"Welcome students! I am Professor Remus Lupin and I'm your new Defense against the Dark Arts Teacher. Mr Lockhart sadly had to leave due to some unfortunate...circumstances." The introductions started and Konrad watched how Remus led the lesson. He had to admit that Lupin was a much better teacher than even some old teachers at Hogwarts. He really hoped that the Curse on the DADA position was placed on the Ravenclaw's Diadem because Remus teaching would actually bring some improvements to the quality of teaching in this school.
Soon the lessons ended and everyone went for the next one chatting about how good this lesson was compared to the past ones. Konrad of course decided to stay and approach Lupin knowing how insecure and ashamed he is.
"I'll stay with you!" Hermione said when he said he wanted to stay after class.
"....alright then come. Konrad said and the duo went to Remus.
Lupin saw them approaching and felt some dread at talking with Konrad.
"Hello professor, we wanted to say, that it was the best DADA lesson we ever had and according to the older year students past experiences it was probably better than it was for many years." Konrad started to break some ice with the clearly terrified Werewolf.
"Yes, it was great! You're clearly much more qualified for the position than many DADA teachers before you!" Added Hermione.
Remus wasn't sure what to say. He only managed to blurt out-
"Thank you but I..Ahh I'm sure there were some good teachers before me, now you two are Konrad and Hermione if I remember correctly, right?" He said.
"That's right." Hermione said.
"We actually wanted to talk about something with you professor, or should I call you Moony?." Konrad said with a mischievous smirk.
Remus had a shocked expression hearing his old nickname.
"How do you know that nickname Konrad?" He said realizing that the son of his best friend must have knew about him, and probably feel angry at him for never visiting or anything.
Konrad smiled. He could use that nickname because the new and changed Petunia actually told him stories about his parents and showed him the few rare letters she got from her sister where the name Moony showed itself more than once, and asked a few people about it, like Hagrid or the other professor. The name actually other than from the letters, came from a person he wasn't expecting, Professor Filtwick. Turns out he learned about their nicknames by overhearing the marauders once talking to each other using the nicknames, and he thought it would be a fun fact to add the the conversation Konrad started.
"Aunt told me everything she knew about mom and her life at Hogwarts, and I also Learned about it from professor Flitwick." Konrad said.
"A...ahh I see, but...your aunt? Do you mean Petunia?!" Asked Remus now worried about Konrad's wellbeing.
Konrad quickly explained how Petunia became a very good and caring person for him after learning about his mother's death, easing the worry of Lupin. Then he came to the main part.
"Now professor, I'd like to talk about the most important matter. Do you recognize it?" Konrad showed him the old marauders map. Remus was really surprised seeing it.
"Our old map! So it's you who have it now!...you know you shouldn't show it to me. I'm the professor of this school, and this is a dangerous artifact." He said with a mischievous smirk now. He didn't even realize when he became more comfortable talking with the boy.
Hermione watched the exchange silently trying to understand Konrad's motives and remembered the rat animagus traitor Konrad told her about 'so that's what you're trying to do my dear! Fufu then go on I won't interupt' she thought, but she actually used her Leglimency to make Konrad hear it. A neat trick the trio learned a few weeks ago.
"Konrad smiled hearing Hermione's thoughts, and then he replied to Remus.
"Well I'm actually showing it to you because I found something that worries me, and you're the only one who might do something about it. But only if you promise me not to act without thinking and hear me first." Konrad said.
Remus was curious yet disturbed but in the end accepted the conditions.
Konrad opened the map and shoved him a dot in the Hufflepuff tower with the words Petter Pettigrew glued to it. That revelation shocked Lupin. Konrad explained how the dot apparently led to a rat of one of the boys and if he's alive then he must have a reason to hide. Konrad said how that lead him to believe Sirius was actually innocent. That caused Lupin to fell terrible with himself and he wanted to instantly rush and kill the damn rat. But he remembered to not act rush. Together the trio made the plan to catch the rat and call Amelia Bones to present it to her secretly. The less people know the better chance Sirius is safely pro ugh this from Azkaban.
A few days later Konrad sneaked to the Hufflepuff common room using the invisibility cloak. They decided to let Konrad do it after Konrad showed Lupin how he could cast stupefy and mufliato to remove sounds. Well, Konrad had to beg Lupin to allow him so that Lupin didn't do something rash that Remus had to admit was actually quiet possible. There was also the werewolf smell to consider. People might miss it but a rat had a much better sense of smell so letting a werewolf and add to it a squinted werewolf to go after the rat wasn't a good idea.
Konrad walked through the Hufflepuff corridors and finally came to the place where the map indicated Peter. He was about to go inside but stopped hearing some muffled shouts from a room down the corridor. He was pretty sure he recognized the voice of Draco and Ron. '...nope, nope nope nope, not going in there!' He thought and went to the room where Pettigrew was.
The cursed rat lied on the bed as if he owned it. Konrad walked closer, and then the rat turned around. Konrad simply used his wandless magic and the rat lifted up into the air where he couldn't do anything and then Konrad simply throw a stunner making the rat go limp. He went back down the corridor trying to ignore the muffled shouts and voices of other people that sounded kind and pleasant yet somehow sinister. He shuddered ant went back to where Lupin waited in his office.
To Konrad's surprise Amelia Bones was already in the room together with Remus.
"Hello again mr Potter. How is it Whenever I'm called to Hogwarts you have something to do with it? I hope it's not going to become a habit?" She said jokingly yet her expression was quiet 'Sirius'.
Konrad presented the rat that Amelia easily identified to be an animagus and Remus recognized of being Peter. She transformed him back to human form and Konrad forced a Veritaserum into his mouth when the other two adults pretended to look outside the window. After stripping the animagus from any possessions and warding the room against animagi, after konrad's reminder (yep she would forget about it of course, every one always forget to ward against animagi) they woke him up and started questioning and boy was there a lot to question. Remus had a really hard time stoping himself from killing the man while Konrad had a sad expression hearing about the betrayal. He knew about it but it still pained him because he pretty much liked his parents in this year he spend with them.
When there was nothing more to question Amelia took him to the Ministry where a quick silent trial would be held. She once again praised the few advices Konrad gave her, and the Retrial or actually first trial of Sirius Black and the trial of Pettigrew would be happening as soon as possible at the same time and she would go fetch Sirius herself.
The next few days come to past normally. Konrad, Luna and hermione kept doing their projects while Konrad continued visiting Remus who told him many stories about his parents and the Marauders themselves. Konrad quiet enjoyed that actually and sometimes brought Luna and Hermione with himself. When this was happening The trio also observed the magic inside Lupin. They were curious how the werewolf curse worked and if they could do something about it. Luna was the only one who could actually tell the difference between Remus and other wizards thanks to her op magesight that neither Konrad nor Hermione still couldn't grasp as much as Luna could do from the day she was born.
Luna said that there was a small barely visible spot of black colored magic inside his heart that grew a little the close they were to the full moon. An even less visible wisps of this magic were connected to different parts of Remus's body, probably giving him heightened senses. Konrad and Luna speculated that they could probably make an amulet from the philosophers stone that absorbed or guided the dark energy out using the right runes but it needed further research for now.
Finally came the day Konrad awaited. The daily Prophet announced Sirius Black being cleared of all charges and the discovery and imprisonment of the real killer Peter Pettigrew. Sirius was to be spending time recuperating in saint Mungo's while being protected by two trustworthy Aurors.(idea of Konrad to save Sirius from potential attempts on his life *khekheMalfoykhekhe*)
Konrad smiled when he read that Sirius's first demand after being freed was to see his godson. He looked at the staff table and saw Remus practically beaming with happiness and the headmaster looking ashamed and happy. That once again made Konrad believe that the old man was exactly that - old, and as much as he meant well he wasn't doing a really good job, so he didn't regret taking his wand from him.
Another few weeks passed and one of their side projects finally brought fruit! They cracked the enchantment on the Hufflepuff's Cup! It was supposed to increase the amount of the liquid you put inside and the trio wondered for a long time how the cup worked. Finally they found out the process and it surprisingly helped them in their main project somehow. The cup collected the air around him and using the ambient magic copied the liquid inside the cup. What was amazing was that it could possibly copy even potions but it would do it much slower. The trio quickly assimilated the idea from the cup into the project of the big formation and it shrunken it quiet a bit making them believe that they would only need another month instead of two before all the pieces are ready. The Founders really were geniuses, they thought. Well they could probably make the cup much stronger if they could add an input for their own magic instead of the ambient one. Seems like Helga didn't know how to add both at the same time or her control was too crude causing the liquid to be destroyed, so she removed the options. Well, nothing a philosophers stone couldn't handle 'damn this stone is just to handy!' Konrad thought. 'But let's leave it for another time' he added in his mind.
Only the next day, Sirius was finally discharged from the hospital. Konrad was really looking up too see him. He could tell how fun of a guy he was just by the few letters he got from him and the Nimbus 2001 he send him.(even if it was basically a bribe) Konrad was looking forward to meet his godfather, 'I want to see his expression when he learns about my little harem hahaha!'
