"Okay everybody, today we'll be singing a song called 'Don't stop believing' by Journey, " Mrs Callister announced to the class. "But Miss, we've never sung a song in our lessons before, " complained Jessie dispiritedly. "Well then, today's a fresh, new start, Jessie. I don't want anyone singing out of tune," Mrs Callister strictly affirmed. "Yes ma'am, " the class replied compliantly. Mrs Callister lined her class up and hit the play button. Jamie panicked, she's not a very good singer. In fact, she's a terrible singer, she's so bad that if you compare her singing to the sound of a strangled cat, you wouldn't hear much of a difference.
Imperfection No.3: terrible singer. There isn't really much to say except she's just really bad and always has been.
In a matter of seconds, the music soon began to play. 'Maybe I can lip-synch to it. Yes, I'll do that.' thought Jamie. And so, she did but she was very surprised to find that Mrs Callister was staring at her and a couple of others suspiciously. "Jamie stand here, you too Kelly, Rita, Lucy, Amberlee, Ruby, Alana, Tom, Ben and Marcus, " Ordered Mrs Callister. They all stood up at the front. "Sing! " she commanded then played music. They all nervously stared at the screen and some anxiously fidgeted with their fingers. One thing they all knew, was that if they didn't sing now, they'd have to sing alone later so they gave in. To their shock, they discovered that they were all equally absolutely crap at singing. Altogether, they sounded like strangled cats, howling wolves and choking frogs. Mrs Callister looked disgusted, they sounded dreadful and were so out of tune. "Maybe it's better if you didn't sing. That was awful and horrendous, I'll be deducting points from all of you, " Mrs Callister proclaimed. (A/N: This story is based in England and most schools here have point systems but they may be called different names. I kind of skipped morning form time at the beginning of the book, oops :'(. )
Once music was finished, Jamie had afternoon form time to end her school day. In form, they could do read, finish homework or have a quiet chat with a friend. Ring! Ring! Ring! (A/N: I'll never stop! Never!) It was time to go home. Jamie safely arrived home but didn't expect to see her cousin Vanessa sitting on the couch in the living room. Vanessa is Jamie's cousin who is beautiful, popular and a year older than Jamie. "Jamie, there you are, I was waiting for you! Why'd you take so long?" Vanessa enthusiastically called? "Vanessa, what are you doing here?" Jamie asked. "I've come to talk to you, " responded Vanessa dramatically pointing her finger at Jamie when she said the word 'you'. Vanessa grabbed Jamie's hands and led her to her room. "They're finally getting some Girl time!" her mom excitedly squealed to her dad.
"So let me get this straight, your friend Emma sent you a video of me being bullied by Ruby last month and you want me to stand up to her, move schools and you'll teach me how to be popular, " Jamie inquired. "Yes, exactly. You need to finish what you've started," answered Vanessa. Jamie wanted to argue but knew It'd be no use. "What makes you think that I can stand up to Ruby?" Jamie queried. "Because you have nothing to lose plus, you'll be moving so she can't do anything to you. Also, you will be moving to my school tomorrow, I've handled everything so you haven't got a choice. I've already talked to your parents and they've agreed because they think it'll be a new opportunity and know you don't have many friends. We have to deal with Ruby tonight, I know where she'll be. Please, Jamie, we have to try, " pleaded Vanessa. Jamie knew that she was right. "Okay, I'll give it a go, " Jamie bravely responded.
Operation: stand up to Ruby is a go! As it turns out, Vanessa knows where Ruby is because of her Instagram. I swear Ruby updates literally every 2 seconds, I should've known! Anyways, Ruby was at the beach and Jamie and Vanessa were valiantly heading in for battle. "Good luck, I'll be watching!" Vanessa whispered with a wink. Step by step, Jamie headed towards the deadly beast known as Ruby. "Look who's here, it's Little Miss Perfect, " taunted Ruby as she sipped from the straw of her chocolate milkshake. Jamie took a deep breath, it's time to stop this. "Listen, Ruby, I'm sick and tired of you and your games. This ends now. I'm moving to a new school and came here to say goodbye! " she yelled fiercely, grabbing Ruby's milkshake and pouring it over her head, "You better hope I never see you again or there will be consequences." Jamie turned away and walked off. Everybody was staring at Jamie with admiration, someone had finally stood up to this snake 🐍. This time, she didn't feel upset about it, she felt happy and proud of what she'd done. "Come back, you little brat!" screamed Ruby with her fist in the air. Ruby and her RMF's were astonished. Alana had a glimmer of hope in her eyes though it only lasted a second. "Well done, cuz, you sure showed her, " Vanessa smiled at her whilst they walked to Jamie's home together.
3 months later...
Vanessa's school was a prestigious boarding school in the countryside. Vanessa has given Jamie many tips on how to be popular and Jamie has joined her gang and made lots of new friends. This sounds like a fairytale, doesn't it? I should probably end this story here but no, this is only the beginning of Jamie's problems and the story. It's your job as reader to find out how this story ends. Discover the secrets of Jamie's new school and how her previous life will affect her story. It's not over now.
