You Left Your Mark

Erin stalked through the house searching for the next victims, and possibly the hostage.


She reached a flight of stairs that lead to a basement.


[This I like in a horror movie when people go to the darkest place and expect to not die... so stupid but I'm doing it anyway.]


She put her ear close to the door to hear if anyone was inside.


"Don't worry it'll be over soon pretty lady.."


She heard a rough deep voice coming from inside and shuffling of a chair.


She took two steps back and prepared to kick down the door. Then she heard a scream..


It was a feminine voice screaming. Erin kicked the door witch force from her right leg.


[Sorry big guy but you're in the way...]


She pointed her gun at the man who was currently frozen in place with a knife in his hand that was dripping with blood. 


His shocked expression showed he was not expecting any guests. 


"Mmm mhwmm!!" The was a woman tied to a chair gagged and with multiple cuts all over her body. Her clothes soaked in the blood. 


Her red hair messy and tears in her green eyes. She looked like she'd be here for a while.


[No.... it can't be.... why.... why now.]


Erin's hands started slightly shaking, tears welling up in her eyes.


"J- Jess?" Erin finally said after just staring at the redhead  who was recently tortured.


The man to Erin's left tried to take an opportunity by swinging his arm with a knife in it at her.


The knife sliced her arm and she hissed in pain. 


Her eyes turned dark. She grabbed his arm and twisted his wrist, making him scream in pain. 


"That was uncalled for." She shot him three time in the chest and he dropped to the floor.


She checked if he was dead and turned to Jess. 


Her heart was beating rapidly against her ribs.   After 4 years of searching, the woman she was looking for is finally right in front of her.


"Mmwhm?" Jess tried to speak but her words didn't come out right due to the gag.


Erin tried to control her emotions that were a mess. 


She felt a mix of anger, sadness and shock.


[No... I can't.... I have to keep calm and remember the reason for this..]


She took out her gag and checked her gun.  Erin pointed it at Jess's head.


"Oh I see you're alive there Rin.." Jess's voice was sarcastic.


"Answer me truthfully and you won't get hurt... Why did you try to kill me Red?" 


Her voice was devoid of any emotion. Only her head was going a thousand miles per second.


Jess stayed silent for a while and finally said... "I couldn't have loose ends... sorry Rin, I had to." 


".. I was a loose end to you?... After all we'd been through together all I am is a loose end.." Erin's voice was trembling.


"It was required for me to get close to you, to get to my target... Your father, Erick Shaw." 


"Yes, he posed a threat to our organisation... 'K' needed him dead... It was a long term mission... surveillance and report until I had what I needed, then kill anyone who gets in the way...  that included you... but you survived?"


Jess was shocked to see Erin alive. After a stab wound and a bullet in her chest.


What Jess didn't know I that Erin called 911 after she left and only survived by having a reason to live again.


That reason was to find the person who tried to kill her. 


Jess Van Triess her former lover, and get answers on why.


"Yes I survived... I came to kill you." That was a lie..


"*hehe* You?... kill me... you were always a bad liar Rin, tell me why you really looked for me." Jess caught Erin out on her lie.


Just as she was about to answer, Erin heard explosions upstairs...
