Chapter 12: Adoption

Seeing the puppy eyes of her wife, Ron sighed in resignation. How can he decline if the baby will make her happy. Looking at her right now, he will become a demon in her eyes if he refused.

"Ok…" he resigned. Seeing the blooming excitement of his wife made his heart skip a beat. 'She's really beautiful' he thought.

"…But…" he added, which garnered a frown from the woman. She then crossed her arms across her chest waiting for his explanation.

"…only if nobody claimed her for a month" he continued while sticking out his forefinger gesturing for number '1'.

Beautiful. That's the only thing that came to Ron's mind seeing her wife smiling in delight. He saw her every action in slow motion while she was reaching out her hands to hug him tightly. Her brown curly hair swayed as she moved closer to him. She bumped him lightly but forceful enough for him to step back. He responded to her hugs tightly and kissed her crown.

"I love you" she whispered.

"I love you too" he replied.

Seeing the lovebirds display their affection, Doctor Lee frowned and said in annoyance, "Alright. Alright. Break up. Break up. Spare this old bachelor from this scene. It hurts my eyes."

Mina giggled and move away from her husband's embrace while Ron scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. Hand in hand they walked to the reception area to settle the registration of the child. They will be registered as the baby parents and the documentation will be finalized a month after that. They both wished that nobody would claim her as both of them are yearning to have a child.

A month has passed in a blink of an eye. As if the heavens heard their prayer, nobody claimed for the child and they became her parents successfully. The baby was released from the hospital a week after her admission. The couple has been taking care of her and would be extremely saddened if someone claimed to be her parents. Luckily, nobody did. Now, the family of three are living in harmony.

Time goes by fast as the days turned into months, months into years, and years into decades. The couple has witnessed every milestone she achieved. From her first babble to her first step, from her first day at school to completing her primary school with flying colors and, from her finding joy in simplest thing to the greatest heartbreak she experienced. Everything was cherished by the couple. Their only regret is that one of them will not be able to see her fall in love and get married, or even see her children. That person's only wish is for them to move on and be happy.
