Where It All Began (FB)

(Three Years Ago)

Last night was a success, I got to get Lawrence and Chloe a bit closer, and it was a good birthday party for Chloe.

'She deserves it.' I thought to myself.

I was in my Land Rover going to work, we had many meetings. Spencer, my assistant, arranged everything for me. I could never ask for a better assistant. He was much older than me at 39 years old, but he was very experienced in business and that way he was helping me arrange everything while I was busy arranging the products and how the revenue was going.

My phone started ringing, I checked the screen on the dashboard and saw it was Jamie.

"What's up Jamie?" I said as I answered the call from the steering wheel.

"Boss it is ready and it will be delivered to your office in an hour." He said.

"Good work mate, the transaction has already been done. Eighty five thousand pounds, right?" I questioned.

"It was seventy thousand, Daniel." He responded.

"Oh well, keep the change." I said.

"Will do boss, nice doing business with you." He said.

"Likewise, take care."

"Take care."

'Well, that was something.' I said to myself.

I was so excited for what was going to happen, yet I needed to compose myself for the meeting.

I reached the building and got off the car at the garage's entrance.

"Welcome Mr. Hughes, I hope your day is going well." Said one of the security guards as they took my keys, they would do that everyday and take my car to it's parking place.

"Thank you Mr. Kent, I hope your day is going well too." I said as I buttoned my suit's jacket and gave him a warm smile.

I entered through the VIP entrance and was immediately intercepted by Spencer.

"Mr. Hughes the VIPs are on their way." Spencer started.

"Good day to you too Spencer." I said jokingly.

"Sorry sir, good day." He said as he facepalmed.

"No worries I know how excited you are."

"So, the meeting room is arranged and the coffee, tea and water is also arranged according to each person's preferred drink of choice since I dug deep into their past meetings and found some footage and saw what each person had." Spencer explained as he walked beside me and then he handed me a piece of paper.

I looked down and sure enough he had written a list of the people who were coming to the meeting and what they like to drink.

"Spencer, you have outdone yourself here. I'm impressed." I admitted.

"Really?" Spencer questioned in disbelief.

"Yeah really, this is quite exquisite." I said.

"Okay." He said as a smile lit up on his face and he turned bright red in excitement and happiness.

I walked around the corner and headed into the elevator as Spencer followed behind me and pressed (2).

"How's the morale today?" I asked.

"Everyone is excited for the meeting and the profit it can potentially make for us." Spencer said.

"You do realize that this is the biggest meeting we have been a part of. Yes we are a big company but we need allies, and this is the chance for that." I said.

"I do realize that, and I still can't believe you decided that I should take part in it, thanks for that by the way." Spencer said thankfully.

"You have earned it Spencer, no need to thank me for it." I said with a smile "We do have a few hours before the meeting, right?" I wondered out loud.

"Yes sir, two hours and fifty seven minutes." Spencer confirmed.

"Nice, might as well go and see how everyone is today since we have some time. Maybe have a tea in my office if you are free?" I offered.

"Of course sir, that would be a pleasure."

Spencer was the type of person to lead an entire company and influence them without noticing, he had an incredible work ethic and a brilliant mind for the future, I was very lucky to have him by my side.

As we walked through the second floor of the building where most people were working on their computers, receiving offers and sending them out.

"Having a company rivaling the biggest around here is amazing, not sounding biased but all of our electronic devices are some of the best around." Spencer said out of nowhere.

"I know, and I'm so proud of everyone around here for doing their absolute best, from the engineers working on the products to the office workers, security guards, and most importantly you Spencer." I said.

"Everyone is giving it their best... Wait, me?" He asked.

"If it wasn't for you, then this company would have fallen under Ben a long time ago." I said.

"I don't wish to undermine Mr. Ben but his way of doing things around here was certainly questionable. He never stopped talking about this Projekt-X him and a German doctor were working on. He also spent a lot of money supplying that project which was certainly bad in my opinion since there was no return to make from it." Spencer said honestly.

"Did he tell you any details about Projekt-X?" I asked.

"Unfortunately no, I was very curious though, he just said that he must finish what was started no matter the cost."

We entered my office after going through everyone and seeing that spirits were high because of the potential this day was holding.

"Well, he did have some crazy ideas, no one knows what they were or if he ever started them, my guess is that he never started." I said.

"Regardless of what Mr. Ben did back then, I'm glad that Anshin is at the highest it has ever been today and under your lead towards a better future."

"Thank you Spencer, this is high praise coming from you." I said with a wink.

We called for tea to the office, but before bringing them in, the telephone rang, it was the security.

"Daniel Hughes, how can I help you?" I said as I picked up.

"Sir this it Jacob from the security team, there are police officers asking to see you but I didn't let them in, can you please come down to meet them?"

"Yes of course, right away." I said as I hung up "Spence, tell Mrs. Hirst to postpone the tea, I need to go down for something really quickly."

"Consider done sir."

I left my office and headed down the flight of stairs, Then quickly went out of the VIP entrance to see a team of three officers waiting for me.
