A Child Spawn From Hell

The smurf ran away, but I'm stuck in another situation: what should I do with this kid? Leave her and run away? Leave her at the police station? Leave her at a random hotel room and give that guy the address?

"Your face looks scary." The kid pulled my right sleeve.

Right, she's a kid, if I abandon her and push off my responsibilities then my conscience would hurt... I bet Yang Li would be laughing near half-death right now if I said that in front of him.

She looks at me with bright and innocent eyes and loudly announces in public, "Are you a pedoph-"

I cover her mouth before she could finish her question, she already caught the attention of people around us. What is that smurf teaching this kid?

"How about start by telling me your name?" I force myself to smile. Did that man ever teach this child common sense?

"Big brother said I shouldn't tell strangers my name." The people around us are looking at me suspiciously, I should sort this problem before getting mistaken as a potential kidnapper.

"I had a conversation in the hospital with your brother remember?" I remind her to see if she'd forgotten me.

She glares and pouts at me for a second, then points at my face, "Your big brother's sick friend." The way she phrased that sentence made me sound like I have a mental illness.

Even though we're in front of a movie theater, I'm not going in there today, ever. The kid probably wants to watch something innocent and pretty like talking animals or superhero defeating bad guys-

Someone interrupted my thoughts by pulling my sleeve again, I look down and she stares back at me.

"I wanna watch that movie!" She grabs onto the corner of my jacket and pointed at a movie poster with a man wearing holes in his clothes and blood coming out of his forehead, tightening up to a chair in a dark room.

I'm not very good with horror movies. Most horror movies aren't really scary, the ones that are scary are filled with jump scares, and the carefully detailed movies that have great ratings on them are filled with too much gore that makes me want to throw up.

"I don't think-"

She interrupts me before I can reject her, "Please?"

Are you a puppy? But I can't just stand here with her forever, because someone is going to call the police because of potentially suspicious activity.

She spent the entire two hours laughing and giggling about how weird the actors were screaming and pointing at an empty space with a pale face. I must say, these actors are good... good enough to get me in trouble for a child being too loud. They didn't even question why she's in there, probably because of her behavior. The way she laughs at how the actors play the dead bodies, even if you say she was born from hell, I would believe you.

Now she's dragging me to a theme park. I don't know if I'm supposed to be surprised, it's the same one where I flip Li Honglie's parents off. If I see that man again I'll definitely file a child abuse report.

All of this thinking is making my head hurt. If I brought my anxiety to this word too, it might be a problem.

I took out Xie Feihao's phone and dials Yang Li while sitting next to a girl from hell in a taxi car, "Hey, can you get me depressant?" I asked as I took off the cheaper pair of glasses.

"Huh? I thought you already have a bottle." The background noises from the other side is full of chattering, is he in a crowded place?

"I lost that bottle after Chen Bai told me to drop my bag and run during the shooting practice, didn't have time to get another one." Not to mention that thing saved my life after it shot through my bag and shattered a bottle of acetone that I was going to remove dried paint on clothing. Let's say the bullet scraped the metal cap of my medicine, created a spark, and voila, the whole thing is in flames.

"No wonder that you've been a grump for the past week." He continued the conversation in a bright tone, "By the way, should I get the cherry lollipop or the green apple one?"

"Are you trying to raise my blood sugar? It's already high enough considering the amount of paperwork I need to check every day."

Yang Li stayed silent for a bit, all I could hear is the chatters in the background, "...Then would you like one?" And here I thought he realized something. Still the same Yang Li who acts like an idiot and hates math.

"We're here we're here we're here!" The kid jumped up and down on the seat and I wish the seatbelt would act as a rope.

"Aw, Haohao hanged up." Yang Li checks his phone and hides it in his pocket.

"Why does he need depressants? I haven't seen him use it." Yang Li quickly turns his head and found Chen Bai with a stranger with blue hair.

"As the financial supporter of the show, you sure ask a lot of questions about a certain crew." The stranger points out.

"As the special guest who is just here to take a peek at the scene, you sure like to stick your nose into other people's business, Mister Leng Mo." Yang Li recognize that name, but he couldn't put his finger on it

Leng Mo gave a similar smile that Yang Li use to see, a fake actor smile that hides both malice and good intentions, he never liked the ones who pretend to be innocent.

"Tsk," Chen Bai clicked his tongue and turns to Yang Li, "We have a few things to talk about." Yang Li thinks he understands what Chen Bai means. He probably meant talk about Xie Feihao, since he didn't even realize about the depressants.

"Now?" Yang Li asks. He needs to get the medicine and it'll be a long line, especially since it's the weekend.

Chen Bai gave a nod.

"That sounds nice." Leng Mo replied to the question for Chen Bai since he didn't say anything, "Mind if I join too?"

Businessmen, politicians, lawyers, and actors, these people are the ones that Yang Li hates the most because he couldn't read their expressions and understand the hidden meaning of their words.
