Chap. 1

After turning off his car Arthur closed his eyes and listened to the rain pounding on the roof, drowning out the sound of other students walking to school. A knock came on his window and be opened his eyes to see his friend Molly standing in the rain smiling in at him. Her dripping blond hair clung to her face as she mouthed the word "umbrella".

Rolling his eyes Arthur stepped out of his car grabbing his umbrella and bag out of the back seat. The two friends huddled together trying to stay relatively dry. Once inside Molly sighed a breath of relief. She straighter her navy skirt and put her soaked hair into a messy bun.

"Forgot your umbrella again?" Arthur asked, looking around at the tiny room where several umbrellas already hung to dry. He turned to his friend when she didn't answer.

Molly nodded smiling "but I have you so what's the point".

Arthur laughed as he hung his umbrella, and reached to open the door that would lead to the main foyer. Just then a girl came cam rushing in dripping from the ran, slipped, fell into Arthur and ran through the door he was holding open. Laughing Molly walked through the door.

"It's not funny" Aurthur mumbled examining his wet shirt.

"Yes it was!" Molly replied "I mean she came out of nowhere and rammed into you! You should have seen your face," she was laughing so hard she was clutching her stomach.

Arthur rolled his eyes, but even he was smiling. He examined the foyer taking in the familiar veiw. The foyer was the second biggest room in the school, only second to the cafeteria. The rectangular rooms walls stopped about a three fourths of the way up be for it slanted to meet the ceiling. Eight windows, two on each wall, lined the slanted part of the wall that let the bright autum sun into the room. Two long, tan colored pillars stood at the two ends of the foyer. The longer sides of the room were covers with lockers. Students crowded the giant space. Some were sitting on navy benches that were pushed up against the pillars, some were moving along the stairs and hallways the led to and from classrooms, some kids were digging through lockers and some were standing talking to friends they hadn't seen since the previous school year. The only thing they had in common was the navy and white uniforms that the school made them wear.

Arthur followed Molly as they made their way through the groups of people toward her locker. Leaning on the locker next to Molly's Arthur watched her struggle with her lock as always with a smile.

"In this good of a school you would think they figured out the whole lockers situation" Molly groaned failing to open her lock again. Arthur stifled a laugh as she tried again. After a couple more tries it finally popped open. Molly jumped back with surprise.

"Trouble again?" a voice spoke. They both spun to see Kendra, Molly's absolute best friend. Laughing Molly nodded and hugged her friend. "Walk with me to class?" Kendra asked.

Molly looked to Arthur who just nodded in reply. Smiling the two girls walked down the hall talking.

Arthur walkedto the end of the hall to his own locker. As he neared it, he noticed a surprising amount of people around surrounding his locker. Pushing past people who glared at him in return to get to his books, he saw who was a the center of attention. None other then the girl who ran into him earlier. Frowning he unlocked his locker and grabbed a couple books and shoved them into his bag along with some pencils. Someone shoved into him sending head first into the metal of his locker and the door slammed closed hitting him again. Gasping in pain he glared at the girl who was causing it. She had wavy red hair that went past her shoulders, she was just a bit shorter than Arthur, and she had a smile plastered to her face. She then turned to face him and her green eyes met his. Her smile changed and became softer, kinder, and more real. Blinking Arthur turned and shoved more people away to get to class.

Arthur frowned as he thought of that girl. She was nothing but trouble and pain. Just like the rest of them, arrogant because she could afford this school, arrogant because she thought herself prettier then other, arrogant because she thought her self better then others. But the smile he thought coming to a stop, he thought about the change in her face when she saw him. Pushing the thought away he continued up the stairs, she was just playing games like the rest, nothing about her or the others was truly real, just images to get a boy. Arthur wouldn't fall for it. Not again.

-----------

As June watched the boy go she felt a pang of sadness and guilt. It was her first day as a junior here at Barkly Private school and she already ran into someone, making their shirt wet in the process, and due to crowd of people wanting to see the "new hot girl" she had gotten something shoved into a locker, even she heard the bang and twenty pro ppl e were talking to her at the same time. To make it worse it was all the same person. Now that person hated her. It pained her to look into his eyes and see only hate, but there was something else, hurt? Pain? Both? June tried to follow, but was stopped as about five girls crowded around her offering to take her to class. Finally another girl pushes through them and lead her away. She looked at the girl walking with her to see a short blond girl with bling hair that has been pulled up into a messy bun. She was quite beautiful.

"I hope you don't mind" the girl aaked quietly. "I was looking for my friend because I had forgotten to tell him something, but he was gone and instead you were there. You were surrounded by so many people and even though you were smiling I could tell in you wanted out"

"No I don't mind, and thank you"

The girl smiled as she lead her into another hall. "You're the new girl right?"

"Yes I am moved here yesterday, and my parents thought it would best if I can today even though I am super exhausted."

"Well it is the first day of school for all of us so at least you won't miss anything," she reasoned

June nodded as she followed the girl still clinging books some girl had given her earlier saying the rest were in her locker. "Where are we going?"

The girl stopped and spun around to face June. "I am so sorry I forgot to ask you your home room, I was going back to mine" she covered her face with her hands.

"Hey it's okay my home room is 583. Do you know where that is?"

She lifted her face and her blue eyes lit up. "Of course that is my friends home room, I will lead you to him"

June was back to following her as she lead her around, trying to avoid to big of crowds. "Are you allergic to,people or something" June joked as they swerved to avoid people

"No people are just so annoying" she replied laughing.

   "You can say that again!"

"I would but here we are, room 583"

June and the girl laughed together as they reached the door. "By the way I'm June and I like your hair"

"I'm Molly and I like your laugh" We both laughed again as Molly walked away.

"Aren't you going to talk to your friend?"

"No the bell will ring soon and Kendra will want to know where I am"

   "Who?

"Just go to class!" Molly said laughing and rolling eyes.

June entered the class and took the fort available seat. The looked around and saw that the boy she ran into earlier was sitting next to her reading a book and and rubbing his head.

June leaned over and said, "are you okay?"

The boy suddenly turned and confused before he saw her and sighed. "Yeah just don't worry about it" he mumbled. When June continued to stare worried he narrowed his eyes  "I can take care of my self so stop staring!!" he snapped turning back to his book.

"Okay oh princely one I will leave you to your studies," she replied smiling.

The boy grunted in return but June saw try to hide a smile.

"Hello class my name is Mrs. Pally and I will be your home room teacher if you could please get out your books that received over break." the teacher said sitting down at her desk.

June took this moment to look around. All of the walls were tan with a white ceiling and a navy stripe that ran around all four walls. There were two windows on the eastern most wall. The teacher's desk was navy with a white top. The teacher was older with grey streaks in her brown hair which had been put up into a tight bun. She had on a navy dress that reached ankles. It had a belt around the waist. She was wearing thin circular glasses as she scanned her students faces. She slowly had people come up to have desk and mark off their names.

Next to June two boys started talking quietly. She wasn't paying attention but then she heard her name.

"June I think her name is" a boy with light brown hair said

"Hmmm" another one with almost black hair replied nodding. "Wonder why she keeps hanging around those freaks"

" I saw her wandering the halls with that blond haired one. I bet she is just trying to be nice, get on their side."

"Yeah, no way she actually likes them, I mean come on look at that guy, no way he could actually make her like him."

"The ugly freak!" the boy with brown hair said laughing with his friend.

Hearing the exchange, June's blood started to boil. What do they know? He may be rough around the edges, but he is better than them, who think they are entitled to everything.

She looked to the boy next to her and saw that he had heard the whole conversation. He looked annoyed but nothing more. Had this happened before? How often? She turned to the boys sitting next to her. "What did you just say?" She asked sweetly, trying to hide the anger in her voice.

The boy with the black hair scoffed. "We said that the boy sitting next to you is a no good freak, same with his little friend too."

Quickly June stood up, walked over to,him, and looked him straight in the eyes. He smirked at her and opened, his mouth to stay something when June punched him right in the eye.
