Ying Xuan began signing with excitement but stopped once she realised that Lee couldn't understand a word.
Seeing Xuan's disappointed posture, Lee frowned. "Just a second. Don't move." she said and rushed off somewhere.
Just as Xuan was beginning to wonder where Lee had rushed off to, she was back with a used map and a pen in her hand.
Xuan beamed as Lee turned over the map and handed it with the pen to Xuan.
'I'm loving it!!! This is the best date ever!' Xuan scrawled and Lee looked surprised.
"You're on a date with Flash J! Figures. Only Flash would think about bringing a girl to a racing ring for a date." she said and the two giggled.
At this moment, Wei Jingyu came over to them. The race was about to start and he was heading over to the bike the sponsors provided. He wasn't allowed to use his own for this race.
Lee shook his hand and said good luck.
And Ying Xuan launched herself into Jingyu's arms. She signed good luck and pecked him on the cheek, over the helmet.
Wei Jingyu looked a bit dazed as he murmured, "Like I'll be able to concentrate now." as he walked off.
Lee was doubling over in laughter as Ying Xuan sat back down and wrote, 'Lee, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?'
"I'm 21." Lee replied, her reply sounding mechanical.
Ying Xuan rolled her eyes, 'I might not be able to speak, but I can see just fine.'
Lee hung her head and said nothing.
Xuan wrote again, 'How about this? You tell me your age, and I'll answer any question you have.'
This seemed to convince Lee a bit as she nodded. "I'm 16. How do you know Flash J?" Lee spoke in the same breath.
Xuan was a bit taken aback at Lee's age. She was just 16! What was she doing in such circles at such a small age. And she was very well known here, anyone with eyes could see that.
Ying Xuan recovered herself as she saw Lee staring at her and wrote, 'We study in the same college.'
Lee nodded and popped a snack in her mouth.
Silence settled between the two for a few seconds before Xuan asked again, 'Why do you come here Lee?'
She expected Lee to avoid answering or throw out some lie. But Lee replied with a shrug, "Money."
Ying Xuan frowned and Lee continued, "Yeah. I'm too young to get any job that pays well. And well, this is the easiest place to make money. And people don't even ask who you are here."
Lee looked at Xuan who nodded. 'One more question, why do you need so much money?' she asked.
"To battle the present and prepare for the future." Lee replied in a mysterious tone.
Though she hadn't told why she needed it, Xuan could see that Lee was in desperate need of money.
She took out the 10,000 yuan she had won in the previous race and held them out towards Lee. Lee looked at the money, shocked.
"Oh no!! I can't take it! You've won it. Keep it." she said.
