They appeared in the middle of a bustling area, the red robed man turned to Frost, "Go over there." He pointed at a tall building that had groups of people walking into it. They were the new recruits from all across the land, though Frost didn't know that at the time. Franny grabbed his arm and off she pulled him toward the doorway. Inside everyone stood waiting in a very large entrance room with an elevated stage at the far end.
Six flags hung above the stage. A yellow flag with a sharp lighting strike accross it, a blue flag with what looked like a drop of water in its center, a red flag with a burning fire, a black flag with a sword and shield, a gray flag with a snowflake in its center, and lastly a green flag with a plant leaf.
Loudly and without warning a voice speaks out, "You will all be tested individually and then you will choose your clan. Getting here means you will be placed, but doesn't mean you'll go where you want. Good luck and good fortune to you all." All of them looked, but no one seen where the voice came from.
"Here you go." Frost looks around and there by his side is a young woman slender and tall with a badge in her hand, on it showed the number 127. "They'll call your number when it's your turn, until then you can relax or talk to the other members that were chosen." With that she scurried away. Franny buttons on her 126 badge and Frost follows suit with his own.
"Number 1 please step through the door." An outside door opened under the stage. A young man walks in and the door closes. A few moments later a blue light hits the stage and out from the floor in the stage the young man is raised under the blue flag. "Murry of Jacobstown is now a member of the blue clan, The Splash."
This goes on for hours, Frost makes his way to a seat and makes himself comfortable for a long wait. Franny has no such patients and is pacing every so often, unable to wait patiently. Finally they hear, "Number 126, please step through the door."
"Wish me luck, I'll see you soon." As expected a yellow light glares onto the stage and Franny comes up under the yellow flag. She looks out on those left in the room and waves at Frost.
"Franny from Minst will now be a member of the yellow clan, The Yellow Flash." Moments later, "Number 127, please enter the door."
Frost makes his way to the door and once inside there is another man sitting on a chair that was a lot like the yellow robed Max who was in Minst. He motions to a seat beside him. Frost sits down. The man once again touches Frost and the unruly whits tendrils explode off of Frost again. This time the man studies it intently and then says, "You can choose from any clan, your power is strong enough to compete with most. You may even be as strong as a chief. Choose the clan you wish to be part of."
"Place me in the yellow clan." Frost says with certainty.
"Are you sure, they are the weakest clan. Their chief has only won one war battle, only the one that earned him chief status. Since then he's acted disgraceful and has not even battled the enemy. Is yellow really where you want your skills to go?" The man seemed irritated with Frost's answer.
"Yes, I am sure. The Yellow Flash for me." Frost didn't like having to repeat himself, he knew what he said should be treated as the truth. One of those traits that even without memories he knew was part of him. He was a man of his word to the fullest. "Maybe I am what gets them off the bottom." Frost didn't expect the answer he got to this last remark.
"You'll never catch us you fool, waste your talents, I don't care. We blacks will just keep winning and that's all that matters. Step on that platform, I'll let you go up." He reaches for a lever. As Frost stepped into the platform he pulled the lever, and up Frost went to come out in a bright yellow glow under the yellow flag. He then walked to room behind the stage where he found all the people who went before him.
"Frosty!!! You did choose yellow for me. Or is that all they gave you?" Franny came running from across the room where other yellow robed people stood, clearly the smallest group in the room.
"I could choose from them all, and I chose yellow because I promised you. I will not go back on a promise." All within ear shot of those words knew that Frost spoke the truth. He would never break a promise.
"Yay, lets go meet the others who are joining our clan today." Franny walks him over to a group of 4 all wearing yellow like her. All were teenagers around Franny's age, three boys and another girl. "This is Matt, Jimmy, Walter, and Amy. They were all picked to yellow too."
Walter a small brown haired boy barely 14 was the first to speak up. "Are you weak like us too? They put us together so we don't get in the strong clans way. I mean I can barely make an illusion, how useful can I be?" Frost could tell that other than Franny, they all felt that way. Useless or underpowered.
"Have faith in yourselves, as long as you have the drive to make something great out of yourself, you will." Frost's words came solid and prideful. "I will always do my best to not let down my comrades, and today you four have joined those ranks. If you do your best with me, we will not fail." The finality of his words shook the other five members, even Franny was moved.
"That's all of you, find your guides or transports and report to your clans. The next battle starts in about 2 months, be prepared." The booming voice came from nowhere, everywhere again.
A woman around Frost's age walks up to the group, "Are you all ready to go?" She sounded very kind and helpful. "I'm a transport specialist but I can only go so far with each jump. We'll take four trips to get to our base and we'll have to spend the night in Tuon, but we'll get there." She spoke with a kind smile on her face.
"I'm Franny, this is Frost, and Matt, Jimmy, Walter, and Amy. Are you already a member of the yellow clan?" Franny as flamboyant as ever.
"My name is Holly, I've been a yellow clansmen for five years now. Come, let's go outside, it's easier to jump." All the members follow Holly outside. She motions them to stand in a circle and to hold onto each other. Then in a yellow flash they're off to the next spot.
