Chapter III: Family Affair Pt.2

"That is not your choice to make!" Tenko roared at his mother.

Nikita simply held her tanto up and kept an indifferent face.

"They are mine! Given to me by father. Do you think you're greater than him? Greater than the legacy that is owed to me?!"

"If it's what I have to do to protect you, then yes."

"Protect me from what?" Tenko spat.

"Yourself…"

"That isn't your place anymore, either. Now give me back what is mine or…"

"Or what, Tenko?!" Nikita raised her voice for the first time.

Set in her ways and looking at the stance his mother took, Tenko sighed and relaxed. Sheathing his ninjatos, Tenko turned and left the room in silence. On his way out, he sees Malia standing in the hall.

"What's going on?" She asked.

"Go to bed." was all he said as he went downstairs.

Tenko opened the family safe once again and pulled out two boxes. Nikita's eyes went wide and she rushed down the steps to stop her son, but when she arrived, an obsidian Kunai and shuriken were being stabbed into the wood table.

Nikita's body jerked at the sensation like her fox had been pint down.

"Toyotomi Nikita. I herby cast you out! From the Nakashige clan. From tonight on, you will be known by your family name, Toyotomi!" Tenko shouted as Malia and Mark watched the scene confused, but with sorrow in their hearts. They couldn't understand it, but they knew something sad had just happened.

"T-Tenko.You can't do this...I'm your mother."

"And you will always be my mother. But you can not be a kitsune of the Nakashige clan! And by having my legacy without my permission, is theft of my clan's treasure. If you do not return it, I will challenge you, Toyotomi."

Nikita's eyes burned with sadness, not even the flowing streams of tears could cool her eyes. She felt pain and wether Tenko admitted it or not, kicking her out of the clan also stripped her of her right to be his mother. She knew this, and in one moment, she felt her son and late husband snatched from her soul, leaving a gaping hole in its wake.

Nikita sniffled as she straightened up. Wiping the tears from her eyes, Nikita then bowed. "I meant no offense, Nakashige- Denka."

"Denka? The secrets never stop with you, Okasan. Why did you take them?" He asked.

"Your fourth tail is coming, we talked about what that means. But at the time I didn't realize that your fourth tail would lead you to the scroll." Nikita explained.

"Go on."

"Your power of astral projection is the stuff of legend. A power your father once had. When we first met, it was like lightning. The way we connected, we did not need words and we were lost within each other's love."

Tenko looked at Malia and they held each other's gaze for a moment.

Nikita smiled and tittered. "That's how I knew your fourth tail was ready to manifest itself with terrifying potential. You and Malia are just like your father and I. I see the way you two look at each other, the way you act, and dance around each other every chance you get…

I checked your tails after that and found one of the obsidian chunks trembling, drawn to you like a magnet. All you had to do was reach out and touch it. The moment it comes in contact with your foxfire, bam, a fourth tail. " she said.

"But what does any of this have to do with the scroll?" Tenko asked.

"The Astral Body gives you the ability to have desires, emotions, imagination, and psychic abilities. It lends power which is essential for effective action and manifestation.

Astral consciousness includes the full range of emotions from fear, hate, and sorrow to love, happiness, and ecstasy. It also includes the full range of desire from a selfish and destructive desire to a common personal desire to a high spiritual aspiration to selfless service-oriented desire.

Astral experiences include dreams, fantasies, out of body experiences, near-death experiences, hallucinations, imagination, and visions.

The five astral senses are Clairaudience (astral hearing), Psychometry (astral touch/feeling), Clairvoyance (astral sight), Imagination (astral equivalent of taste), and Emotional Idealism (astral equivalent of smell). Tenko, you have all five senses, so strong, that you have developed, Sensorial Link or Empathic bond. Now it's just between you and people who have mutual emotions, but one day you will be able to touch lives and manipulate their emotions, tame psychopaths into docile slaves, and more." Nikita explained.

"The scroll teaches me how to do all of that…"

Nikita nodded her head in affirmation. "You are not ready to start your life with Inari's Scroll. But soon you will have no choice. So enjoy your time with Malia and your friends, because when you open that scroll, everything will change."

"I still don't understand why I can't manifest my fourth tail," said Tenko.

"It's because of your power. If you didn't have power like your father, the scroll would never open. But the moment that fourth tail appears and showcases your potential as a celestial Kitsune, the scroll will open and you will have to learn it's mysteries. It'll be your sacred duty, issued by Inari herself…

So now you must make a decision. Create your fourth tail, now, and start your journey, or wait?"

Tenko looked at the ground, then lifted his head, "I will create my fourth tail after the semester."

The next morning, Tenko asked Nikita about the tails of the Kitsune. She explained that that Kitsune tails served as two functions. The first was a display of ability. Kitsune will manifest their tails when they fully understand their abilities. It showed that kitsune had mastered the basics of their power. But to master the most advanced levels of a kitsunes power, the kitsune would have to train and gain experience.

The second purpose of the tails was the summoning of the Oni -a species of supernatural demonic warriors who are so powerful that they are described as a "force of nature" that is meant to be endured rather than fought. The older the sacrificial tail is, the stronger the summoned Oni will be.

"Heard you and Nikita got into it last night?"

Tenko frowned. "Who told you that?"

"You know who. But she also told me that it didn't end in a fight, so that's good."

Tenko sighed. He wasn't in the mood, Malia was off telling the interior designers what to do and he just wanted to relax on the balcony. But Mareth wouldn't allow it.

"So, you know how I decided to teach Stiles some things?" Mareth asked.

"Yes," Tenko replied.

"Well, I was doing just that last night and guess who called?"

"Who?" Tenko asked dully.

Mareth raised an eyebrow at her alpha, then rolled her eyes. "Look, you decided to put the Kitsune bullshit on hold until the end of the semester. So whatever mood you're in, you need to let it go. I cant and I won't have you like this." Mareth chided him.

Tenko lifted his head and looked at Mareth. "Well alright then, Alpha Mareth," he said.

Tenko then sat up and gave Mareth his undivided attention. Mareth smiled and continued with her story.

"It was Scott McCall… You weren't the only one to have a little spat with your momma last night. Except his ended in blows. Apparently, without her fox to run to, and with everything going on, Allison has been helping Scott "keep the peace". But Melissa caught the two of them lip-locking in his bedroom. And let me tell you, she lost it! That momma is one scary-ass wolf."

McCall House, Last night

"All I'm saying is that no one wanted a single mother before this, now that I am a wolf, I can kiss relationships goodbye." Melissa sat on her bed speaking to Jennifer on the phone.

"You don't believe that. I think that you just need some good cock. Someone to lay the pipe right, for a night of reprieve." Jennifer giggled as she gave her sage-like advice.

Melissa laughed as well. "Gosh, I forget how young you are. Just wild and free."

"Please, I haven't been wild and free for weeks. I've got me a wolfman with the strongest strike I've ever felt. Turns my legs to jelly."

The women laughed, and Melissa smiled. A girlfriend is something she hadn't had in years. But ever since she met Jeniffer, the ginger-haired lass has been a beacon of light for Melissa.

"Hear me well, lass. This is your second chance, embrace it, and stop your mopping. It takes away from that pretty face of yours… Derek just got home, I'll see you at work tomorrow. Night, my love." Jennifer finished then ended the call.

Melissa sighed and laid back in bed. After a moment she went to shower, then slid under the covers for a good night's sleep.

Sometime later in Scott's room, a light tapping sound could be heard at the window. Scott rubbed his eyes and opened the window without a second thought, assuming that it was Stiles. When Scott sat on the edge of his bed he looked towards the window once more and was shocked to see Allison.

"You shouldn't be here," Scott said.

Allison smirked. "I remember a time when you would kiss me and take me to the bed before you even said, Hello.."

"The only one stopping me is you. We're talking again, but you seem distant. And the only time I see you is when dealing with supernatural murders and hunters." said Scott.

"I've been...confused. I see things differently now. And sometimes I feel like you lack the ability to perceive what I am seeing. I love you, Scott. I would give anything to be able to snap my fingers and turn you into the perfect guy and wash away all the reasons that I am wrong for you. But it's not possible."

Scott stood up from his bed and closed the distance between him and Allison. "Just tell me what I have to do. Anything you want I'll do it. I can change for you, Allison. Just tell me.."

Allison sighed and performed a long blink. The moment her eyes opened, Scott took her lips.

At the door, Melissa listened and smelled the situation with narrowed eyes and a crooked brow. Scott and Alison separated and committed the act to their memories. Allison then spoke, " Me or your pack? What would you choose?"

The question caught Scott by surprise, then he wrestled himself in his mind. Allison watched with a new sad as she took a step back from him. Melissa felt the same hesitation in Scott that Allison saw and felt disappointed.

Allison thought about her last conversation with Tenko. And the conversation she had with her mother. She internally screamed at herself and beat herself up because she turning into a statistic. She was falling for someone like her father. And her father wouldn't hesitate to put his family above everything. Though she felt flattered from being considered for the primary roll in Scott's life. She also felt, like her father, a man should have convictions and the grit to do what was best for his family. She wanted Scott to choose his pack, his family, above her. There shouldn't have been any hesitation.

When Allison stepped out of her mind she noticed that Scott was looking at the door. When turned her head, she watched as Melissa walked into through the door with glowing golden eyes.

"Ms.McCall…"

"I think you should leave, Allison," said Melissa.

Alison nodded and left through the window. She didn't even bother to say goodbye. When Alison was gone Melissa stepped into her son's room.

"I told you that it wasn't safe to be with that girl. I told you that I didn't want her in my house. Everything is fun until her father's bullet finds a home in your head and her psychopathic grandfather cuts you in half!" Mellisa roared with agitation.

"And when you fight for your life and you're one slash away from killing an Argent, you'll find her arrows in your back!"

"She's not like that!"

"She is! She's exactly what you need to be! A fighter, to survive and make sure we survive. We may not be one big happy pack, but the moment they start picking us off, we will weaken and die."

"I won't fight her…"

"And you won't fight her family because of her…" Melissa frowned then showed her fangs before she pounced and started putting the heat on Scott with a barrage of haymakers.

"I would have kicked his ass too. So what happened next?" Tenko asked enthralled.

"He fought back… eventually. But Mellisa fucked him up good. I asked why she did it, she said that it was better to kill him now then let a bastard cut her little boy in half. It was the wolf driving her reason, but that's only because she's legit, worried. The boy's lovesick, and that shit can be fatal." Mareth replied.

"Got that right." Tenko seconded. "So where is she now?"

"With Erica. Her mother's out of town so Melissa is taking her shopping for a dress."

"A dress?" Tenko asked

"Winter Formal at the High School. I thought you would be going." Mareth replied.

"Ehh... I guess it slipped my mind. Malia, the Russians, pack bonding. Now that I think about, I haven't been to school in a while either."

Malia appeared and hugged Tenko's shoulders from behind. She then bit down on his neck playfully. "What about the Russians?" she asked.

"Nothing, Tenko was just saying how he was going to take both of us to Winter Formal tonight," Mareth answered.

"Winter what?"

"Formal, it's a party at the high school and we need to go shopping" Mareth replied with a beaming smile as she stood up and took her packmate by the arm.
