13. Stupid Luli

They jumped from their seats when they heard the news.

''What dod you say? Qingqing got sick? Did anyone call for a doctor?''

Lee Weiming stood there and sighed.

''She told me in school that someone forced her to eat fatty food and she couldn't handle it. She was pale whole time and had cramps for half of a day. Elders, I know you all think she is a thin and small child, but sometimes too much of good may harm.''

Lee Jian and Lee Huan simultaneously looked at Fang Biyu that tried to avoid their stare.

''I did it as I saw her eating like a bird. I didn't know... Lets fist hear what will Doctor Han say.''

Lee Jian could see that she really felt bad so he let it go.

''Tell Doctor Han to come right away straight back here and give us the report.''

Lee Weiming was worried as well but he couldn't go to her private rooms as girls could.

An hour later a middle-aged man came in and bowed deeply.

Lee Huan stood up and rushed in front of him. ''Doctor Han, how is she?''

''With all the respect... she ate the wrong food. It seems since her...cough, sickness happened, her health became worse. Her internal organs became quite weak. I fear in future she will have many health issues. I will write the foods she can eat and will write the prescription for medicine.''

Everyone paled. Even the younger ones. ''You mean after that situation her health...''

Fang Biyu stood up and rushed towards him with begging eyes. ''Is there no medicine to help her recover health? I have many friends and I could find rare plants. Just tell me what.''

Doctor Han shook his head. ''Her health is too weak. If you give her in her condition strong medicine to strengthen her body and her blood, she might as well start puking it. Right now she must be careful, very careful.''

Everyone suddenly felt heavy. Such a good, happy child to have such fate.

Lee Huan pressed his lips and looked at him in determination. ''Is there anything we can do?''

''Yes, she must be careful about coldness. She holds a lot of coldness in her stomach. She can't be too cold or too hot as well. Her food should be made after her taste. I spoke to her and it seems she doesn't like fat or spicy foods. Let her choose some lighter dishes and she can actually live for a long time. She just can't do many things others do.''

Lee Weiming sighed. ''She wanted to learn how to ride a horse.''

''Horse riding is not a bad idea as long she doesn't overdo it. Light exercises like walking and slow horse riding will be beneficial for her health. But don't overdo it.'' Doctor Han explained a few more things and after bowing one more time left the Gong Lee Estate. Outside he stood and looked at the closing gate and sighed. ''Poor child. Poisoned by own mother and now has to live with these consequences. The poor child indeed.''

Actually, since she woke up everyone started liking her. Even the doctor liked the lively child. But knowing that her health became like that because of the strange hate her mother had, he felt quite annoyed. Thinking about the situation in his own household he smiled brightly. At least in his household, there are no weird people.

In her room, Lan and Luli rushed to help Lee Xiaoqing prepare for bed. She shook her head as she saw their tiered faces.

''You two go now and rest. The whole day you were running around me. From today on I will give you two shifts. One will be in the morning or in the evening and you will be given a set of servants that you will order to help you around.''

''But young miss, how can we order someone who is older than us?'' Luli was afraid to do that but Lan just poked her head.

''Early or later we would have to order many more people. It will be easier for us at the same time. We can serve her in the inner room but those helpers can do work in outer rooms.''

Lee Xiaoqing nodded. ''With time work around me will become more and you two are appointed to learn everything so you can become first attendants by my side. The rough servants outside are something else. You must learn it now. Later, it will be too later.''

Luli still felt uncomfortable until she didn't go to the room that she shared with Lan.

''What to do. I do not think this will be good.''

Lan looked at her straightforwardly. ''Why not?''

''I learned to have respect to Elders...''

Lan flatly poked her forehead again. ''Idiot. These people are not your Elders and even if they were and they were servants of our place, you still would have to order them around. If there is no control then there will be anarchy. Do you want servants to slight our miss when no one is watching?''

''Of course not.''

''Then you must become stronger. For her sake. You must.''

Lan knew that if they fail their miss their lives might not turn well. Lee Xiaoqing might not be from the main family but was definitely loved by her Elders and family members. Her future is ensured. When the time comes she needs to get married she knew that she would be able to stand with high head in front fo her future inlaws.

But on the other hand, Luli was having her doubts still. She didn't feel comfortable ordering other people to do her work and was the next morning quite honest. ''Miss, I would like to work as a normal servant. I just can't order people around.''

Lee Xiaoqing nodded. By now she knew her attitude and smiled. ''Good. I will ask our Head Steward to send you to do common work while I will choose myself a new main maid. Luli, I will ask you just one more time. Are you sure you don't want this position.''

But Luli was certain about this so she just gave up. ''Fine. Do as you wish. Lan, bring me the Head Steward. Tell him to bring me a few girls that have a clean background and I will choose a couple of them to help around. We will need second and third class servants as well.''

Lan respectfully bowed. ''Yes miss. I will hurry with message fro Head Steward. Will be right back.''

She pulled Luli by the hand and pointed at their room. Pack your things, you will be transferred.''

Luli nibbled her lips. ''Can't I stay here as a servant?''

But Lan shook her head. ''I know why miss send you away. You really would be troublesome n future. Never mind let's hurry. '' She had no wish to explain further to someone who didn't care about own future. Age is no excuse, not now and not ever...
