As Kadon exits the Tomb, the gigantic Academy comes into his view. Like a bastion of technology the advanced and bulky building contrasts the outside sandstone-like Tombs and the overall sandy landscape of Korriban.
[Goodness, Bioware really did not give the Academy justice... But, I feel like they never could give it justice with what they were working with...]
The sheer scape of the building and the architectual beauty was astonishing, but with that astonishment led Kadon to several depressing thoughts.
[How was the Academy built..? No, slaves undoubtedly built it. But how many is an important question. How many died for this majesty?] Kadon thought, then shook the thoughts out of his head. Pondering like that will undoubtedly get himself killed. He wasn't on Earth anymore, he could not afford to pity the many slaves that died to build the Academy, or any of the Tombs for that matter.
He needed to focus on his mission, on becoming Baras's apprentice and surviving the ensuing chaos that will occur because of it.
Kadon resolved himself, and put on his Father's favorite face, a cold one that despised all it looked upon, and walked forward into the Academy. Through the open gates, ignoring the stares of the various Acolytes and guardsmen to Overseer Tremel.
Kadon walked into the main area. In front of him was a giant obelisk with several people in front of it meditating.
[This place has changed a lot compared to the game.. I wonder if Tremel's office is still in the same place. Straight to the left and down the hallway.]
Upon entering the main area, several other Acolytes paid attention to him, sizing him up, but only for a second before moving on. The other Acolytes seemed to not pay much attention to him besides the casual glance. He was not yet a threat, although it was strange to them that they did not remember him at the Academy before.
Kadon paid the group no mind as well, they were not threats to his position as the Apprentice of Darth Baras, and Alex would come to the Academy later, so he had no reason to care for them. He just went on his way, taking a left and marching through to where he believed Tremel's office was. Because of it, he hadn't noticed the acolyte who immediately holo-called someone upon seeing him.
Kadon quickly marched through the main area and took a left into a hallway. Upon entering the hallway, he immediately knew he was going the right direction, as he could see Vemrin and one of his goons near the end of the hallway, waiting patiently for Kadon to come.
[Huh. The story is progressing exactly like the game. Which means I'm going to be shaken down by the two. I wonder how strong they actually are, in the game Vemrin was a pushover when he tried to ambush the main character.]
Vemrin was a young human man who had a scar across his face alongside a buzz cut. His goon was a bulky human man who had no major distinguishable features besides his bulkiness.
Seeing the two, Kadon had to suppress a laugh, before continuing a walk.
[The two look like that mouse show, what was it called.. Pinky and the Brain! Only problem is, Vemrin doesn't seem to have much of a brain if the plot of the game is the same as what will be happening in the future.]
As Kadon continued walking down the hallway, the two started walking towards Kadon.
"Oy, Vemrin! This 'ere the upstart trying to take your spot yea?" The goon said,
"Yes, Dolgis, I do believe this is Tremel's 'secret weapon'. Pretty impressive to be honest, but too little too late for the old man." Vemrin states, his voice rugged and coarse.
"..." Kadon said nothing, attempting to continue his walk forward ignoring the duo, but Dolgis stopped him, putting his hand on Kadon's chest.
"Hold on, rich boy, we just wanna talk. You ain't in a hurry now, aren'tcha ya?" Dolgis asked,
Kadon stared at Dolgis, lifting his head and staring straight into Dolgis's eyes. He grabbed Dolgis's hand by the wrist, squeezing it hard, making Dolgis's face flash with pain, before saying, "..Yes. I do have somewhere more important to be. Out of my way."
Kadon then let go of Dolgis's wrist. Dolgis hurriedly brought it to his chest, clutching his wrist for a second before putting his hands to his side and trying to hide the pain.
"Not quite the nicest man huh, Dolgis?" Vemrin stated, "Time to get out of here then, the 'pureblood' seems to be much more important than former slaves like us. Hope you have a nice time in the Tombs, Acolyte." He continued, his tone and eyes venomous as he walked away, Dolgis in tow.
"Th-this won't be the last time you see us, Acolyte!" Dolgis shouted before hurriedly walking away.
When the two finally left, out of sight, Kadon slumped his shoulders, putting a hand on his face.
[Goodness.. I hope I won't have to pretend to be so tough all of my now life.. It's so tiring. It also feels so pointless! If anyone just treated each other with respect, none of this would happen! Haaah, I miss the social life of Earth.. Only the pompous rich and the politicians would act like that there, but even then, a good amount of them were down to earth people and they would at least act nice! No one here is nice! In fact, its weird to be nice in the Empire! Everyone is out to get each other!]
As Kadon ranted inside his head, he walked into Overseer Tremel's office. The office was simple, just a desk and a chair behind the desk. No decorations, no statues or plant-life, just a desk and a chair. There was, however, Tremel and someone else in the room. It was his daughter, a dark-skinned human female with a Sith Warblade just like Kadon, who was arguing with Tremel about something.
"Yes daughter, my plan will work. He will be Baras's apprentice, I can feel --" Tremel says, but stops himself upon seeing Kadon, "Good, you are out of the Tomb. Early for that matter, I thought it would take a few more days at least for you to get through the beasts crawling within. Ah! You got the Warblade, I assume it is to your liking? You have seemed to.. broken it in if the hilt is anything to go off of."
"Father! You might be taking things too fast! I've been here for six months and only now gotten my warblade. Are you sure this will not come back to bite us?" Tremel's daughter protests,
"Yes, Eskella. I am sure of it. Now, Kadon, is the blade to your liking?" Tremel replies,
"It will do. I have trained in all sorts of blades, this will be no different, although I would prefer the weight to be higher." Kadon replied, his voice concise and blunt.
"Good, good. Now then, I have had the liberty of acquiring a bedroom for you on the third floor, it would be beneath you to sleep with the other Acolytes." Tremel says, then thinks for a second before turning to his daughter and saying, "Eskella, can you please show Kadon to his room? Perhaps give him a tour of the Academy as well."
"B-but Father! I don't believe-" Eskella starts to protest, but is cut off by her father,
"Please daughter, do as I say. Now, go off you two. The room is 3-46. Come see me next week Kadon for the next trial, it will take some time and work before I can get your next trial ready. Use that time to hone your strength, you will need as much as you can get." Tremel says, then turns his back to the duo and heads to his desk, turning it on and shifting through various work displayed as holograms.
Kadon and Eskella head out of the office, Eskella grumbling the whole way to Kadon's room.
Eventually, the two get there.
"This is your room I guess... This is usually the area for apprentices to lodge, but it seems your room will be here too. Goodness, my father seems to be putting his head into a noose every second you are here." Eskella states, then turns around to leave,
"Ah, Eskella. Before you leave, can I please talk with you?" Kadon asks, opening the door to his room and gesturing inside.
"Ah.. Alright then, but this will be the last time we talk, Acolyte. I do not want to be dragged into the consequences of my Father's plans." Eskella states and walks in.
