WHAT KIND OF GOD DO WE HAVE?

Meanwhile, Anton brought Santina and Mikael to one of the empty rooms at the orphanage and offered them some snacks for refreshments so they could cool down and relax for a while.

"I will be back in a minute."

Anton said briefly before he went out to do something. Santina and Mikael were once again left to themselves but they did not find it awkward in any way as they were way too used to the company of one another.

Deciding that they better of made good use of their free time, the two both had a silent agreement to discuss the matters of their case in the meantime.

"There are three candidates to replace Officer Aragon and all of them are idiots."

Mikael started as he revealed the inside news that he got so far. Due to the Chief of police's publicized health issue, the petition of having him replaced in his position had arise lately.

"Sometimes, I really could not help but find myself wondering what goes on people's head."

He added with an exasperated sigh. Obviously he was not happy upon hearing the news.

Meanwhile, Santina who was busy nibbling on her piece of bread casually wiped the corner of her lips before answering

"We have more important things to worry about, Kel. Carlo Ramirez called me this morning."

"Ohh?? I see. The biggest idiot in the lot. What for? What does he have to say?"

Mikael said with an obvious edge of sarcasm in his voice. But Santina remained silent afterward.

"Don't tell me they already removed us from the case???"

Mikael probed tentatively and Santina quickly shook her head.

"Nope. At least, not yet. But I am pretty sure they are thinking about it already. Attorney Daniel would surely appeal to them.

She said. Meanwhile, tsking in annoyance, Mikael remained silent for a moment.

"Eat up. We have to work double-time later while we are still on the job."

Santina said as she offered him a sandwich to which the other party accepted readily.

While the two were busy eating their own share of food, someone came inside the room, uninvited.

"Yes???"

Santina asked kindly.

"Good day, ma'am and sir. My name is Lolita Saavedra. The door is open so I let myself in.

'Hmmm...'

The other two both nodded their head almost at the same time to show the other party that they were listening.

"What can we do for you, Ma'am? Have a seat"

Mikael inquired a lot gentler than his usual self. He seemed to be changing into a completely different person when talking to a stranger.

"No thanks, sir. I just came here because I wanted to personally give this fried bananas."

As the old lady said that, she raised her right hand which held a brown eco bag. It was also only then that the two noticed that the other party indeed carry something with her.

'Errr????'

Santina and Mikael looked at each other as they were both clueless. They did not have the slightest idea as to why the old lady was suddenly offering them a treat.

Probably sensing their reluctance and confusion, the old lady finally revealed her true purpose for coming over.

"I just want to express my gratitude to the two of you. I heard from Anton that you had been helping with the investigation of the mysterious killings at our district. By the way, I am actually Inigo's grandmother. Inigo Saavedra, victim number two."

The two were speechless upon learning the identity of the old lady. But Mikael was quick enough to recover from his shock.

He nodded his head and said

"You're welcome, Ma'am Lolita."

That was what all that he managed to say as he also did not know what to say next anymore. However, the old lady remained standing on the same spot even after a minute had passed.

The other party did not say a word but she remained unmoved. But judging from her expression, it was as though she wanted to say something but she was hesitating whether to say or not.

"Is there something we could help you with?"

Santina asked worriedly but the old lady spoke directly to Mikael instead.

"Father, what kind of God do we have?"

Mikael wanted to correct the other party for addressing him wrong but he changed his mind on the last-minute as he reckoned that it was not the right time to do that.

He remained silent instead.
