Chapter 6

As I walked down the paved sidewalk, my brain wandered to all of the possible ways the day could pan out. There was always the possibility that nobody would even recognize me and just forget all about my popularity over the past few years. But, that wasn't very likely because one of my town's favorite things to do was gossip so they would probably figure it out pretty quickly, and then the whispers and rumors would really start.

I was lost in thought the rest of the way to my school. When I arrived, I took in a deep breath to brace myself and went inside. I was pretty early showing up, so I hadn't expected to see many people there. However, I was taken by surprise when I entered, because every pair of eyes from the senior class was on me. Why were they all so early?

Trying not to make a scene, I simply walked to my locker and placed my things inside. As I pulled my schedule out of my back-pack, I saw that my first class was Chemistry. I folded the piece of paper back up and headed to class.

When I entered the classroom, what I saw made me stop in my tracks. I saw Chloe Dais (the most popular girl in school and one of the friends that had completely cut me off over the past summer) clinging to Jake Hughes (my boyfriend that hadn't talked to me for an entire month.) At first, I didn't know what to think of the sight I was witnessing. However, after a few seconds, everything clicked in my brain. After a few years of being my friend, Chloe and her group decided I had lost my "shiny new toy" affect, so I wasn't important anymore. After that, Jake and his friends probably chose to go along with it as well, so I was completely dropped and forgotten. Of course, after getting rid of me, Chloe and Jake, being the hottest people in school, got together.

I quickly found a seat in the front of the room and took out a notebook and pencil. The first bell rang and the teacher started writing things on the board.

"Good morning seniors. Happy last, first day of school!" Mr. Meyer exclaimed. His class was one of the only ones I enjoyed, because he always had a smile on his face.

When he started to write the lesson plan for the week, I allowed myself a peek to the back corner of the room. I saw Chloe on her phone, and all of her friends too."Typical Chloe" I thought as I looked back to the white board.

The hour passed pretty quickly, and so did the next three. At lunch, I decided to walk home so I didn't have to deal with the weird looks for an entire extra hour. When I got done with my meal, I hugged my mom and headed back into the chaos. The rest of the day went by pretty slowly, so when I got home, I went straight to my bedroom and laid down on my bed. As I rested there, I let my thoughts flood my brain, and eventually I drifted off to sleep.

I looked around, not knowing what was going on. Everyone was surrounding me . As they closed in on me, I looked around for an escape, but there wasn't one. Panic washed over me. As they got closer and closer, I was sure I was going to die.
