" he said to the pastor and ran after her. When he caught up with Jennie, her eyes were red, and she was sobbing out loud. "What is wrong with you? I am out here trying my best, and you keep acting like this. It is just a vow renewal. What's there to cry about?" Jackson screams as he pulls her arm to make her stop running.

"What's wrong with our old vows? Why do we need to make a fresh one?" She replied. Jackson grew frustrated by her feeble-minded question. "There's nothing wrong with our old vow! I only want to give us a chance to celebrate our wedding after everything we have been through and have us start fresh with a new chapter!" Jackson said as he strived to soothe his tone. "I can't go through with it. I am sorry for the inconvenience." Jennie replied.

Jackson let go of her arm. "You can leave." He said. Jennie hesitated. She could see that he was hurting. "Did you not hear me? I told you to go!" Jackson screamed. Jennie moved a little further. "Please, just leave me alone!" Jackson stated as he fell to his knees in tears. She grabbed the edge of her dress and ran without stopping under the sunset.
