Rainbow was just finishing up her lunch when she noticed that Barry hadn't come back yet. She wondered what he was doing that was taking so long. He had 'gone to the loo' and never come back. She stood up and put the empty plate away with the tray and went to go find him. She just hoped he hadn't acted on what she'd said earlier...
As Rainbow walked down the corridor she started to hear shouting and she walked towards it. A crowd had gathered and she couldn't see through all the people because she was so small. She winded through all the people and saw Barry kicking Gary, who was on the floor in pain. "STOP!" She yelled before Barry could kick him again. Rainbow came out from the crowd and stood in front of Gary with her arms out to protect him. Barry frowned and rolled his eyes at her coming to his protection.
"Rainbow, get out of the way." He ordered slowly, taking his time with each word and trying to get her to back down. She stayed in position confidently, she wouldn't let him push her around again. "Rainbow. Move." He ordered again, standing intimidatingly over her.
"I never wanted you to beat him up!" She exclaimed, "Yeah I was annoyed, but you don't need to act on my complaints!" Rainbow continued, causing him to form a fist once again. "I thought that I could talk to you about something like adults, but apparently you're too immature for that!" She explained, her voice lowering but her confidence unwavering.
"Shut up and move." Barry ordered as he lost his patience with her. She stayed put, daring him to punch her in front of all these people. He threw a punch at her and she swiftly dodged it. He grit his teeth, and lifted her off her feet. "You. Need. Me. Stay put and consider yourself off the popular table." He whispered menacingly in her ear. It made her momentarily doubt herself. If she got kicked off the popular table, she would lose all her friends, over protecting the Sheffield, no less. Barry saw her confidence waver and smirked, placing her back on her feet. Rainbow glanced from Gary lying in pain to Barry smirking. The Sheffield wasn't worth it. He was her sworn enemy anyway.
"What is going on here?!" A teacher commanded, as she stormed over to the group. She saw Gary, beaten up on the floor and then turned to Rainbow who still had her arms out. Then there was Barry the notorious bully of the school. She ordered the students to go to class and then turned to Rainbow. "Take Mr Sheffield to the school nurse Rainbow," she ordered in a quieter tone. Rainbow crossed her arms. Just because the nurse was her key worker, all the teachers used her to take the students to the nurse. "Barry you're coming with me." She commanded and started to walk off. Barry glared at Rainbow as he left, flipping her off with both hands.
She frowned and then knelt down to Gary, he was in no condition to be walking, and there was no way she would be able to carry him the whole way there. She would have to heal him enough so he would be able to walk. She leant him against the wall in a sitting position and brushed the hair out of his eyes.
Her mother had always described the Sheffields as mean and heartless. But from how Gary had acted towards her so far, he had only been thoughtful and caring. She stared at him, taking in all his tiny details, he didn't look dangerous. Rainbow couldn't understand why their families had fought for so long. She knew that they'd both been taught the history to death, but maybe there was more to it than what they were told.
Rainbow lightly held her hand over his chest and took a deep breath. She could do this. It would either heal him or kill him. Either way it was a win for her. She lit up her hand with magic and the rainbow colours swirled around it. The magic flew into his chest and she closed her eyes visualising a rib cage. The broken ribs started to move and fix themselves. When they were back in place, she lifted her hand off his chest. Despite being exhausted from the spell, she tried to wake him up and act like he had passed out.
