Welcome Party

The next day when I woke up, I was buzzing with energy and ready to go to the welcome party. (I'm gonna meet so many new people!) After breakfast me and Nigel started getting ready for the party. "What time does the party start? What should I wear? How many people are going to be there?"

"Calm down Miss Jessica, I have all the information you will need right here," He pulled out a sheet of paper that was shaped like a brochure. "The party starts at noon, and it is a fancy beach themed, and of course everyone from the neighborhood will be there." I sighed, (I do love beach themed events.....but fancy? I honestly thought it would be more casual, though I do like fancy parties!) After, I was all ready, the last thing I had to do was to put my dress on. It was a beautiful turquoise silk dress that was a strapless mermaid dress, and had stunning sequin patterns along the waistline. I gasped, "Oh, it's absolutely gorgeous!" It fit like a glove, and was very comfortable. Last , I slipped on my jet black high heel shoes, and put my hair up in a nice, but loose bun. Nigel must have been waiting outside my door, because as soon as I walked out of my room I heard someone gasp. I spun around and there was Nigel waiting for me. "You look...amazing,"

"Thank you, so do you," I blushed. He was wearing a slim black tuxedo and a cute bowtie, he also had done his hair so nicely. (He looks so handsome.... more than ever, actually!) He handed me a red rose and took my arm as we walked down to the party. (It's kinda weird that we're dressing so fancy just for a welcome party.....but who cares? This is fun!) As we are walking, again I notice how much his gold eyes stand out against his black tux and his dark brown hair.

When we got to the party, the first thing I noticed was that they had a disco ball, and they had so many fun things to do there. (Wow! This place is amazing! They really know how to throw a party, eh?) I turn to Nigel, "What should we do first!?" He grinned at me and dragged me over to dance, the disco shimmered all around us as we spun around and danced. When the songs were over I felt as if I was floating on air. We played other games that they, surprisingly had, like balloon darts, and limbo. The thing that caught my attention the most, other than the beautiful cake, was the "Adopt a Pet" station the had. I had to drag Nigel over to the station, where they had so many animals. (How am I gonna pick a pet?!?) After pondering and getting flustered over a bunch of animals, I finally made up my mind. I looked over to Nigel, "You should get one too, you know I don't mind." He looked me in the eyes and I felt as though I'd melt. Literally. "Thank you, Jessica,"

"It's no problem," I said looking away. "I just don't want to get a pet and you don't, it doesn't seem fair." I shrugged. In the end, I got the cutest tabby kitten. As I cradled her in my arms I said, "I think I'm gonna name you Cleo," She meowed the smallest and cutest meow I have ever heard. "Awwww, hey Nigel what animal did you pick...." My jaw dropped as I saw what animal he had gotten. "What do you think...?"

"I think.....she's amazing! She's so beautiful!" Nigel had picked out a beautiful Spix's Macaw, she was small, but absolutely stunning.

"Your kitten is so cute! What did you name her?"

"Cleo, what did you name your gorgeous macaw over there?"

"Her name is.... Jess," (Huh?! Why would he name his macaw after ME?)

I was very puzzled by his choice in a name. After picking them out and naming them, we had them sent to the house, and at that exact moment, they had turned on a slow song. I started getting flustered as Nigel walked over to me and put his hands on my waist. "I-uh, I can't really d-dance...."

"That's okay...." I hesitantly put my arms on his shoulders as we spun around slowly. I felt as if I could stay in his arms forever if he'd let me. As we were in the middle of dancing I noticed someone wasn't dancing, and was standing in the corner alone. It took me a while to notice that it was Zachary. (Why isn't he dancing? Does he not have a date...?) I tried ignoring him for a while, but when the song was over I walked over to him. "Is...is everything okay here...?" He looked up at me and he seemed to force a smile, "Yeah, I'm fine Jess....I just don't have a date. That's probably really sad, hah..."

"No! No, it's perfectly fine to not have a date sometimes, I basically never had a date when I went to dances in High School!"

"Hm, I can't see why, I mean, you look beautiful, especially right now!" I blushed at his words. He stammered, "I-I mean, it's n-not t-that....." I grabbed his arm and brought him over to the food. "Damn! This food looks delicious!" He exclaimed. I got three pieces of cake for Nigel, Zachary and I, they both looked very confused when I handed it to them. "Oh no, I couldn't eat it. It's your cake because it's your welcome party after all!" I gave Nigel a look, "Oh, all right, if you insist." Zachary didn't say anything except, "Less talking, more eating," as he stuffed his face with cake. We all laughed. After I was able to mingle with some of my new neighbors, and I even met my next door neighbor, her name was Joselyn, and her soulmate's name was Adrian. "Oh, sweetheart, your gonna love it here! They have everything you could ever want, if you can dream it, you can have it!" We all talked for the rest of the time, and said our farewells at the end. When we started to walk home I realized that Zachary was still with us. "Don't you have to go home too...?"

"Heh, about that....I don't have anyone to go home to because the head angel said to take a break and stay with a friend, so I thought I could stay with you...?" (Hmm, I'm not sure if I should have two handsome angels staying with me in my house, but he doesn't have anywhere to stay, and it didn't seem like he had too many friends, so.....) "Sure! Why not!"

"Are you sure about this Miss Jessica?"

"It's alright Nigel, he can stay in the other guest bedroom down the hall from you."

"All right, if your sure..."
