16. 'Coordination'

*Song Meng POV

Wu He and I spent the night planning on how to do the proposals. We eventually decided to go with the colors that Qin Shan liked. During the First class, we went out to buy all the materials. And we spent Second class setting up the location. I chose the gazebo because it was the first place that I could really get a reaction out of Qin Shan. Before we knew it, third class was out.

"Dude, the girls are coming." Wu He spotted them first. My eyes immediately go to Qin Shan. Today, as every day, she looks amazing wearing black, high waisted shorts with a beige pull over. I could stare at her for hours.

As they approach, I start getting nervous. Thoughts are piling up through my head. 'What if I'm rejected. What if she just sees us as friends. What if she gets embarrassed Was what I did good enough.' All these thoughts evaporate when she meets my eyes and gives me a big smile.

Wu He and I step forward and we take them into the gazebo. I watch Qin Shan as her eyes light up. They get all starry and her cheeks light up a gentle pink. Once Wu He pulls her friend to the side, I know it is the time. Something I have been equally awaiting and dreading. The proposal.

I look at her dead in the eyes and try to get a handle on my expressions;

"Qin Shan, will you attend the halloween dance with me? It would mean a lot if you would do so." Her eyes widen and her cheeks flush a vibrant beautiful pink.

"I guess we can try it out." Her words are quiet, but they carry a deeper meaning which we both know. I pull her into an embrace. It feels so good to be accepted. I don't pay attention to anything but her, Wu He proposes to her friend and she accepts. Our coordination was spot on today - as I hope it always is in the future.

While I could embrace her forever, we are still students. I end our hug and take her hand. She looks really happy until I ask her if she wants to go back to fourth class. She just smiles and to my delight, she wants to stay with me. This girl makes my day without any effort at all.

We walk back hand and hand and the entire time, I know my face is glowing. Other students notice and stare and point, but I don't care. Qin Shan is relaxed as well. We have claimed each other and that is enough for the both of us.

"On the 30th, I will meet you at the gazebo at 6:00 sharp, okay?" Her soft voice snaps me out of my thoughts. I was so focused on this event, I forgot about the actual meaning of my proposal.

"Deal. Don't be late." I say teasingly. She blushes and nods. We depart and the girls head back to their dorm, by the way they are holding each other, they both seem so delighted and full of life right now. It really puts a smile on my face to see them happy.

"So when's the wedding." (Sigh) Leave it to Wu He to ruin the mood, but I'm to happy to be bothered by his teasing.

"When it happens, you won't be invited." I say and turn away to his shocked face. He stays frozen for a second before countering.

"When are you going to reveal yourself to her?" Darn. I really didn't think this all the way through. I'll have to tell her that I'm not quite human eventually but for now, we can slowly build our trust and understanding for each other.

"Eventually." I say and Wu He nods. "Good."

We go back to our dorm to rest up a little bit. The next few days fly by quickly. There is more bustling around in the school as everyone stresses about the upcoming dance. The halloween dance is something that nearly the entire school is in attendance for. Most people will try crazy things to get dates by the last few days. While being in costume is encouraged, most people just take the formal side. I've been proposed to several times in the last day and have had the relish of saying "I already have a date" to the yellow, green and brown figures. They honestly just blur together.

Wu He is getting excited to go with his date, Xiao Huan. Their personality types seem similar - Qin Shan mentioned this. She hopes that they will get it together even after the dance and frankly, I'm beginning to hope so to. They seem pretty genuine and it would be nice for Wu He to find someone who isn't an ugly color for him.

The day of the dance is here. Classes have been cut to half times and staff members and teachers are encouraging students to attend. I see Qin Shan during 1st class and she reminds me of the time and place to meet later - as it I would forget, right? We are both a little bit nervous - especially because this will be the first time either of us are getting into a public 'relationship.' I can only pray that all goes well.

Wu He and I move to the dorm to get ready. Having both coordinated with our dates to meet at the gazebo, it is only right that we go together. As the time of the dance comes closer and closer, I start to really hope, that the rest of my life and even beyond that, can be coordinated with Qin Shan.
