Training is fun. That's something Li Wei learned as he practiced. Originally, he would've been bothered by his lack of progress and he would give it up. Luckily, he had the text in his mind. By allowing him to check his status all the time, Li Wei found himself more energetic and passionate for the next level. Results affect anyone and seeing them right in front of you gives you an inner mission to do better. That's why normal people give up on something before they could see it bear fruit. They weren't seeing results.
As for Li Wei, a week's worth of training has shown tremendous progress. He managed to reach the 3rd Stage of the Rock Fist technique and he believed that it won't be long until he goes to the 4th stage. In the week, he asked the Librarian about his situation, and even he was confused about it. He had never seen a case like his and it puzzled both young and old. When the elder man checked how much Qi Li Wei stored in his mark, he claimed that it was enough to put him in the fifth stage of the White Realm.
Both sides were shocked, but Librarian Li was the one who felt more depressed than anything. He remembered that it took him eight months to do the same thing Li Wei did. In fact, he was the record holder of the fastest stabilized cultivation and it seems like it was lost to a mere five-year-old. Librarian Li felt indignant towards the unfair Heavens.
Since sleep was nearly nonexistent for Li Wei at night, he tried out his newest cultivation technique that he obtained from the Librarian. According to him, only one out of one hundred million finished their technique completely before they moved on to one that is more suitable for them. Due to this trend, the boosts at the end of the cultivation techniques have been ignored and many lose out on improvements that could've helped in a perilous situation or may have aided their cultivation somehow. Regardless, Li Wei didn't care about that all that. He only wanted to focus on the second rank of the Basic Qi Cultivation Technique.
The name didn't change as it would normally do for other series of techniques, but it didn't matter. Li Wei cultivated it with enthusiasm and enjoyed this new sensation. It was like getting hugged by a cold fog that cleared your thoughts. Throughout the night, Li Wei was in a trance. Nothing existed. No sounds. No sights. No feeling. Nothing. Just endless, cool peace.
Then morning came and the sensation abruptly changed. A warm feeling spread through his body and he felt more and more invigorated. Li Wei needed to do something and so he operated the Rock Fist and began his pursuit of the 4th stage. However, not all things last and his body started to cry out for food after a few minutes.
(Li Wei POV)
Hungry. So hungry. The food hall should be open right? Good. I think I'm gonna raid it now. Sorry elder brothers and sisters. This little brother is too hungry. I might even consider eating one of you at this rate.
Entering the place, the smell of roast beef and spicy noodles was spreading out. Then there were eggs and some kind of potato dish that was placed out. Like an angry beast, he pounced on the food that was on the table and devoured them.
Tears started to stain my face at the heavenly taste of my breakfast. Is this what it means that food will taste good after working very hard? Oh, Lord Creator. Thank you for letting me live this long to eat such greatness. If cultivation doesn't work out, I promise to become a world-class chef and create dishes beyond human comprehension for myself and others. Mostly me though.
(Normal POV)
Inevitably, every disciple woke up and gathered in the food hall. Once they saw that one-third of the plates were already taken, they started playing the blame game as to who ate that much. The chefs shook their heads and made another batch of food to appease all of them, but the disciples tried to find the person or group that was so inconsiderate towards other fellow disciples.
The Headmaster sighed. "That boy eats so much now. Honey, should I let him go hunting for his own meals eventually? I don't think my wallet or the Sect can help him in the future if eats more heavily."
"That's a good idea. If my son can not survive on his own, then he shouldn't be calling me his mom," she spoke in a firm tone.
"I mean...he isn't really our son in the first place." He immediately regretted his words.
"Huh? What did you say?" He could feel his wife glare a hole through his head.
"I said that he isn't...our biological...son." Every word that came out of his mouth became quieter as the pressure that oozed out his wife was intensifying.
She pulled back her Qi and let out a breath. "I know that. It's just that I care for him just as much as I do my flesh and blood. On the path of cultivation, he is lacking experience. He needs to learn how to be independent, to see the ugliness of humanity, and to understand that the strong have a voice and that the weak are as good as slaves."
He hugged her. "I know."
"The difficulties that I faced brought me so much fear that I almost prevented our daughters from cultivating in the first place. How would I be able to call myself a mother if I let my children die before they could spread their wings?"
"I know."
"Our eldest is nearing the age where she will explore the world as we did and I can't stop her. What right do I have to prevent her from going through what my mother allowed me to do? Use my status as her parent? That will just make her rebel and hate us before she leaves anyway." She sighed. "What can I do? How can I keep our children safe?"
"We can give them talismans to save their lives, but that's all. They deserve the chance to mature like we once did." She stayed quiet and she laid down on his shoulder and watched the sky from her window.
