Cultured Madman

Lin Shen, whom she was praising in her mind a moment ago, was currently on his phone tapping away.

She really felt like taking back her words. She had just praised him, then she found him playing on his phone when class had already started?!

However she was puzzled. What was the source of Lin Shen's actions today? Why is he so engrossed on his phone? He should've heard the bell ring thrice which meant it was time to put away anything not school-related.

A student like Lin Shen would've never made that mistake. And yet, here he was.

"Lin Shen, please put your phone away and come to my office when class is over." She reminded him out of concern.

Lin Shen, whose mind was constantly refreshed by the continuous upgrade from the app, paused at 77 when he heard Miss Zhao's reminder.

He could feel his classmates eyes staring at him. It felt as though he was being mocked by their gazes for forgetting to put his phone away.

He felt guilty, embarrassed, despair even. The effects of the Mental Capacity training only amplified that feeling as he could think clearly, their piercing gaze a clear image in his head.

This was the type of person Lin Shen was. When he was alone, he was a confident genius. Around others, he questioned himself constantly and was suspicious of those who approached him. To put it simply, he had a low self-confidence and self-esteem.

"O-okay." Lin Shen put his phone away and put his poker face on to help distract himself. He had to regulate his breathing in order not to break into tears.

Zhao Lin nodded and started the lessons.

The rest of the lesson was uneventful. The classmates minded their own business and paid attention to Miss Zhao.

During the lessons, Lin Shen could clearly feel the effects of the enhancement from the app. Most classmates took a while to remember the whole contents of the lesson, but he could clearly recite every word for word.

Even Yu Lin who everyone calls a goddess couldn't recite the lesson word for word. She grasped the core of the lesson but she wasn't a newborn monster like Lin Shen.

This made him smile. He had a supernatural advantage that others didn't. Why wouldn't he be happy?

Class ended, it was time for studying. Students sat alone or together, reviewing the day's lesson.

With his head held high, back straight and a poker face, Lin Shen headed towards Miss Zhao's office.

He knocked on the door. "Come in."

As he entered the door, he could see Miss Zhao sitting in her office chair, working on some documents. Sunlight shone on her back, illuminating her presence. Her black hair was let loose, her gracious figure alluring to the eye. Her figure was actually great. It was curvy and elegant, like an angel.

Zhao Lin put down her documents and lifted her towards Lin Shen. "I saw you were distracted today. Is everything alright? Anything happened to you?"

Lin Shen was surprised. Her tone was gentle and not that of a teacher. It was like a mother asking her child if he was okay.

Lin Shen felt touched. Miss Zhao was actually worried about him, even though nothing happened to him. He felt calm around her.

"Nothing really happened Miss Zhao. I guess I needed time to relax after all that studying." Lin Shen replied as he twisted some words. He didn't like studying after all, but that was his image.

Zhao Lin sighed in relief. She had thought something bad had happened to him that made him give up. "I'm relieved. I thought something bad happened to you. It's good to take some time off, your brain deserves it."

"Alright, I won't waste more of your time, you can go now." She knew he wasn't the talkative type, so there was no point keeping him here.

"Thank you." Lin Shen thanked her and left the office. He headed back towards class.

When he returned, everyone was studying. He sat down on his seat and took out all the books related to the exam. He wanted to try out his improved memory. He had stopped at 77 earlier, and plus the previous 22 he had, he was one point away from completing the mission. He didn't want to complete the mission in school, who knew what would happen. He'd rather not risk it, in case some big event happened.

'I'll read one page first and then close the book. This will help me confirm the degree of enhancement I've received from the app.' Lin Shen flipped through the pages to get to the core page that he determined held the most useful information. He started reading the pages quickly.

One minute later, he read the entire page and closed the book.

The results?

'Godly!'

He only took one minute to read through this page. He usually took at least five minutes since he needed to understand the information, but this time it took only one minute to understand the information and he could still vividly remember the text of the page.

'With this upgraded memory, I have room to breath.' Lin Shen smiled happily. No one thought it was strange when they saw him smiling. They just equated it to him understanding the lesson.

'What a cute smile.' Xie Ying caught a glance at Lin Shen and couldn't help but think to herself.

At this point, Lin Shen decided to just rush through the books like a cultured madman. He gently flipped through the pages, glancing at one page only for a minute before moving on. When he finished, he would move on to another book.

While Lin Shen was flipping through the books, his classmates looked at him in ire. The flipping of the book wasn't loud but as it continued, it became more and more annoying. They wanted to just speak up in anger but they were afraid to be mocked at for bullying the quiet kid.

'Man! If you want to study, you can study! But why does it feel you don't want us to study as well?!'

'Hmm?' Lin Shen paused. He could feel someone standing before him.
