Day 2

My first quest ended without any problem.

I received a small scolding from the adventurer's guild's receptionist when I mentioned I fell asleep in the mountains and promised to be more careful next time.

As expected, the reward was just barely enough to pay me a cheap meal, but this is expected, considering it was the cheapest quest in the whole guild.

Later the guild's receptionist explained to me that this kind of quest is not meant to be taken alone, and because there is no failure penalty many people take them as a side quest as long as it's in the way for their main quest.

As for my second quest, I got a horned rabbit hunting quest.

Because horned rabbits are almost inoffensive, they are the perfect quest for beginners like me.

Hunting them not only allow us to train our hunting skills in a safe environment but it also earn us some delicious rabbit meat as only the horn have to be delivered to prove your kills.

Just thinking about the delicious rabbit meat barbecue I'm going to make is already making me drool, let's end this fast so I can fill my belly with rabbit meat!

---

After checking my equipment and supplies I departed to the planes located East of town.

As I reached the city gate, I saw a young merchant on a wagon full of boxes getting ready to depart.

Since he was heading East just like me, I decided to try my luck and ask for a ride.

As I presented myself as an adventurer going to the east plains and showed my guild badge to him, the merchant happily accepted my request saying that it would be good to have some company during the trip.

With no time to lose, I climbed the wagon and both of us departed town.

---

As we traveled together, the merchant and I exchanged many stories of our life.

I told him funny stories about my village and he told me many interesting things that happened as he traveled around. (Don't worry Berta, your secret is still safe with me.)

I discovered that he was travelling to the other city to sell potions and other alchemy products. It seems like Arkana, the city where I live, is considered a big alchemy center and many merchants come here to buy their products for cheap.

Honestly I had no idea. I only arrived here because it was the closest city to our village, so I still have a lot to learn.

Our trip together ended really fast, before we noticed we had already arrived at the East Plains, so I had to get out and do my job, so after saying good bye and wishing him luck in his business I jumped out of the wagon and started to prepare myself.

---

There are two ways to hunt horned rabbits: You can set traps and patiently wait for it to be catch, or you can actively seek out the horned rabbits and kill them with a bow and arrow.

As for hunting it with a knife, that's quite hard to do, because horned rabbits can run faster than us and they easily sense our presence if we approach more than 10 meters from them.

Well, you could use the monster bait perfume as well, but if you make any mistake and the scent get to your clothes, you will be facing multiple horned rabbits attacking you from all directions and other stronger monsters may also appear, so it's not really recommended.

So, which method should I use? Well, as Teacher always says, when in doubt do both.

Setting up traps is a slow and monotonous job but after it's done we are free to do anything else, so instead of waiting after I was done, I walked to the opposite side of the field and started looking for rabbits.

---

As the night slowly approached I still had no luck hunting any rabbit.

My stomach loudly protested and but it seemed like today I could only dream of eating roasted rabbit.

As I walked my way back defeated, I decided to check the traps I had forgotten and imagine my surprise when I discovered that 3 horned rabbits had been catch!

I mentally thanked Teacher for his wise words and had a splendid dinner before heading back.
