I'm a shitty friend

Wei Jingyu's eyes flickered for a second to Xuan's lips before going back to her eyes. Ying Xuan took in a long breath, anticipating the next moment as Jingyu leaned in.

But he stopped the next instant as Xuan's phone buzzed. "I'll bet it's Shaoyan, he always knows how to spoil the mood." Jingyu muttered as he stepped away.

It took Xuan a minute to register what had happened. By the time she fumbled in her pockets and took out her cellphone, it had already stopped ringing.

"You know, I once read somewhere to spend more time with people who make you forget to look at your phone. And we both haven't looked at our mobiles this whole evening. I think it's a clear indicator. Right Xuan? Xuan??" Wei Jingyu called out upon receiving no answer.

Ying Xuan looked up at the sound of her name and signed, with a worried look on her face, 'I have 12 missed calls from Weiwei.'

"What?? Why do you think that is? Is everyone fine?" Wei Jingyu was immediately worried as he peeked into Xuan's phone.

No one ever called Ying Xuan until it was an emergency. Everyone usually messaged her. So, seeing 12 missed calls from Shi Weiwei, it was natural for them to be worried.

Xuan's face was so worried as she stared at her phone that Jingyu wrapped an arm around her shoulders for fear of her fainting. "Text and call Weiwei. I'll call the others and ask what's wrong." Wei Jingyu said, whipping out his own mobile and dialing numbers.

Xuan nodded and immediately sent Weiwei a text, saying, 'What's wrong Weiwei?'

Her phone buzzed the next instant as Weiwei replied, 'This is Mo Feng'er. Weiwei left an hour ago and hasn't come back since then. She even left her phone. I don't know what to do.'

Ying Xuan: 'Were you the one who called me all those times?'

Mo Feng'er: 'That was Weiwei. She kept saying she needed to talk to you. She left when you didn't pick up.'

At this point, Ying Xuan felt like a very shitty friend. She had been out enjoying her date with Jingyu while Weiwei needed her so badly.

'I'll be there in a minute.' Xuan replied to Mo Feng'er and looked up from her mobile to see Jingyu shrugging.

"Neither Shaoyan nor Zuan knew about anything. They both saw Weiwei when she left to see Mr. Yang. But they're both worried about her now. What did Weiwei say?" he asked, his brows furrowing upon seeing Xuan's worried face and glancing at her phone.

'It was Mo Feng'er. She was worried as Weiwei left the dorm an hour ago and still hasn't returned. Before she left, Weiwei wanted to talk to me, so Feng'er thought I might know something.' Ying Xuan quickly brought Wei Jingyu up to date and looked around. She didn't seem to know what to do.

"Do you want to tell someone?" Wei Jingyu asked cautiously. They both knew what alerting the authorities meant. It was almost past curfew and Shi Weiwei wouldn't be able to get away with something as mild as a detention for breaking the curfew.

Xuan shook her head and signed, 'I'm going back to the dorm. Maybe Weiwei will be returning soon. If she doesn't, then I'll look for her.'
