Chapter 2

The next thing I know is that we were already flying to Bradford after mom resign from her work in North Hills, attending to my papers that I will be needing to transfer into my new school, and the passport as well as the tickets that we will be needing to fly to Bradford. Edward helped her from finishing all of those tasks in one week so, here we are now flying as we know it.

"Welcome to the Denier International Airport, ladies and gentlemen. It is currently 11:45 in the afternoon local time, and it is 31 degrees Celsius outside. Please stay seated and secure your seat belt until the captain turns off the "Fasten Seat Belt" indicator for your safety and comfort. This will signal that we have left our vehicle at the gate and that you are free to proceed." The attendant said which made me look at her and then glance out the window of the plane.

"I'm nervous," I said holding onto my mother's hand because right then, I have come to realize that I will be meeting Edward's children which is making my stomach churn. I don't know if they will like me or I will like them. What if we fight all the time and ended up ruining my mom's new happy life? I don't want that.

"It will be alright. Edward said that they are all nice." She said reassuring me as she patted my hand. I doubt that would be the case in my situation who will come into their family so suddenly and without even getting to meet them beforehand?

"Please be careful while accessing the overhead bins as the heavier items may have moved throughout the trip. Also, please check the area surrounding your seat for any personal items you may have brought on board with you."

"If you need help getting off the plane, please wait until everyone else has done so before getting up from your seat. Then, one of our team members will be happy to help you."

"We would like to thank you for traveling with us on behalf of Ravenous Airlines and the whole crew, and we hope to have you aboard again soon. Enjoy your stay!" The attendant said and so, we began to stand up from our seats the moment the captain finally turned off the fasten seat belt sign.

Just before I know it, the plane had finally landed on the ground and I can't help but hear my loud pounding heart as we came closer and closer to the door. The moment, I had gotten off the plane without encountering any problem, I went walked hurriedly to find the exit so that I could get some fresh air because for some reason it was getting harder and harder for me to breathe.

"Are you alright?" Edwards said as I saw him worried. He was sweating from catching up to me.

"What's wrong Mikaela?" My mom asked then, as soon as she caught up to us. I simply shook my head as I held on to my luggage bag.

"I am fine," I said smiling.

"Jet lag?" My mom asked then and I simply nodded in return so that we could finally drop this conversation. I badly don't want to continue anymore but there is no way that I could turn my back and return to North Hill. I don't have anything to go back to.

"Then, we should head home fat," Edward said and called for a cab. A car immediately parked in front of us and the driver went out to help us with our luggage.

"Bradford Sir, Atkinson Street," Edward said and the driver nodded in return as I head into the car with my mom. Edward decided to sit in front because he will be pointing the directions to the driver since we have never been here before. After we have all settled inside the car, the driver started the engine and finally drove off to our destination.

It took an hour or so before we finally got to arrive at the town.

"We are here," Edward said excitedly. I fell asleep from the whole trip and when I glanced outside, my eyes widened in surprise to see how beautiful his house was. He is extremely wealthy I suppose. We got out of the car as well as the driver then, he went to the back to put down our luggage. Edward helped him with it and right then, I flinched when the front door of the house opened and revealed a man.

He was… okay?

No… he was not okay.

He looked like a beggar who was free-loading in the house. Don't mind what I say but he literally looks just like one and I can't help but worry for the man.

Is he a boy? Caretaker?

Looking at him as he gets closer and closer, I can't help but describe his appearance in my mind. He was tall, a 6-footer, I guess? His hair was long to the point that it was all covering his face. He wasn't even tying it up, it was just put down and completely disassembled. He has a mustache and a beard. His skin looks pale as if he hasn't been under the sun in his entire life. And his get up! Those grey pants and ripped shirt… are making my head ache like hell.

"Oh! Connor, you came?" Edward said which made me look at him in disbelief. He wasn't a beggar!

"I thought that you would be arriving at night. Why did you get here so early, I haven't even prepared myself." He explained and went towards him, helping him with all the luggage.

"That would be 85 dollars." The driver said but as soon as Edwards reached out for his pocket. The man was already holding a bill in his hand and handed it to the driver. The next thing I know is that the driver head into the car and left.

My eyes went back again from the man but my eyes widened when I saw his eyes beneath those strands of his hair, I saw him already looking at me which made averted my gaze.

"So, this must be them." He said to Edward and he nodded in return.

"Welcome." He said as he went towards s mother and hugged her. My mom didn't look surprised as if she has already seen him and knows him already.

"You must be Mikaela. Father has been telling me so many things about you." He said which made my eyebrow meet and just before I know it, he was already hugging me. At first, I thought that he would smell so bad but to my surprise he smells extremely good, and right then, I froze when I saw the brand of his shirt. A FREAKING BRANDED SHIRT!

"So… he…"

"He is my oldest son, Connor," Edwards said proudly and I nodded in return. Yes, I just didn't hear him clearly a while ago. I thought I became deaf and wasn't able to discern if what I just heard was really 'father'.

"N-Nice meeting you," I said and reached out my hand to have a handshake but I was surprised when he hugged me again. Then, break off from our embrace as he holds onto both of my shoulders

"You're so formal. We are already family. You shouldn't be so stiff." He said which simply made me smile awkwardly.

"R-Right," I said in defeat, and right then, Connor get the two of our luggage while Edward holds onto the remaining ones.

"Let's head in." He said and there, we followed them inside. The house was big, extremely spacious, and neat.

"Welcome back, Mr. Reid." The maids greeted us as soon as we head inside. They were cleaning the living room when we got in.

"Where are the two?" Edwards asked and I saw how the two maids looked at each other as if they badly don't want to tell them where they were or they will get in trouble.

"Uhm-" Yet, Connor immediately cut off one of the maids.

"I will get them." He said and so, he went upstairs.

"Come and sit," Edward said and so we did. I saw the maids get our luggage and then carried them upstairs. Right then, I froze when I saw the two brothers. The two were completely handsome unlike their father and the oldest one.

The one who looked like a middle child has red hair, he was the same height as the oldest one maybe because he is an athlete as far as I remember. He has blue eyes, red lips, and a masculine physique. The youngest one, on the other hand, has black hair the same as the oldest one but compared to the oldest, he has a neat-looking hairstyle. He has blue eyes the same as their father, red lips, and a fit body. Both of them looked ethereal and I can't help but look at them in awe.

"Nice meeting you again, Ms. Jimenez." The middle one said.

"Nice meeting you two again." My mother then replied.

"This is Terrance, the middle child and this is Bailey, the youngest one. Guys, this is Mikaela." Edwards said and I stood up to introduce myself to them.

"It was nice to finally meet you," I said offering my hand but to my surprise, the middle child slapped my hand away. I frowned at the shocking situation that just happened in front of me. Did he dare to do that in front of their father and my mother?

I looked at the man and I was surprised to see him looking pissed but I will not get intimidated by him. I glared at him which made his eyes widen.

"Father…" Bailey started to talk by then which made me snap back to reality. I glance at him because he looked like the one who I can talk to from the two but when I was about to step close to him, I froze when he said the following words which sent shivers down my spine.

"I don't like this bitch." He said which made me numb.

"BAILEY!" I heard Edward warn angrily but that didn't scare him even for a bit. So, I shifted my gaze towards the oldest one to seek for help or something because he approached me with a warm embrace but when our eyes met, I saw him smirking at me.

Right then, I knew that my life in this house would be such a living hell.
