...One hundred and twenty one times! It was one hell of a boring and repetitive job, but Konrad didn't stop and continued taking out the prize balls.
As soon as one of them got one prize ball, the person would put it at a separate pile and change with the other one. They didn't even look at the descriptions, simply separating the balls by type and rarity.
As it was around one hundred of them, Konrad could clearly see a pattern.
70 normal Black balls and 15 striped ones. 22 gold orbs and 7 striped ones. And last but not least... 5 Prismatic Balls and two whooping star striped ones! It was a huge harvest!...so why was Konrad and Octavia not celebrating?..
"Ughhh... Finally!!! Three hours of just taking them out! Three Hours!!! Octavia? Would you be so kind to-...Oh she's asleep...Guess I'll have to list them all by myself then..." Konrad sighed. The only excitement he had until now were the moments of finding a legendary rewards. They we're the only things that kept him going against the hateful sound of a rolling ball. As if they couldn't just make a straight line from the orb container to the prize hole, but made a freaking spiral that wasn't even visible!... wait...There was no spiral when he first came here right?...was that Machine changing or something?! Konrad suddenly became alert. He looked at the Machine while taking a few steps back and his eyes went wide. It did change! It wasn't the same as the first time he came here. The machine was slightly bigger and the outer shell looked as if it was a black, metal...tree trunk? Yeah! It was as if the Machine was a tree trunk with red veins, and the Crystal ball that housed the prize orbs was the crown held in place by the leafless branches... He never even realized that fact because the machine was changing very slowly!
He became even more interested in the origin of The Lottery. What was it? He didn't know. Who made it? He didn't know either.
Suddenly a sudden thought struck him as he looked at the now empty blood tank, that on closer inspection, also grew slightly, together with the weird wood that encompassed it's lower parts.
'Was my blood the nourishment for it? Or what?' He thought.
Then his eyes fell onto the lever...Once more wouldn't hurt, since it was for research...
He grabbed the top of the lever, feeling the unpleasant, yet already familiar, feeling of being stabbed...
He continued supplying his fresh blood until it finally reached one liter. Then he took away his hand and secured the wound. A small Mithrill based formation jumped out of his inventory before activating. It was as good a time as any to test his healing magic!
At first nothing happened, but after a while, the wound that he held above the formation stopped bleeding. Then slowly, the wound began to mend and after five minutes, it was finally gone!
"Heh, cool...but too slow and it left a scar. Its nothing like the potions but it's still very useful... A good start i guess..." He muttered, making a mental note.
His eyes turned back to the tank. He needed to have a good look at the machine just after pulling the lever.
A rope appeared in his hand, and Konrad wrapped it around the lever, before taking a few steps back and pulling it towards him, successfully activating the lottery from a few meters away.
The blood poured into the unknown and the Machine clicked, indicating, that another prize ball would soon roll out of it, but Konrad didn't pay attention to it. He was focusing to see, if anything in the machine visibly changed, and it didn't took him long to find it.
He could see the crimson veins on the black metal slightly lit up around the tank before the light wandered towards the Machine. It moved up, until it reached the branches that wrapped around the big, crystal, spherical container. The light moved up those branches, before reaching the top of the sphere, where the branches connected with each other.
Konrad never paid much attention to the container after the first time when he confirmed what types of prize orbs were contained inside but at this exact moment he received an answer to a question that he should have asked a long time ago...
"Where does this rewards come from?!"
Konrad watched with fascination as the light that clashed at the center top of the sphere turned out to originate from blood that moved through those red veins. The blood actually sipped through the top into the crystal sphere where it gathered into a bigger and bigger drop before crystalizing into a golden sphere that fell into the container without any sound.
It was a shocking sight for Konrad but it only explained one thing while making a few more questions.
Konrad sighed. "So that's where the prizes come from. Then the blood is both the nourishment for the machine and the uhh... source of the prizes? well...it's also the payment for them so its a bit like when you water a plant. This Lottery is the plant, my blood is the water and the prizes are the fruits...Neat." He muttered with a mixed expression.
Finally though, his face turned back to the resigned one he had before his short distraction.
He needed to check and document all those prizes now!
He grabbed yet another black orb from the prize hole and muttered. "This is going to be a long day..."

//Few hours Later//
"Finally! I'm done!" Exclaimed Konrad triumphantly. All the prizes with the exception of the seven legendaries were neatly put in order, documented and counted. It was time to see what awesomeness awaited him inside of those inconspicuous rainbow balls...but first let's have one last look at the list he made so far....

Konrad grinned seeing the list of items he won. Some of them were already Shockingly awesome, like the Poison Immunity or another increase in Mana and Health Regeneration! There was even some kind of cool sounding technique, and two magic items! He got an enchanted sword for crying out loud! And he couldn't wait to see how the Ring actually worked, but it was time to check the Legendary prizes now!
Konrad got ahold of the prizes and started reading through their descriptions before writing them down in the previously mentioned parchment.

"...Haa...huh?! Wait a little second! Why is there a broken sword among the legendary rewards?!" Suddenly exclaimed Konrad as he was reading through the amazing rewards from the legendary orbs.
His hand quickly grabbed the prize orb that clearly read 'Broken Sword' and his eyes shot open.
"Weird. Let's see what you are then..." But before he could actually open the reward, he was stopped by a voice from behind him.
*Daddy! Why did you not wake me up!!! I wanted to help you look through the rewards!* Shouted an agitated Octavia with her voice resounding painfully deep inside of his head. A disadvantage of their pseudo telepathic communication.
"Ow! Octavia please don't shout! And sorry. I saw how exhausted you were so I let you sleep while i began writing down all the rewards. We can open them together. I actually think there's one skill that is almost perfect for you!" Said Konrad smiling at the last part.
Octavia instantly became excited and happy so Konrad knew that he dodged a bullet there...
