Chapter 34 - Dungeon of Nightmare

"What happened?" Xinyi asked, "We can't enter?!" She said loudly.

"Hm, I think this is the condition of the dungeon." Isla said, "Someone in the meridian opening can't enter? This must be it."

"No, no, no, no what would happen to them now? Would the disciples be fine?" Xinyi started panicking.

Seeing how her sister was panicking Isla tried consoling Xinyi, "Calm down, Xinyi. They aren't weak, that disciple we talked with earlier was already in the 4th minor realm. Besides, you also have someone from the 5th minor realm don't you?"

"I...I think you're right. Y-Yeah. Sorry for it." Xinyi controlled herself.

Seeing that, Isla said, "I also care for them but have faith them. Now we should move and find a way to get Inside as well."

With saying that, they moved like a wind without leaving any noise behind.

"If we can't enter it, that must mean the cultivator was stronger than us" Xinyi stated, "Spatical techniques are high ranking techniques and if that dungeon is made by someone that can control it....Things may go down if the situation is not under control. He may well over be in the next major realm."

Swoosh

They flew in the air after sprinting for several Km after reaching the forest. There was no Qi coming outside their body like the people who fought in the Haunted city. They could also move with tremendous speed.

The witch controls the state of "Gwayong", and they were still in it yet, well obviously.

"In short, we have to look for a weak side of the dungeon to get inside without much difficulties."

...

"Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit!"

"Where are our masters?! We can't possibly defeat those monster on our own!!"

Inside the dungeon things were already taking a bad turn for the disciples. After realizing that they're masters were not with them, they decided to just get the rewards and complete this dungeon. But they were attacked by many monsters while exploring the area.

Meanwhile Alden, Luan, Angela, Eloise and Alden's followers were on one side of the dungeon.

"This is getting nowhere." Luan said and thought, 'We've been fighting for over half an hour now but the monsters keep appearing out of nowhere."

They were still in the cave and there were numerous smaller caves that were connecting with the bigger cave.

'These monsters are easy to handle, but their amount is the main problem.' Luan thought while he pieced his scythe in the orc's head.

Not far from them, Alden was also fighting monsters with his friends. No, more like he was getting carried by them.

"Don't worry Lord. Nobody could touch you when we are here!" Luo Xiaobo said while killing a monster with some effort. One of the two new guys from before. He was the one with the hair tied in a ponytail.

"Shut up and kill the monsters!! You good for nothing!!" The person with the lowest temper said. He was Ding Yunru.

"We shouldn't fight among ourselves guys!" Alden said.

'This is bad! Where is Eloise?!" He thought and looked around.

She was fighting a monster with her bow and it was somewhat effective. The arrows were going in the his eyes and other focal points which made the weird creature unable to move and eventually die.

"It's good that she's holding on with others. "

Luan was looking for a way to get away from this mess when he saw a cave with no monsters coming out.

It was a medium sized cave.

'System tell me. This is a trap, isn't it?' He thought.

Ding

「It indeed looks like a trap or either a blessing in disguise.」

Luan thought for some time before coming to the conclusion.

When Alden's team and Luan's team was killing the monsters easily, the others were finding it a little hard. And it would be harder for everyone if by chance stronger monsters come.

Luan took a deep breath and used Qi in his throat to speak louder, "Everyone get inside that cave!" He shouted and went to the smaller cave with Angela.

Most of them listened to what he said and starting going to the cave. Others didn't trust him and they stayed behind. Alden's team followed him as well.

'It is better for us to fight monsters from one side instead of every. Going inside the cave will give the monsters few variety of attacks to use and we can concentrate on all of our attacks in a single direction.' Luan thought.

When most of the people came inside the cave, they realized what he was planning and quickly went to work.

"Those who are injured or low on Qi will stay in the back and those who can still fight will be at the front line.'' He said in a calm tone.

"Alden can you still fight?' He asked.

"Yeah. I think I can."

"What about you guys?" Luan asked others.

"We can still fight!." Luo Xiaobo said and Ding Yunru agreed.

"What about you?" He asked the other guy who was silent the whole time.

"I can fight as well." He the last guy who besides Luo Xiaobo, the one who is always silent "Pan Cheng". His long hair were all messed up and were covering most of his face except eyes and one couldn't see his face clearly.

"Good." Luan said and gave his orders to the rest of them according to their cultivation and Qi remaining. The idea of going inside the cave was Luan's idea. But the one who was managing and finding the perfect task for the disciples was the system.

The system was more of a passive one. It didn't give luan any quests for strength but it was there to advice him. It was his "Advisor".

After the tasks were decided, Luan smirked, 'Now to do the work.'

He stomped outside the cave with Angela and he jumped on the monster who was 20 meter tall and punched him in the face.

Thud!

The monster fell at least 5 meter away form it's initial position but it's head wasn't on the front of his body but at the back. His head twisted from the power of that punch.

Another unknown creature ran at them to attack but Angela sliced his right leg and he fell on the ground and then finished him off.

Another monster barged at them but luan threw his scythe like a boomerang and it sliced the monster's chest and went inside it's body.

"Krek!" It cried out in pain.

Luan was quiet the whole time, but you could see the bloodlust in his eyes as if he's possessed by something. And occasional psychopathic laughs.

Angela on the other hand, was holding back and using only those attacks which would kill them on the spot without much pain.

Luan couldn't use his special attacks because that would expose him but just after another 30 mins, the monsters' hoard was beginning to slow down. Many bodies were fallen on the ground to the point one couldn't see the floor clearly.

The two were also starting to get tired, so they decided to go back to the safety spot.

Luan looked at everyone. The situation here was calmer and the strategy was working.

"We'll rest for a while and go there again." He said.

As the monsters were limited, the front line had a lot less work to do so everyone breathe a sigh of relief.

Alden gulped from seeing his bloodlust with his own eyes and his other companions did as well.

"What is it, Alden?" Luan asked him calmly.

"Well. Don't get angry at me, but are you mentally... ill?" He asked with hesitation.

"Ha, why do you think so?"

"You were killing them without hesitation and making their death tragic. Don't you feel sorry for them?"

Luan frowned his eyes, "Isn't it natural for a cultivator to kill somebody? If anything it would come naturally to them." He started.

Alden was taken a back by him and it took him a while to say something.

"Naturally, ha?" Alden spoke, "Maybe, who knows." He looked up and after a few breaths said, "...You know, my mother used to tell me to be a good person. To be a great friend. So maybe I don't know the true essence of a cultivator... Maybe that's why I'm not strong. That's why I can't protect anyone."

Luan looked up as well and asked, "Is it not freedom to kill people? I just wanted to do what I want."

Luan's pov

Every since I came to this world, I thought the world of cultivation was brutal. Which is right. But how did I change my mindset after a few days just like that?

Even when I killed those humans, I didn't feel anything. At least the first two because the 20 people that came after that were just doing their jobs. Maybe they had their families to feed. Maybe some of them promised to enjoy a dinner with their kids when they get home.

Even if they had volunteered to attack me they weren't ready for that. Maybe they had killed me without hesitation if I had spared them.

Was I always like this? I don't know what's right and what's not.

Did modern society's law and order really put restraints on me? What would have happened if I was born in the cultivation world? Would killing be normal or not? Is this because this is a lower cultivation world that people have this mindset?

Was I always like this or the psychopath inside of me came out after killing living beings?

Normal pov

'I need to sort my emotions...' After a while of thinking luan thought.

Alden was observing him and he was thinking about luan as well.

'So he was confused as well.' He thought, 'Ever since my confidence was broken down by him the first time we met, I don't know what happened to me. But I was just... scared of him.'

'He looked like a frightening guy with fake emotions, his front side is different and his original personality is different, is what I thought. But I think I understand him better now. It's not that he's putting up a show, but he's still finding himself within.' Alden thought, 'Come to think of it, he's still 10 years old. He doesn't act like that but it's as if his mentality is constantly changing everyday..'

"Luan, what is it that you want to accomplish?" Alden asked.

Luan who was biting his nails thought for a few seconds, "I'll become the stron...I want revenge for my family." He said.

"I see. Well I haven't told this to anyone yet." He shyd, "I want to cure my sister." Alden said, "Let's try to achieve our dream, ok?" He moved his hand in a fist bump.

Luan did the same and when they were about to bump each other's fist...

CRASCHH!

"What the-!"

A crack in the ground opened and swallowed everyone in its everlasting darkness as if in an endless abyss.
