What's A High Level Monster Doing Out Here?

It has been a month since Amaya and Emi arrived at the Academy.

Amaya's level had risen from 21 to 26in that short amount of time.

As Tux stood in front of the board he explained the test they all would have to take next week.

"Next week, there will be a test deciding whether you graduate or not. I will be sending you guys off to different areas to handle low ranked quests. You guys will be accompanied by an adventurer. They will not interfere with your quests unless things get out of hand. You will be getting points based on your performance.You must get a score above 65 in order to pass. That is all for today. Remember to study and all that other stuff, class dismissed."

Everyone began to get out of their seats and walk out, including Amaya.

As she walked out into the hallway a voice called out from behind.

"Hey, Amaya!" It was her roommate, Suzuki. She was a girl with long Pink hair and light-blue colored eyes. She put her hand on Amaya's shoulder and continued talking.

"Me and some of the other's are planning on sparring with each other. We already got permission from our instructor. Atsuya will be waiting out in the yard, he's going to monitor us. Wanna come spar with us?"

"Yeah, sounds like a good idea." Amaya replied.

"C'mon let's go. The others should already be waiting in the yard."

She walked off as Amaya followed. As they walked into the yard, Amaya noticed her other roommates waiting there along with some of the other classmates that she had never had a conversation with.

Misaki, Amaya's other roommate, was a girl with violet colored hair that was tied into two buns. She had black colored eyes and stood around five-feet and three inches tall.

Maria, another one of Amaya's roommates, was a girl with long brown hair and black colored eyes. She stood around five-feet and three-inches tall. The other people there were two boys. One with long black hair and turquoise colored eyes. He stood around five-feet four-inches tall. The other boy had yellow spiky hair and had red colored eyes. He stood around five-feet six-inches tall.

"So who's going to spar against who?" Amaya asked.

Suzuki then replied.

"It's going to be me, Misaki, Maria and you against those two boys and two of our other classmates. We'll discuss the rules when everyone's here. You probably don't know their names so I'll tell you. The one with the long black hair is Hiroji.The one with the spiky hair is Ritsuo."

Amaya looked at Ritsuo and his stats came into view.

Amaya began to think to herself.

"He might be a pain to handle. Analyze Skills."

His skills came into view.

(Skills: Limit Break, No other skills)

Amaya focused on the only skill he had and a description came up.

(Limit Break: This skill is controlled by emotions. The greater the emotion, the greater your stats increase. Your stats only increase temporarily but can double up to 5x your current stats. When mastered, you can increase your stats on call.)

"Yup, he's definitely going to be a pain to handle."

A Voice called out from behind them.

"We're here, sorry for the wait."

Amaya turned to see who had spoken. There was a girl with long blue hair and black colored eyes. Standing next to her, was a girl with short black hair who wore a grey pair of glasses ,her eyes were the color green.

"The one with the blue hair is Airi. The one with the glasses is Kazuha. She's a good mage." said Suzuki.

Airi and Kazuha walked over and stood with Ritsuo and Hiroji.

Atsuya then walked over to the group and began explaining the rules.

"Okay, Here are the rules. Suzuki, Misaki, Maria and Amaya will be on the same team. Their opponents will be you guys, Airi, Kazuha, Ritsou and Hiroji. If you lose twenty-five percent of your health then you're out of the match. Life threatening attacks are prohibited. If needed, I will step in and stop the match. You may start when I give the signal."

He then walked a good distance away to give them room for their match. Amaya's team and the other team both stood around twenty-feet apart.

Ritsou, Hiroji and Airi all stood in front of Kazuha. Amaya, Misaki and Suzuki stood in front of Maria.

Atsuya then shouted.

"Start!"

Ritsou ran at Amaya, Hiroji ran at Misaki and Airi ran at Suzuki.

Ritsou Swung his fist at Amaya.

"Dash!" She quickly jumped out the way and swung her leg at him.

He quickly grabbed her ankle then threw her to the ground.

Ritsou jumped up into the air.

"Take this!"

He swung his fist down at Amaya as she quickly rolled out of the way.

"He's not too slow." She thought to herself.

Misaki grabbed Hiroji's arm and threw him over her shoulder. She was about to swing her fist when a voice shouted.

"Speed enhancement!"

The shout had come from Kazuha. Hiroji was now covered in a blue light. He quickly jumped to his feet and rapidly swung his fists at Misaki. She tried to dodge but was struck in the stomach

She kneeled down trying to catch her breath as she thought to herself.

"Crap….she can enhance their speed? That caught me off guard.Well, I guess I'm out of the match" She then stood up and walked over to Atsuya.

Airi was throwing a mix of punches and kicks as Suzuki was dodging them.

"Quick attack." She swung her fist.

Kazuha then called out a spell.

"Earth wall!"

A wall of rocks came out of the ground, separating Airi and Suzuki.

"Pressure water!" a violent blast of bright-blue water shattered the rock wall and hit Airi as she was knocked to the ground.

She laid still for a couple seconds then thought to herself.

"I guess...I'm out."

Suzuki began charging towards Kazuha.

She held out her hand and shouted.

"Earth prison!" Rocks came out of the ground and formed around Suzuki in a sphere shape. Hiroji ran towards the rocks as Kazuha shouted.

"Disassemble!" The moment the sphere fell apart. Hiroji swung his fist, striking Suzuki.

"You're out!"

Suzuki kneeled down and caught her breathe. A voice called out.

"Earth prison!"

Hiroji was suddenly covered in rocks that gathered together in a sphere shape.

The shout did not come from Kazuha.

Suzuki turned her head and saw that the shout had come from Maria.

"She's a little too late." Suzuki thought to herself.

She then went over to the rest who were out.

Atsuya began thinking to himself.

"They've shown some interesting strategies. Normally, I would say they're all doing good but their teamwork is all over the place."

Maria held out her hand.

"Pressure water!"

A violent blast of water hit the gathered rocks and shattered them. The force of the blast sent Hiroji flying backwards.

He landed on his back as he thought to himself in pain.

"Agghh. Is that even allowed? It feels like that was a life threatening attack."

He then slowly stood up.

"I guess, that means I'm out."

"Maria's magic power is kinda scary." Kazuha thought to herself.

Maria stared at Kazuha, in thought.

"I'm going to launch a pressure water blast at her. She's going to defend using an earth wall. I'll just increase my blasts power and break through."

She then held out her hand and shouted.

"Pressure water!" A violent blast of water shot towards Kazuha.

"Earth wall!"

A wall of rocks appeared in front of her as they both thought to themselves.

"Will this be enough to shatter the wall?"

"Will it stop the blast?"

The violent blast of the water hit the rock wall….

...It did not shatter.

"Yes! I stopped it, but….I'm all out mana now." Kazuha thought to herself.

Maria smiled as if she had no worries.

"I don't have to worry about fully running out of mana because of my mana regeneration skill. I'll just launch another blast."

She held out her hand and shouted once more.

"Pressure water !" A Violent spinning blast of water shot at the wall and shattered it.

The water then struck Kazuha, knocking her to the floor.

"Owww…..well, I guess I'm out." Kazuha thought to herself.

She slowly stood up and began walking towards the rest who were out.

Amaya an Ritsou were both tired out. They stood a good distance apart, catching their breath.

They haven't managed to hit each other even once.

Ritsou spit on the floor as he was clearly angered.

"This is starting to piss me off,"

[Enemy has activated 'Limit Break']

"Same for me." Amaya replied.

['Rage has activated]

Atsuya was shocked as he thought to himself.

"What is this? Amaya's aura is changing colors. This might be a bad sign. I need to stop this."

Ritsou moved and was now behind Amaya.

"This is where you lose!"

He reached out to grab her.

"Dash!" She quickly moved to the side.

"I had a feeling you would show up behind me."

"Earth prison!" Maria shouted.

Rocks formed around Ritsou in a sphere shape then covered him.

"I got him!"

Suddenly, the rocks shattered and Ritsou was holding his fist in the air.

He glared at Maria

"Stay out of this, mage."

Amaya and Ritsou both began to run at each other full speed. They both swung their fists which were now inches away.

Suddenly, Atsuya was gone. A violent burst of wind shook everyone's clothes as he now stood in the middle of them, holding their wrists.

"This match... is over." He intimidatingly said

Everyone was shocked. It was the fastest speed they have ever seen.

"What was that speed?!" Amaya thought to herself.

['Rage' has deactivated] [Enemy's skill 'Limit Break' has deactivated]

Atsuya then released their wrists.

"You all may go to your rooms now. Sparring time is over."

She then thought to herself as she rubbed her wrist.

"That strength was something else. He was faster and stronger than anyone I had met in this world so far. Can I ever get to that level of strength?"

Atsuya turned around and walked off.

Night had arrived...Amaya and her roommates were all sitting in their room.

"I'm bored, what should we talk about?" Suzuki asked.

"I don't know. How about we talk about crazy experiences we had. Maria, you go first." Misaki suggested.

"What!? Why do I have to go first?" Maria asked.

Suzuki smiled.

"C'mon, don't be like thaat."

Maria let out a sigh.

"Fine, I'll go first…. One time when I was smaller, I snuck out of my house. Me and a couple of my friends wandered to the forest for a bit. That's when we saw it. An orc had a man tied up. Two more orcs showed up and they started ripping the man's arms off. My friends and I screamed then ran off. It's pretty short but it was scary."

"What? Why didn't you tell anyone?" Misaki asked.

"At the time we were too scared to say anything. After we screamed, the orc actually caught us. They said they were too tired so they let us go. They said that if we told anyone, us and our family's would be killed." said Maria.

"Orc's actually let them go?" Amaya thought to herself.

Suzuki looked at Misaki.

"Okay, it's your turn."

Misaki began talking.

"One time when I was eleven, I went with my father to town.

We were crossing the forest when a high level shadow bear showed up. He ended up fighting it. In the end, my father won but was really injured."

"He actually fought a high level shadow bear!? You have to be at least around an A-rank to do that." said Maria.

Suzuki leaned back in her chair.

"I guess It's my turn. One time, I walked to a town to buy some food for my house because I was out. A group of monsters came out of the nearby forest. Luckly, Golden Brawler, one of the few legendary-rank adventurers, was there. He easily beat those monsters."

Suzuki then turned to look at Amaya.

"Now it's your turn, Amaya."

Amaya yawned and her eyes watered up.

"I'm getting pretty tired too." said Misaki.

"Yeah, we should probably get some sleep." Suzuki replied.

"Yup, it's been a long day." said Maria.

Next Morning….Amaya's class stood outside in the yard as they're teacher told them about their task.

"Okay, class. Today you will be seperating into groups. Once I tell you your group, you may go off to the forest. Your task is to defeat at least one monster. Each monster yourgroup defeats will be used as extra credit for next week's test. Each monster counts as two points. Okay, Airi, Suzuki, Kazuha, Misaki and Amaya. You will be in the same group for this task, you may leave now."

Amaya's team gathered and walked out as the gate opened. They then walked into the forest.

"I'm gonna be honest, I'm scared of being in forests." said Kazuha.

Suzuki let out a sigh.

"Everythings going to be okay, we are going to be fine. Did you forget that we are in the above average class? Also, Amaya's here. She was able to rival Ritsou even though he has one of the strongest and rarest skills."

As they talked, they wondered deeper and deeper into the forest.

Airi looked at Amaya.

"Exactly what skill helped you keep up with Ritsou during our match?"

Amaya then thought to herself.

"I probably shouldn't tell her about my rage skill, she might think I'm crazy or something."

She then answered her question.

"It was because I had lots of practice in martial arts."

"There's no way that's true. It had to be a skill. Why else would Atsuya have stopped the match?"

Suddenly, they all stopped as the sound of footsteps came from behind the trees.

"What's the noise coming from?" Suzuki asked.

They all turned to face the trees where the footsteps were coming from.

Multiple black colored humanoid creatures stepped out from behind the trees. They had long sharp claws and were tall. There were eight of the shadow creatures in total.

"Kazuha, you're the mage, so stay behind us." said Airi.

The shadows stats came into Amaya's view.

(Shadow: Level: 24 Hp: 567 mp: 0 Armor: 0 Atk: 132 Speed:199

Endurance: 87)

"These shadow creature's are different from the ones I fought before. These ones are faster" Amaya thought to herself.

The shadows began walking towards them. Suddenly, one of the shadows ran at Airi. It dashed and swung it's claws at her.

Just as it's claw was about to strike her face….

"Dash!".....Amaya stood in front of her and caught the shadow's hand.

Airi was shocked and a sweat ran down her cheek.

Amaya swung her fist into the shadow's face.

[Exp gained]

It then disappeared into a black cloud of dust.

"I know this might be a bit selfish but, do you guys mind if I handle this?"

Amaya asked.

"A-are you crazy?! There's too many. Also, we came into the forest to find monsters in the first place." said Misaki.

Amaya then thought to herself.

"Those creatures' speed is too fast for them to handle. Even Airi had trouble seeing their attacks."

Suddenly, the shadows stepped to the side as if something Important was about to walk through. Everyone's eyes widened and the atmosphere darkened. A tall humanoid creature walked out from behind the trees, followed by five more shadows. The shadow stood around eleven-feet tall. It had claws that were around six-inches long. Amaya looked at the shadow and it's stats came into view.

(Shadow leader: Level: 111 Hp:12,000 Mp: 897 Armor:5,872 Atk:576 Speed:227 Endurance: 216)

Amaya then thought to herself.

"That thing's speed is faster than mine and it's attack power is dangerous,If it landed a clean hit on any one of us we would be dead.

If I wanna keep up with it then I'll have to enhance my speed, just like Kazuha did to Hiroji during our match. Okay, just imagine my body flowing with speed. If I want to match his speed I'll need to use around one-hundred-thirty mana but I need to be faster."

"A-Amaya, That things no good!!" Suzuki shouted.

Everyone was clearly in a state of fear. Kazuha began walking backwards slowly.

"W-We can't fight that thing….let's all just run."

The shadow suddenly ran at amazing speed and was seconds away from slashing Kazuha.

Amaya moved and stood in front of her.

"Penetrate!" She swung her fist at the shadow's hand.

(Shadow leader: Hp:11,768/12,000)

"I knew it, my team can't keep up with this speed." Amaya thought to herself.

She then spoke out loud.

"Run, get out of here and call Atsuya.

Suzuki, Airi, Misaki and Kazuha began running back towards the mansion.

The creature took a long jump backwards, landing behind the other shadows. Amaya glared at them as they all began running at her.

"Flame!"

She held out her hand as a bright hot flame shot out at the monsters.

The flame had hit three of the creatures in front but did not kill them.

"They survived?!"

One of the shadows slashed at her. She quickly ducked and slammed her fist into it's chest.

[Xp gained] The two other shadows swung their claws at her.

"Dash!" Amaya then jumped towards them and slammed her foot into one of their faces.

[Xp gained]

One of had cut Amaya's arm.

(Amaya: Hp: 568/694)

Amaya gripped the shadows arms and threw it to the ground.

"You pissed me off!" She lifted her foot, then stomped down on its face.

['Rage' has activated] [You have leveled up]

Amaya's team had made it back to the gate of the mansion.

"Atsuya!" Airi shouted.

"What's wrong?" Atsuya asked.

"There's a monster! A strong one. Amaya's fighting it right now. "

The look on his face darkened as if he was ready for a fierce battle.

"Lead me to it."

[You have leveled up]

"Three more to go." Amaya thought to herself.

She then charged at them.

"Take This!" She slammed her knee into one of their chests.

The three shadows surrounded her and swung their claws at her.

"Dash!" jumped out of the way.

Amaya noticed her vision was darkening.

"I'm….blacking out…"

Her eyes turned fully white and and her skin turned dark as if she was a shadow. She ran at the creatures and began attacking.

She slammed her palm into one of their faces as she quickly spun around and swung a kick, hitting another in the neck.

[Xp gained] [You have leveled up]

The last standing shadow ran at her and rapidly slashed at her as she moved side to side, dodging each attack.

Amaya caught it's hand then roughly pushed her fist into its face.

[Xp gained]

All the shadows were defeated. The only one left was the shadow leader. She ran at it and swung her fist…..the creature quickly caught her arm and slammed her on the ground. Amaya quickly jumped back to her feet as the creature swung it's arm at her.

['Dash' has been activated] She quickly moved to the side and struck it's knee

The creature hit Amaya as the impact sent her rolling across the ground.

She slowly stood up as the creature got closer and closer. Amaya's eyes and skin went back to normal.

['Rage' has deactivated] Amaya looked up at the creature.

It slowly raised its arm then swung it down at Amaya.

A violent burst of wind shook the air. A man in a suit stood in front of her, holding the creature's claw.

It was Atsuya. He then jumped up and slammed his fist into the creature's chest.

The creature then turned into a black cloud of dust.

"Are you alright?" Atsuya asked.

"Yeah, I guess I am."

Atsuya then thought to himself.

"She was able to survive until I got here. She must be pretty powerful herself."

Amaya looked at Atsuya and his stats came into view.

(Level: 489 Hp: 789,687 Armor: 0 Atk: 105,437 Mp: 45,894 Speed: 447 Endurance: 423)

"His stats are higher than I imagined. He could've easily beaten that dungeon boss that me and Katsu fought." Amaya thought to herself.

Suzuki, Misaki and Kazuha all ran up to Amaya.

"Are you okay?!!"

Amaya let out a sigh.

"I'm alright."

Atsuya then thought to himself.

"What was a high level monster like this doing out here?"

He then turned to Amaya and her group.

"Your task is over for the day. You may head back."

"Y-Yes sir." said Kazuha. They all began walking towards the mansion.

"That giant monster had crazy health." said Suzuki.

"That thing was easily on the level of an s-rank adventurer." Airi stated.

Amaya began thinking to herself.

"I was close to death again. I got way stronger than I was before but I still ended up needing someone to save me. I don't see myself anytime soon being able to beat a monster like that. One thing is for sure, I will get stronger."
