Tattoos - Rainbow

Rainbow finally escaped the nurse's ridiculous questioning, and wandered aimlessly through the endless corridors. The nurse had asked her so many questions and she was exhausted. She was still surprised that Gary had covered for Barry too. They seemed to be forming a rivalry. It was all so exhausting...

"Rainbow!" Someone called, she looked up and saw Dimond and Gabrielle running towards her. "Look!!" She squealed, pointing to a new little tattoo on her shoulder, it was in the shape of a heart. Rainbow was slightly taken aback. Her parents would have never allowed her to get a tattoo.

"What about your parents?" She asked and Dimond rolled her eyes at her cousin's naïve question. Gabrielle cleared her throat and gave Dimond a poke in the ribs as Rainbow traced the ink on her cousin's shoulder with her finger.

"Like they'd care! Just cuz your mum would literally kill you, it doesn't mean everyone else's will!" She answered and Rainbow frowned. "Oh yeah! Gabrielle got one too!" She exclaimed and bounced up and down excitedly, when she got prodded. Gabrielle lifted up her arm, revealing a dragon tattoo, taking up most of her forearm.

"Okay, but your mum will definitely kill you!" Rainbow exclaimed, staring at the intricate detail, inked into Gabrielle's arm. If she ever dared to do something like that, her mother would probably cut it out of her. But Gabrielle's mum was the headteacher and they had a strict no tattoos rule. Having one up her forearm was definitely going to attract attention. But that was what she wanted. Gabrielle's father had run off when she was little and her mother was constantly working due to being a headteacher, so Gabrielle had very little attention given to her. That was why she always did really rebellious things and usually she dragged Dimond down with her.

"Like she'd even notice!" Gabrielle retorted, but then stared at her feet. Rainbow studied Dimond's expression, she knew that her parents would kill her... They had very expectations for their daughter and she always seemed to fail them. She'd soon realised that there was no point in trying to keep up with them, being rebellious was more fun anyway. Rainbow bit her lip nervously, they both looked like they were starting to regret it. They had always tried to get her to join in with their rebellious antics but Rainbow rarely joined in, unless the whole group joined in. Dimond, Gabrielle, Barry and the others were the reason that she went drinking with the girls sometimes.

"Well... I think they look quite cool." Rainbow agreed, trying to cheer them up after she had made them doubt their decisions. "Besides, since when have you guys ever listened to your parents?" She joked, still trying to lighten the mood. They both grinned as their eyes sparkled in excitement.

Dimond grabbed Rainbow, spun her around and whispered in her ear, "You're turn RB!". Rainbow gasped and tried to scramble out of Dimond's grip as Gabrielle laughed, telling her to 'lighten up'.

"I am never getting a tattoo!" Rainbow exclaimed fighting as Gabrielle also pushed Rainbow in the direction of the door. Dimond was laughing, genuinely laughing. It was a long time since Rainbow had seen her laugh like that and she started to smile with her. Gabrielle took the opportunity of Rainbow being distracted and tripped her up. She gasped as she started to fall backwards, arms flailing to try and grab something. She ended up hitting her head on the floor and frowning as both of them laughed harder. She sat up and stared at the floor, rubbing the bump that was forming on the back of her head while listening to their mocking laughter. It rang in her head, causing her breath to speed up slightly.

"Might've guessed it was you being made fun of RB!" A guy's voice mocked, making her turn in his direction. The sudden deep voice had made her jump. Barry walked over to them and both girls hugged him. Rainbow stared at the floor. Barry was dating Dimond but he quite often had flings with Gabrielle. She still wasn't 100% certain that Dimond knew this and she didn't want to break her heart if she didn't. She carefully got up onto her feet as Barry kissed both of their cheeks. "What jealous?" Barry suddenly queried, taking in Rainbow's hurt expression.

She just scoffed in response, he wasn't worth the energy, she thought. Rainbow slowly started to back away from the group, so that she could go nap in the dorm. She'd run out of energy. Again. Her eyes struggled to stay open and her movements turned sluggish. Not again, she thought, hoping that she could at least get to the dorm. Suddenly everything went dark and she heard Dimond cry out her name in worry.
