Chapter 3

I was left completely dumbfounded.

"Bailey, you shouldn't be saying that. She will be our sister from now on." Connor said but it was already too late, I already know that he doesn't mean those words.

"My bad but can I call her something that would fit her at least… bitch really does fit her. Though, I know Dad would hate it." He said smirking and I saw Edward looking like he'll have a heart stroke right at this moment. I saw mom hold onto his arm to make him calm down.

"Oh! I know! I can call her stiff. Just by looking at her… she looks like a stick standing there while looking at us. I don't even know if she is paying attention to what I am saying." The boy said but I simply smiled at him to make him realize that I am actually listening. I saw him flinch for a moment but he turned to his usual self and smirked at me.

"So, stiff…" Yet, the boy was cut off right then, when Connor walked towards me as he patted the shoulder of his brother. It made Bailey stop and bowed down his head. He looked like he was scared of his older brother.

"We should head upstairs to your room now, right Dad?" He said smiling while looking at me, although I know that smile is fake and I hate it to death.

"Yes, it is best that you should take her upstairs to rest. We will head upstairs after I talk to Bailey." The man said and that is when I was brought back to reality when Connor suddenly hold onto my hand as we started to walk. I wanted to shake my hand away from him but his hand… was warm and I was unable to let go of it.

After the whole chaotic moment in the living room, I was still stunned but I had no choice but to leave the others downstairs so that I could escape it. I didn't want to be involved in a commotion that will only make me put in a difficult position. As much as possible, I don't want to have any trouble with them or I will only make my mother unhappy.

I want her to be happy by marrying in this family because I know that he fell deeply in love with that man although I still don't have any idea if he will take good care of her. I just badly want for all of this to work which is why I don't want to get in a fight with any of the three.

I was guided by Connor towards my room and while we were heading upstairs, he was telling me which room is which so that I wouldn't have trouble finding which is which if I needed to find someone although he jester that it won't ever happen.

Though, the truth is, I wasn't paying any attention to what he was saying. I was busy looking at our hands still intertwined. It looked like he won't let it go if I didn't remind him that he is still wrapping his hands around mine. So, I should have the courage and tell it to him.

"Uhmm… Connor." I called which made him turn to me.

"Yes?" He asked puzzled. I shyly smiled at him as I raised our hands.

"Oh!" He said not actually surprised and let go of my hand.

"So, as I was saying…" The man said as if something awkward didn't happen. He kept on talking nonstop but I couldn't keep up a while ago because of our hands that has been bothering me ever since we headed upstairs. However, now… I can finally hear him loud and clear.

In this second floor of the house, there was another area that was like a living room and from that area, the stairs continued to go up towards the third floor of the house where the master's bedroom is, the library, and Edwards's office as what I barely heard from Connor.

"This is Bailey's room. Don't ever dare to come inside without his permission and please, don't even bother to knock. Even we, his brothers are off-limits inside that room. He is a weird kid, you know." The man said which made me glance at the green door which he was pointing at and… I totally agree with him after witnessing what the hell just happened downstairs because of that little guy. He is a genius, that's what mother said but I can't help and wonder if he is some kind of twisted just like this man…

"And here, across his room is Tristan's, the middle child who was being silent downstairs but mind you, that man is loud as hell. You can just ignore him and not pay any attention to him because that man pesters people and doesn't stop even if you plead with him not to." The man added pointing to the room with a red door. So, this one is the athlete. I can tell just by looking at his physique.

"By the way, you're still studying, am I right?" He asked looking at me and I nodded in return. I saw him got serious for a moment.

"I didn't expect for you to be so younger than me." The man said seriously but afterward, I saw him flash a smile once again as if something odd didn't happen.

"College?" He asked then and I nodded in return.

"Majoring in?"

"Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering," I answered.

"Wow, numbers. Smart, eyy! I hate numbers." The man said as he continued to walk.

"So, where are you transferring?" He asked after and I stopped walking. I forgot what it was called so, I stopped to remember the name of the school. Connor might have noticed it since he came back a few steps after he looked back at me.

"It's a university but I forgot what it was called."

"Edward… I mean, your father said that Terrance will be attending it too." I explained and that is when I froze. I saw his face turn dark as he was looking at me.

"So, you're attending Royce University too." The man said as he averted his gaze, then I felt shivers down my spine as I saw him grin like a devil.

"Good luck." The man surprisingly said which made me dumbfounded.

What does he mean by those words?

"So, this here is my room." He said pointing to the black door.

"Everyone is off limits." He added as he said those words smiling even if he was implying that if someone ever tries to come inside… they will surely get in trouble and he isn't joking at all.

"But I can knock if I need to ask something?" I asked and that is when he looked at me with a pity look on his face.

"Of course, you can… but I will tell you this now…" He said heading close towards me, so I walked backwards though he continued to do so until I bumped into a wall or is it really a wall?

"I might be doing something inside and I don't want to be bothered if I am currently in the zone."

"Besides, I think that you wouldn't want to see what I am doing." The man whispered in my ears which gave me goosebumps. I don't know if that is what he was referring to but why does he bother saying those things to me?

Then, I heard him laugh out loud.

"Hey! You turned into a rock." The man said patting both of my shoulders which somehow made me brought back to reality.

"What I mean is writing. If I am writing, I don't want someone bothering me, alright?" He said and I felt my cheeks become hot. I immediately covered it with both of my hands.

"Hahaha! You're so cute." The man said caressing the top of my head and I was even more flustered.

He looked like a bum from the streets but his voice was so attractive that it is making my heart pound like hell. But, never mind that… how would I know that he is writing in his room? He is basically saying that I shouldn't bother knocking, right?

"This is your room, by the way." The man said knocking on the door behind me. I looked back and thought that it was a wall a while ago. The door was colored white. Thankfully, they didn't paint it with some tacky color.

"I thought of buying a pink door but some girls might hate pink so, I decided to go on with the white door." He said and that is when I moved aside as he opened the door for me. He made a right choice of not buying pink. Although I don't hate it… I don't really like the color pink.

The moment he opened the door, that is when I saw the inside of the room. The interior was simple and neat which I entirely like. The room is not small or big at all, it was just the right size for me. There were two windows inside, one which has a seat and filled with three different pillows, and the other one is on the other side where the study table was. The curtains were also white but it has touches of back color due to the design. The bed was what attracted me the most since it was big compared to mine from back home. I went towards it and felt it bounce as I sat down.

"Do you like the room?" Connor asked which made me realize that he was still there. He leaned onto the doorway and didn't bother to head inside.

"I love it," I replied and that is when he smiled… but now, a warming one. I can't help but think that this man is completely odd but despite that… I still feel like he is nice.

"Dinner is at seven, you can head downstairs after you take a rest." He said and I nodded in return. He turned away after that but paused then, glance at me.

"No. I'll come back to get you, don't worry." The man said changing his mind as he completely left the room, closing the door.

I still do not know what his intentions are but I feel like he is trying to be nice to me. I couldn't blame any of them… Even if I were in their case, I wouldn't accept anyone so easily in our life, especially since their mother… just recently died. I lay down and looked at the ceiling reminiscing what my mother told me back home that night.

"Their mother just died last year because of cancer. So, she said that it will be difficult for us to get along so easily but I should try to and have lots of patience." She said but… why do I feel like it will be difficult for it to happen?

I glanced to the side and saw my luggage. That is when I decided to stand up and unpack all of my stuff. Since I don't have any friends from back home… I don't have anyone to contact and talk to about all this. All I can talk to is myself. So, I decided to occupy myself by unpacking my stuff.

After I was finished, that is when I began to feel drowsy which is why I threw myself on the bed right then, I don't know what happened next because I finally drifted off to sleep.
