Dad, you are embarrassing me!

The bakery door opened, and it made a loud "bang" noise when it got shut. Louis heard the sound and left the kitchen to check it out. Julie followed her father. She was curious about whom it could be since the shop was closed for the day.

Mr. Harper met Rose and Steven waiting for him in the shop. He did not know them. However, they did not seem like costumers to him.

"I am sorry for slamming your door. I did not mean to shut it hard." Steven nervously replied as he stared at Mr. Harper's athletic-built body. He thought Julie's father would be a tall slim guy since his daughter is slender and curvy.

"Do you know him?" Louis asked his daughter. He could sense the love and hate in his daughter's voice, and he knew this individual who showed up abruptly had some effect on Julie's miserable mood. Louis wanted to know why he does.

Julie folded her hands and gave Steven a sharp stare. "Dad, please meet my boss." She said with anger and sadness in her tone.

"Are you my daughter's employer?" Louis asked. Mr. Harper could have hidden how severely he wanted to beat up Steven, but he could not conceal the rage in his eyes and dismiss the anger in his heart.

Steven knew this was not a pleasant situation for him. The way the father and daughter keep looking at him makes him feel uncomfortable.

"Yes, sir. My name is Steven, sir." Steven said respectfully. He extended his hand toward Mr. Harper, hoping that his gesture would show that he had come in peace.

"Oh! You are the Steven guy. Can you get out of my bakery now!" Louis said fiercely. Steven gazed at Julie with his hand still stuck out, but she did not look into his eyes.

"Yes, sir!" Steven said. He then let his hand slide to his side and walked out.

Rose seems confused about what just happened. She also felt mad that the Harper's had disrespected her son, and their behavior did not sink in well with her.

"I know that my son and his wife wronged your family. But what did my other son do to get treated in that manner by you?" She asked Louis.

Julie feels extremely flustered now. She thought the lady next to Steven was a customer who didn't see the memo that the shop was closed. But now it shocked her that Steven would bring his mother with him to her shop.

'Why would he do such a thing? What am I going to do now? Julie! Get a grip on herself! It's not like you and her son are dating. But what if we are in the future, then what will she think of me? Stop thinking about nonsense! The guy does not even love you, so why are you worried about what his mother assumes of you?' She thought to herself.

"Oh, you are the mother of those two rascals that made my daughter sad!" Mr. Harper replied harshly.

"What is wrong with you? Is there a screw loose in your brain!" Rose said.

She had had enough with these Harper's making her boys look like disgusting guys because she had raised both of her sons to be better men, and what she was not about to allow them to do was ruin her boys' characters.

"You should ask your children those questions since it seems like they are missing all their screws to act like gentlemen!" Louis replied firmly.

Julie knew that both of them wouldn't cease arguing if someone didn't step in. "Dad, please stop. I am begging you." Julie pleaded. Louis had more to say, but he did what his daughter wanted and shut his mouth.

"I can see your daughter has more sense than you know who," Rose said. She just had to have the last word.

Mr. Harper gave his daughter, "Can I respond to her?" gaze. Julie replied with a "Don't even try it!" stare.

"Why are you here?" Louis asked with a stiff smile. There was nothing he could do but play friendly since his daughter asked him to do so. Plus, he could tell that Julie genuinely wanted to be on this woman's best side.

"I dragged my children here to apologize to your family for the incident that happened yesterday," Rose said, returning a gentle smile at Mr. Harper. She felt bad that her temper got the better of her and made her forget the actual reason she came in the first place.

"Then, where are Jackson and his wife?" Louis said. He could see now that Rose was a decent person. "She just has a bad temper, but she is an exemplary mother." Louis thought.

"I left them outside because I got informed that you did not want them in your Bakeshop for the time being, and I did not desire to disrespect your decision. I brought Steven in since I assumed he did not have any dealings with your family, but I guess I thought wrong." Rose replied with a sad expression.

She could not believe how much she did not know about her boys' lives recently. Rose wondered if Jackson had not mistakenly answered her call would she ever have the chance to know all that has been happening in their life.

"I am sorry about what I said about your boys. Jackson is a decent man, and I have great respect for him. It's just that his wife disrespected my household when she accused my daughter falsely, and that made me mad. Steven also seems like a polite gentleman, and I could have liked him if he was not a player!" Louis replied.

Julie's discomfort hit a hundred percent after her dad's remarks. She wanted to find a cage and hid in it forever. "Dad," She whispers. Louis gazed at his daughter and saw the shyness in her eye. He felt sorry for her. But at the same time, he wanted to know Steven's feelings for his daughter for her sake.

"Steven? A player? What?" Rose asked in confusion. She did not know what to think at this moment. Rose could not tell who was lying and who was telling the truth. After all, her boys haven't told her anything about their love life in recent times. Plus, she has not been involved in their lives for some time now.

"Can I call them in?" She asked Louis.

Julie wished her dad could answer with a "No!" and tell them to go home because it would feel humiliating to have her love life become an open discussion in front of the man she is crushing on and his family members.

"Sure, you can." Mr. Harper replied. Julie felt her spirit leaving her when she heard her father's response. "Well, we are both finished." The small angel and devil sitting on her shoulder said.

"Steven! Get your butt in here and bring those two with you!" Rose screamed in rage.

Jackson, Steven, and Jennie stood outside with worried faces when Rose's angry voice echoed through the door.

"Okay, guys! Let us say the Lord's prayer before going inside, and we should focus on the 'deliver us from all evil' part. Is that clear?" Jackson warned his wife and friend.

"Yes!" they replied.
