Chapter 6 : Aurva's Ire

Looking at his powerful child,

Knowing from Aarushee his deed wild,

Chyavan said, "You are born from thigh -

Uru - in the name Aurva people will go by.

You will do great deeds,

If you know proper the people's needs."

Chyavan stayed on to help his clan,

Teaching and preaching man,

Rishi-vaalak Aurva the theories he knew

Even before birth. He grew

Up not forgetting

The misfortune of his ancestors. Upsetting

Was to him the global anarchy,

Cries of tormented still lurking

In his mind. Now all quiet in the green forest,

His mind knew no rest.

Birds chirp, river flows,

Cooling the body the cool air blows

Echoing hymns as before,

Pain in heart he always bore.

"What is the purpose of creation,

Of untimely God's intervention,

If almost none can reach there,

Where is justice, what is fair?

Animals unreached in years million-

Leaderless coach without postilion.

If they have  to reach, I can make them

Reach in a go, to me be the blame.

Even till Pralay - the doom - they know nothing,

A bit superior to insects their being

Dragging meaningless to infinity stretched

Yugs after yugs lying wretched.

If all are Brahma, I send them there

Forcefully, their souls will be bare

To Infinite Light, they won't at least

Lead a life like a beast.

Trijagat - three worlds - I will take the ruins of,

Hasten Pralay, all karma will cough

Out,- no creation, no worries;

Only the Land of Infinite Bliss."

Thus he began penance severe

Standing out among rishis compere

Generating energy that delivers

Conquest of Trijagat, creates an school of givers

Of firm advice, or destroy

Denying the good and bad alloy

Finish forever the world of complications,

In one Ambition submerge all ambitions.

His yogic energy created smoke

Making humans and animals choke,

No one neared the divine aashram,

Rendering it difficult to dwell, in charam -

Extreme - condition for aashramiks therein,

But not they thought for once leaving,

Like nothing happened, business as usual.

If you cannot grow to the ritual,

Stay where you are, do your task.

One day will go away the mask

With incessant practice, you will reach the level,

Light will dawn, truth will revel.

But Chyavan got concerned,

All the power Aurva earned

Should not go against the Will

Of the Universe, reel

One may under the hammer,

While another is enjoying glamour,

There is purpose, always,

To be the looser or the ace.

If one thinks deep, goes to the core,

He comes to know the reasons more,

Which but sprouted out from one Reason,

Six seasons from One Season.

Greeshma, Varshaa, Sharat, Hemanta

Or whether be they Sheet, Vasanta,

Chyavan could not stop his terrible child

From his terrible tapah wild.

In heaven the throne of Indra moved

As the King of gods hurriedly shoved

Off the smoke storming the heaven,

Keeping bewildered the god of rain.

At once he summoned the celestial entities,

All-prevailing Vishnu's various identities,

Surya, Chandra, Agni, Pavan - Air

And Varun the god of water

Among others. Yam, the total control,

God of Death was the sole

Unattendee;

Also notable absentee

Was Prithvee the Earth-goddess.

At his request

Devguru Brihaspati - Jupiter -

Prayed for  Pitar the father,

Lord of sky, the god of old,

Who helped the Aaryas bold

To face the hellish mountains far North,

To survive and steadily venture forth.

They all reached Aurva's aasan-place,

Beheld the great rishi in all his grace,

In his endeavor to accumulate

Infinite energy to the core great

To bell "Kleeng" the pralay sound,

To one hole make the ocean bound,

Destabilize creation to paramaanu - atom -

Destroy it stratum by stratum.

All gods, terrified, uttered "Om",

Brahma-naad, then to blossom

Creation, they sang "Hreeng",

Veej-mantra for creation that creates all being,

To nullify Aurva's power destructive.

"Shree Aurva", they called. The call compulsive

Of gathered gods Aurva's conscience reached.

Opened his eyes, his concentration breached,

Welcomed gods, prostrated to Pitar,

Seeing whom his face became brighter.

Pitar said, "O tapaswee great,

Doesn't befit you such hate.

Spare the worlds, what wrong they did?

Bhaargavs know how to themselves feed.

What do you think, Kshatriyas killed us?

We wanted to go without fuss

To an higher world, bored of life,

We provoked up this strife

Storing wealth semi-secretly

When Kuber reserved wealth exceedingly

For us. Death cannot kill us,

Neither suicide is the desired motive. Thus,

We planned this out. Whether the creation should stay or not,

Even that is the will of God.

Spiritual, material worlds will exist

Parallel. Everywhere it is He, cannot be missed.

By sacrificing heart to the full,

He enters like a raging bull.

Even in earth He can be reached."

Pitar, the great father, preached,

"Practice control, control anger,

Leave the worlds from cliffhanger."

"O Pitri", Aurva said, "How one can bear

Pregnant women's massacre? Who can hear,

See or describe act such?

As we pray to God as much,

Neither He nor any one

Came to rescue. Fun

Please don't say tears of Ihalok -

This world - just to poke

And drive humans for better.

Too costly is this game by Game-Setter.

No real ruler! If one was,

Such daring act could not pass.

My anger, even before my birth,

Will kill me or destroy this earth.

You tell me what to do."

Inconsolable Aurva's rue

Moved Pitar inwards, he remained stern,

His fire in heart in heart it burn.

"Convert, O Maharshi, your anger to fire,

Submerge in water your great ire.

All in world in water subsist,

Make your anger in water dismissed.

Your words will be true, Brahmavartya saved."

Thus, the gods, for peace, craved.

Father and the ancestor's command

Was obeyed by Aurva, leaving his mission grand.
