The Party (2)

As soon as Lin Ya saw her Uncle gesturing for her to come behind the stage, she escaped her conversation with CEO Qin and went to accompany him. 'Well, at least he doesn't know who I am yet.' She thinks to herself with a light smile. Her cheeks are still warm from the encounter which confuses her. 'What are you blushing about, Lin Ya?' she thinks. She makes a little bit of small talk with women commenting on her dress as she rushes towards the stage.

Lin Ya soon reaches her Uncle and he pats her shoulder. "Are you ready for your introduction to society?" She shakes her head from side to side with a playful smile. This earns her a laugh from Uncle Lin.

"Well, you get to be introduced anyway then." And her eyes light up as she nods. She knows what to do now. Wait until her uncle introduces her onto stage and then the show is all hers. A mischievous glint passes through her eyes as she peeks out into the crowd secretly and meets Fan Mei's eyes. Fan Mei alone knows all about what is about to transpire here.

Uncle Lin stands on the stage with a microphone and calls for the attention of the room. Instantly, the people go silent. The dance floor is abandoned and murmurs go to nothing.

"Thank you for attending my nieces 25th birthday party. Many of you are probably wondering where she is, however, she has been amongst you the entire time." At the last sentence the crowd starts to murmur again. Everybody is surprised and they look around themselves trying to find a person who they don't recognize which proves difficult with all of the masks.

Uncle Lin waits for the commotion to die down before continuing to speak. "I will now introduce to you my niece, whom I consider my own daughter. She is the CEO and founder of LY enterprises. Her name is Lin Ya. Please welcome her kindly."

The lights dim a little bit and a young woman makes her way to center stage. For a minute, nobody makes a sound, nobody even breathes out loud. The only sound is the small sounds of heels hitting the stage wood. The girl is absolutely beautiful, even with a mask covering nearly half of her face.

Seeing the once chattery crowd at a dead silence, the girl does something unexpected. Her dainty white fingers devoid of any jewelry unhook the mask from her face. She doesn't do this action too quickly nor too slowly but every second it takes is in slow motion for the audience. Finally the mask is lifted off of her face.

Her face possesses 'beauty that could launch a thousand ships [1].' Seeing the still petrified audience, the girl breaks into a light laugh and smile that dazes the entire male population of the room. Then she holds up the microphone and speaks to the still mute crowd.

"Hello. I am Lin Ya. Thank you for attending this party. I am looking forward to talking and meeting with all of you in the near future." Her voice is crisp and sweet and it oozes confidence. People who believed that she shouldn't have received most eligible bachelorette were having their faces slapped harder by the second. This girl was simply too beautiful.

Finally, the crowd snaps back into reality and gives a smattering of applause to the beauty on the stage. This earns them another dazzling smile from Lin Ya as she hands back the microphone to a beaming Uncle Lin.

"I hope you can treat my niece well in the future. Being a CEO is hard enough as it is." He jokes which gets a lot of nods from the audience. Continuing, Uncle Lin says "I am sure that many of you have questions about business or other matters so I will pass the stage back to Lin Ya." This earns him a quick look from Lin Ya which expresses her dissatisfaction at the arrangement.

"Hello again, does anybody have any questions, if not now, you can approach me after?" Her sweet voice rings out one again and it is a second before a few people hollar:

Lin Ya's eyes are wide open, and her face is a little bit pink. This only enhances her beauty. As she slightly nods her head, peering into the audience as all of the young men look at her with even more interest.

"Um, well then, I think that we should keep enjoying the night. Thank you again." Lin Ya quickly retreats from the stage and hands the microphone with a slightly dirty look to Uncle Lin who couldn't be looking happier at what is happening and the effect his niece has on everybody.

Knowing that Uncle Lin is thinking of marrying her off soon Lin Ya can't help but tease him. "Well uncle, it seems like you will be the one dealing with all of the proposals and marriage contracts from now on. I hope you are satisfied with yourself."

Uncle Lin's smile only gets wider. "Are you willing to marry or at least date any person here right now?" Unconsciously, Lin Ya's mind shoots to Qin Jie - the only person she has met so far - and she quickly pushes it out of her head. But not before the blush colors her cheeks pink. Uncle Lin raises a brow.

"It looks like you DO have somebody on your mind. I will find out in good time then, hehe." Uncle Lin then walks off leaving a slightly stunned Lin Ya standing backstage while the party resumes below.

(A/N: Lin Ya you are supposed to be cold and untouchable...)
