Godfather

"Good morning, neighbor!" Miya shouted as she stood outside her front door, watching Jackson as he walked over to her.

"Good morning," Jackson replied with a faint smile when he came a bit closer to Miya.

"So, today is the big move-in day?"

"Yeah, I can't believe that used to look… well like a haunted house."

A soft laugh escaped Miya's lips. Then she gazed at the enormous mansion with disbelief in her eyes.

"Yeah, me too. Everything was done in a flash that I didn't get the chance to process the entire process." Miya mumbled with her focus still on the luxury building.

"How are the little kiddos?" Jackson asked, trying to sound natural as possible.

"They are asleep. I won't be out here if they weren't." Miya replied.

Suddenly the front door opened, and Lucas walked out with a frown on his face and anger in his gaze.

"Don't you think it's inappropriate to talk to another man's wife this early and ask for his kids like we are all close?" Lacus firmly stated without losing eye contact with Jackson.

"Please don't start…" Miya whispered while staring at Lucas in annoyance.

A deep look of grief clouded Jackson's eyes when Miya gazed back at him, and for an unknown reason, she felt a tightness in her chest.

"I am sorry for my husband's attitude." Miya kindly replied with a faint smile on her lips.

"I don't take any offense in your husband's words. I am married, so I know how it feels to be protective over someone you love." Jackson pitifully said without losing the grief in his eyes.

"Great, you get it! Now, why don't you focus on your wife and leave mine!" Lucas angrily muttered.

"I have no interest in your wife. It's her kids that I care about."

"Why is that, uh?!"

For a moment, Jackson stared at the confusion mix with concern in Miya's eyes. Then with a hurtful expression on Jackson's face, he gazed at Lucas, and sadly said, "Because of an accident I was involved in, I can't have kids, so seeing the triplet helps me get a glimpse of understanding of what I will never have."

"Oh my… I am so sorry." Miya cried under her breath as she sympathetically stared at Jackson.

"For good grief, Miya. Can you not entertain this dude nonsense. Our kids are not his therapy just because his balls don't work." Lucas coldly said, losing the last patient he had.

As rage pumped through Jackson, he strived not to fold his hands into a fist because he knew that the was a strong chance that he was going to punch the crap out of Lucas.

"Suddenly they are our babies! Are you kidding me right now! Yesterday you didn't care if they were dead or alive!" Miya angrily shouted before getting a hold of her tongue.

As Lucas stared at Miya's mad eyes, he went cold with fury and bit back his anger before walking inside the house and slamming the door shut.

Within a split second, Miya heard the babies' cry echoing from inside.

"Freaking unbelievable!" She mumbled in a fate of rage as she turned away from Jackson without saying a word and headed inside.

When she walked past the living room she glanced at Lucas as he calmly sat on the couch smoking. Then she headed upstairs to her kids.

A few minutes later, after she had quiet down the two boys, she heard Lucas screaming downstairs. So she grabbed her daughter while she was still crying and rushed out of the room.

"Get the hell out of my house!" Lucas yelled with his cigarette squeezed between two of his fingers.

"I just want to know if the kids are okay," Jackson said as he tried to still his rage.

"What's going on here?" Miya whispered since she was afraid to scare her daughter. However, a vortex of anger was swirling inside her.

Almost breathless with rage, Lucas turned to Jackson and shouted, "As you can see, my kids are fine! Now get out!"

As Miya was about to speak, she heard her other kids screams echoing through the house, and without any hesitation, she hastily handed Jackson her daughter before running back upstairs.

In that instant, the anger that had spread through Jackson, suddenly melted as his daughter sat quietly in his arms while he slowly paced back and froward to keep her from crying.

After a few minutes later, Miya came back downstairs with the two boys. Then she suddenly lost her frown when she saw how gentle Jackson was with her daughter.

"Hand me Milu," Lucas mumbled as he dropped the cigarette to the floor and smashed it up.

"Oh...okay," Miya said, feeling hesitant to give her son to him.

However, against her better judgment, she gave Milu to Lucas, and he was surprisingly tender with him.

"His name is Milu?" Jackson asked while hiding his disapproval behind his calm eyes.

"Yes. She's Mila, he's Milu, and this is Milo." Miya cheerfully said.

Since the triplet was born this was the first time Lucas had shown interest in them and even though it was for the wrong reason, she couldn't help feeling proud of how well he was handling their son.

After the babies had calmed down and were seated in their rocking chairs, Lucas coldly gazed at Jackson as a signal that it was time for him to leave.

However, Jackson ignored the signal. But his phone rang at that moment, so he excused himself and headed outside.

"Mom," Jackson mumbled as he stood on the porch with his phone press against his ear.

"You moved! How dare you moved out of your home without informing your mother!" Rose's voice came out of the phone speaker sounding angry.

"Because I knew you were going to react like this. I should have known that Steven won't keep his lips sealed when it comes to you."

"Leave your brother out of this! What about Jennie?"

"What about her?"

Even though the conversation was heading to a stage that had his anger resurfacing, Jackson kept his frustration in check as he firmly rubbed his neck to relieve his stress.

"Are you guys not going to try and fix things?" Rose's concerned voice echoed into his ear.

"Can we talk about this another time?" Jackson asked before hastily cutting off the phone.

Although being rude to his mother wasn't something he wanted to do, but telling her that he was divorcing Jennie wasn't something he was planning on doing at this moment.

"Is everything okay?"

When Jackson heard Miya's voice, Jackson turned around, face her, and said, "Yeah. Just had a typical mother and son conversation with my mom."

"Oh, okay," Miya mumbled.

From the awkwardness in her expression, Jackson knew that something was bothering her. So he forced a smile and said, "Is something wrong?"

"Do you want to be my kids' godfather? I know we are strangers and all. But I am hoping you can accept, please." Miya hastily said, feeling completely embarrassed.
