Relaxation and Nightmare

It's evening. The sun has set just a while ago. Raphtalia and I have stopped our grinding for today. Level for her, and new Bow Transformation for me. Raphtalia is Level 7 now. She has leveled up so much on the first day because of other monsters I've killed. I've promised to limit Raphtalia's kill to Balloons today, so I've decided to kill those curious and death-seeking monsters myself. They alone were to blame for their death because they attacked us first.

[Pill Rabbit Meat Bow - 0/10 - Common Rarity - Unmastered - 0/100 Proficiency - Stat Bonus: +1 Attack - Equip Bonus: Meat Processing Efficacy Up (Small)]

Only one Transformation has been mastered by maxing up Proficiency and spending it to master the bow. Also, letting the Legendary Bow absorb the same material will raise the bow's proficiency by one point.

Of course, I can raise the Proficiency by equipping it for some while. But, grinding Proficiency this way has a different length of time according to the Rarity of the Bow. The higher the Rarity, the longer I need to wait for a point of Proficiency to be generated.

By the way, I've also spilled blood for the first time in my life. It's Pill Rabbit's blood. It seems like I was strongly affected by killing and shedding its blood for the first time. However, I've hardened my heart because I know that I'll kill even humans and other sentient beings in the future.

When I shed blood for the first time, Raphtalia has seen it and become pale. It seems like she's aware that she'll kill a monster that sheds blood soon. She has been pretty upset, but I've calmed her down.

All that aside, let's focus on our present situation.

Now, we are presently camping next to a small stream. To be precise, I'm helping Raphtalia taking a bath. I've created many things to help her keep hygiene: soap, shampoo, scrubber, and a towel.

Also, I have created each copy of those items and have unlocked the following Transformation:

[Soapy Bow - 0/10 - Common Rarity - Unmastered - 0/100 Proficiency - Stat Bonus: +1 Magic Attack - Equip Bonus: Cleaning Shoot]

[Fragrant Bow - 0/10 - Common Rarity - Unmastered - 0/100 Proficiency - Stat Bonus: +1 Magic Attack - Equip Bonus: Perfume Shoot]

[Towel Bow - 0/10 - Common Rarity - Unmastered - 0/100 Proficiency - Stat Bonus: +1 Magic Defense - Equip Bonus: Drying Shoot]

Cleaning Shoot will clean the target without dealing any damage. It's just one of many alternatives to my Cleaning Spell. Since I already have my Cleaning Spell, that Bow's Equip Bonus seems redundant. Perfume Shoot is a bit useful because it cleans a stinking smell and gives the target a nice fragrance. Drying Shoot has the same significance as Perfume Shoot, though it dries the wet target.

Anyone must think that I waste time with helping Raphtalia taking a bath when I can clean her with my Cleaning Spell or Cleaning Shoot. However, my reason to give Raphtalia a proper bath is the relaxation value of a bath.

After seeing me kill and bleed the first Pill Rabbit that courted death, Raphtalia's mood is an all-time low. She's fretting over her turn in shedding blood despite the target is a monster. It's not like I don't understand her, I've been a bit upset with my first time, but I am fully aware that Raphtalia needs it to match or even surpass her canon counterpart.

"Close your eyes and hold your breath," I instruct Raphtalia who's naked in the river. Since I'm not a Lolicon, a pedophile, or a perverted deviant, I'm not bothered by Raphtalia's nakedness. However, I can imagine the trouble after she's grown up.

"Umm..." Raphtalia nods and follows my instruction.

I wash Raphtalia's body using the water flowing down the stream. After that, I bring her out of the stream and dry her with Drying Shoot. Then, I help her put on a set of yellow Pajama with cute raccoon prints.

"Now, let's prepare dinner," I say.

Raphtalia stops inspecting her Pajama. She has been fascinated by the cute prints on it like a kid she's. She looks up to meet my gaze and asks, "What's the dinner, Mister Ran?"

"A grilled rabbit. I've preserved the meat of Pill Rabbit from before."

"Ah! That's..." she gasps before frowning cutely, seemingly perturbed by something. I don't need a mind-reading ability to know what she's thinking. She's recalling the time I killed those monsters that bleed and feeling nervous.

I pat her head softly and say, "Let's forget about that for now. Just focus on the dinner, okay?"

She slowly nods her head, saying nothing.

Then, I prepare the fire camp. With my overpowered Omnipotence, it's very easy. Normally, I'd try to build everything from a scratch, savoring the novel experience, but I've overestimated my mental endurance. Today's activity has drained my mind, and it reminds me of how tiresome is taking care of a kid.

I have no problem with grilling the meat of Pill Rabbit, thanks to some Equip Bonuses such as Cutting Efficiency Up, Meat Processing Efficiency Up, and Cooking Efficiency Up, and the Simple Cooking Recipes.

"Yummy! This is very good, Mister Ran!" Raphtalia praises the food and my cooking skill.

I smile lightly at that and enjoy my portion. Thanks to some seasonings I've created with Omnipotence, we have tasty meals.

After diner, I help Raphtalia brushing her teeth. I've abused Omnipotence again to create toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Raphtalia seems confused by the custom at first, but she has no problem doing it. More so after I explain about the benefits of keeping our teeth clean and healthy.

While brushing my teeth, I wonder if the strength gained from power-leveling and the magic of this world makes brushing teeth obsolete. Well, I'll figure it out later.

After brushing our teeth, I set the tent and prepare our bedding. I only have one tent and one sleeping bag left because I've sacrificed my other set to the Legendary Bow. After thinking a bit, I use Omnipotence to create a copy of a sleeping bag for Raphtalia. Also, I don't forget to create two soft pillows for us and a raccoon plushy for Raphtalia. I have a hope that the plush will ward off Raphtalia's nightmare tonight.

"Good night, Mister Ran."

"Sleep well, Raphtalia."

We say to each other after entering our respective sleeping bag. We are inside the tent, and it's dark outside. I've created a powerful barrier around the tent to protect us. That action has granted me another new skill called Barrier Creation.

We fall asleep, but I'm woken up in the middle of the night. It seems like Raphtalia's nightmare still haunts her...

Well, it's no rest for the wicked, I suppose. I've bought Raphtalia, and she's now my responsibility.

For the rest of the night, I do my best to calm Raphtalia. However, she keeps having a nightmare and a troubled sleep until I join her in her sleeping bag. Then, I sleep with Raphtalia hugging me desperately.
