Heaven? - Gary

Gary opened his bleary eyes and was immediately blinded by the harsh white light of the room he was in. Was he in heaven? He couldn't remember anything. As he blinked, his eyes started to focus on his surroundings. He was in a hospital bed. Memories suddenly rushed through his mind, and his head dropped to the side. Someone was sitting next to him. The Aimes? Why did she look so worried?

"How are you feeling?" She asked reluctantly, tapping the side of the bed nervously. He watched her for a moment, she'd brought him to the nurse. If she hadn't he would've died. Why had his rib suddenly started to try and rip though his chest? Had the Aimes tried to kill him?

"Fine," he grumbled, watching her every move as she fiddled nervously with her hair, still tapping the bed with her other hand. If she had tried to kill him, why would she bring him here? He couldn't work out her intentions, maybe this was one of her tricks. The nurse came over to them and smiled softly, seeing that he was awake.

"Do you mind me asking how you got these injuries?" She asked softly, picking up a clipboard. The Aimes's eyes darted from the nurse to him and then to the nurse again. Evidently, she was nervous that he would tell her about the Aimes's minion.

"He just got in a stupid fight with some guy, that's all!" The Aimes blurted out, "We should let him rest, he's been through a lot." She added hastily, starting to smooth out the duvet on the bed. The nurse studied the Aimes for a moment before starting to speak.

"I appreciate that Rainbow, but it's important that I hear what happened in his own words." She explained softly and slowly, making the Aimes's rushed exclamations seem even more frantic than they were. They both turned to him and he noticed the Aimes's worried expression, Barry was going to get in trouble and there was nothing she could do to stop it. Why was she trying to stop it? Before he'd fallen unconscious, he'd heard her trying to stop Barry. They had a weird relationship.

"Well..." he started, trying to find a way around this. If he wanted to be her friend there was an obvious way to prove it. Not ratting out Barry. "I was walking to history, and then a guy jumped me. I'm sorry, I don't know his name since I'm still quite new here..." He explained, the Aimes's expression changed to one of confusion and relief. She smiled, silently thanking him for covering for Barry. The nurse smiled and nodded.

"What did he look like? We can get up the images of students that match your description if you want." She continued, trying to get to the bottom of this 'case'. Gary shifted his gaze to the Aimes, she was biting her lip again.

"Uh... he had brown hair... and quite a muscular build..." He started. The nurse frowned these features could define anyone, it was like saying that he had eyes. He lifted a hand to his head. "I'm sorry, I can't really remember, it all happened so fast!" He mumbled. The nurse sighed again.

"Look I'll get up the pictures of the guys in your year by tomorrow, you can go but take it easy for a while." She explained, turning and walking over to her desk. Gary turned to the young girl next to him. She got up and smiled at him.

"Ready to go?" She asked, holding out her hand. He smiled back and nodded, starting to get up. He winced in pain but continued anyway. He took her hand and she helped him up. As they walked out of the room the nurse called the Aimes. She froze and nervously glanced at him. "I-I'll see you later..." She mumbled and walked back over to the desk. Why was she worried? And why did she get called back?
