Nigel's Story

At the end of the day I went to bed in my huge king sized bed, and apparently Nigel is to act as my guide, so he is supposed to sleep in the guest bedroom. (I guess he's kinda like my butler....I think) It took me so long to sleep, my head was still buzzing with excitement. (Heaven's pretty nice, I think I'm really gonna like it here...) I drifted off into a deep sleep, and my dreams were so nice and peaceful, I swore I thought they were real. In the morning Nigel greeted me,

"Good morning, Miss,"

"Good morning, Nigel, thank you so much for breakfast!"

"It's no trouble, Miss"

Before me was a spread of delicious smelling foods and treats. "Wow! This really IS heaven!" I exclaimed. As I ate breakfast Nigel explained to me the whole process of how heaven and hell works. "You either earn points or lose them depending on how good or bad you are, so we always keep a tab on you and the points you earn." He shrugged.

"Huh, there's a show that I watch and it sounds like they got everything right I guess. Weird..."

"Anyway, Miss, what would you like to do today...?" I hadn't really thought about what I would do all day, so I thought that I would get to know some of the other people that lived here. "Honestly, I wanted to get to know some of the other people here, and some of the other angels maybe...?"

"Absolutely! What a grand idea Miss!"

"I appreciate it, but you know you don't have to call me Miss all the time,"

"What would you like me to call you then?"

"Jessica, is fine."

I smiled at him, he smiled back, "Alright, then, Jessica it is."

Around noon we went for a walk, and it was so beautiful outside! I saw so many amazing flowers, some that I didn't even know existed! I was so in awe that I wasn't paying attention, when immediately I ran into someone. As I ran into them they just felt so comfortable and soft, "Are you alright?" I heard this voice and something about it was familiar. That relaxed but warm tone reminded me of someone I had met the other day...(Who was it?) I was suddenly reminded, "Zachary?!"

"Uh, yeah...?"

"I-I'm so sorry, I wasn't paying attention, an-and..."

"Hey, it's cool, you didn't hurt me or anything! But are you okay?"

"Yes, yes! I'm totally fine, your chest broke my fall...." I blush and scold myself for saying something as stupid as that, at that point, Nigel intervenes, saying, "Are you all right Jessica??"

"Yes I'm fine," Both Nigel and Zachary help me up. "Just a bit dizzy is all..." I was thinking of how idiotic I was being, I was capable of standing up on my own! (I must have seemed so pathetic to them! Ugh)

"Why don't you stay home for a bit, and rest up," Nigel offered. I didn't want to seem so pathetic, so I turned down their offer to care for me, and continued my walk with Nigel, and waved goodbye to Zachary. As we were walking I kept thinking about Zachary. His big blue eyes, and his cute little.....(Gahhh!! I need to stop thinking about him!) My mind started to wander, and for the first time I noticed how neat Nigel's hair was. (He seems so very neat and organized.... ) I start to intensely stare at him, noticing how gold his eyes were and how they seemed to shimmer in the sunlight, and how his dark brown hair seemed so loose, and yet so neat. (I don't understand how he's so perfect....) He must have seen me drooling because he grinned and said, "You're drooling again,"

"Am not!" I quickly wiped my drool away and started to blush, I looked down at my feet as we were walking. "What were you like on Earth?" I asked. He looked defeated as I asked him. "Oh! I'm sorry, you don't have to tell me! I was just curious..."

"It's alright, I don't mind.... you see, I had never gotten to really see what Earth was like for myself because I had died before I was born. When I came here I was cared for and I was a "special child" because I aged in heaven, not on Earth. So you will not age, and in a couple of days I will stop aging, and stay this way forever.....with you." (That's so sad! I feel really bad for him, he never actually knew his parents or anyone in his family! That must have been hard growing up.) I wasn't sure what to say, so I ended up walking over to him, and I hugged him. I didn't realize it but he hugged me back, and at that moment, I started to cry. I cried for him. I don't remember ever crying for anyone else back on Earth, he was the first person. "It's okay, really. There's no need to cry."

"Yes there is, you never got to meet your parents, an-and...."

"Don't worry, I don't need anyone else but you right now. You are such a caring and compassionate person, you give me all the love I need."

I look up at him through blurry eyes, "Really...?" He wipes my tears, "Really. Now let's go home and rest, we have a big day tomorrow."

"What's tomorrow?" I sniff

"Tomorrow we have a welcome party just for you!"
