Gary ran down the stairs, tripping slightly and going a little faster than he probably should have been going. He had searched everywhere for the Aimes! Where was she? What had Barry done to her? And more importantly why did he care? Maybe it was because he was still curious over what she'd wanted to say the other day… He hadn't seen her since the big fight that the populars had last evening and he was worried she'd be down a corridor bleeding like before. He got to the bottom of the stairs and panted for a moment trying to work out where he should search next, when the front door to the school swung open and three girls walked in. It was Barry's girlfriend, one he didn't know and…
Her.
The Aimes.
She was okay.
She was laughing and joking with the girls she was with and looked really happy. The three of them split up, all going in different directions, evidently all having something planned. Gary watched her walk away from them and stare at her hands in distaste. Once she was far away enough from anyone else, Gary ran over to her.
"Hey!" He called and caught up to her taking her face in his hands catching her by surprise. He looked her over, scanning for injuries and she threw him off, scowling. He realised what he'd just done and took a step back. He probably seemed really creepy right now.
"What?! Jeez… who runs up to someone and grabs their face…" The Aimes asked, mumbling the rest under her breath, making sure to keep it audible so that he could hear her judgements. She crossed her arms, hiding her hands in an impatient manner.
"Sorry… A-are you okay? I mean I heard Barry talking about you and I thought he'd beaten you up or something again…" Gary rambled, slightly worried that the Aimes would use her magic on him. She seemed a little taken aback by his answer, studying his face to work out whether it was true.
"Barry was talking about me?" The Aimes asked, seeming to be completely out of it. From what Gary could now tell, the Aimes and his majesty had a strained relationship at best. And he did definitely not take orders from her. Was she worried he'd beat her up? It seemed like it.
"Yeah… He was… He was saying that you 'stood up for some'… guy…" Gary answered, not feeling comfortable with actually quoting Barry, due to his awful language. He watched the Aimes tense. "You okay?" He asked again, starting to question if he should've told her or not.
"Yeah…" She answered absentmindedly, she uncrossed her arms and fiddled with a section on her multicoloured hair. Gary noticed her nails, they were rainbow coloured and had a different colour on each finger, with each nail being diagonally split in half, one half being glittery coloured and the other just being matte. It was really pretty, he thought, wondering if she'd done them herself. "Did he say who I was standing up for?" She asked, snapping Gary back to reality. He quickly realised that he'd been staring at her hand for what was probably too long.
"No he didn't." Gary answered, the Aimes seemed slightly relieved by his answer. "I… um… like your nails. Did you do them yourself?" He asked, changing the topic and catching her off guard. Her eyes widened slightly.
"Oh…" She responded quietly, "Thanks. No I didn't… Dimond and Linda took me to a nail salon in town." She answered. Gary smiled as she did, evidently reminiscing on the time they'd spent together earlier, while staring at her nails. So Dimond and Linda were the names of the girls that she was with earlier. The question was, which was which?
They stood there in silence for a moment, both having so much to say and yet nothing at the same time.
"I'm going to go talk to Barry…" The Aimes informed eventually, tired of the silence. She seemed nervous. Who wouldn't be? Gary swayed slightly on the spot gathering his confidence.
"Want me to come with you?" He asked, the Aimes stared up at him in a bewildered way. Probably thinking something along the lines of: why would the Sheffield do this? And honestly he had no answer for her. Maybe it was because he wanted to be friends. Did he still even want to be friends with her even though she was and Aimes? Well… he could always find out more information from her. Information was important for survival.
"… No…" She answered hesitantly, as if she wasn't sure it was the right answer. Maybe she wanted to have a personal chat with him and didn't want Gary intruding on that. And that was fine. She stayed in the spot a little longer, probably trying to will herself to go find Barry. No-one would want to find Barry. She slowly turned around, heading in the direction he came in.
"Oh! He was in my dorm, B6! I suppose it's his too though…" Gary called after her. She nodded in thanks and walked off. He stood there for a moment, fighting the urge to follow her. This wasn't going to end well and he knew it.
