The Noble

The following morning, Don got up from the bed and headed to the dining room where he found Rit eating breakfast.

"Good morning sir."

"Good morning Don. Did you sleep well?"

"Yes sir. I did."

"Well, that's good then lad. By the way lad. Sit down and have some breakfast. After, I will explain to you what your job will be."

"Yes sir."

Don sits down and eats the loaf of bread on the plate and the vegetable soup. After finishing the meal, Don directs his attention to Rit at the other side of the table.

"Your job here Don will be as my attendant and guard. Lately, Sam has been worrying about me hunting and going off by myself. So he wanted me to at least take in an attendant. And since you've proven yourself to be proficient with the bow during our 3 day journey. I would like you to take that role. So what do you say?"

"I accept the position sir."

"Good! By the way, let me fully introduce myself fully. I am Rit Von Darrion. I am a landed knight and lord of this humble town of Arid. You can freely call me Rit since I don't care for much of the noble title. Although Sam would say otherwise. Now go look for Sam and he shall train you for your duties."

"Yes, sir Rit."

Don then goes to find Sam inside the Lord Rit's office looking through documents.

"Hello there Don. Let me properly introduce myself as well. My name is Sam. I am the the steward and caretaker of the Darrion family. As a soon to be retainer of the Darrion household I would like to congratulate you on the job. I had been the Lords only retainer and have had this job since I came of age at 15. By the way me and the master are the same age. And you could say him and I were childhood friends. But enough of that. Welcome my junior. Our first order of business is learning on how to become a caretaker and stewardship skills in case something happens to me. Then you will learn swordsmanship and other military matters."

Don's life passed on like that for 5 years. He would go out to hunt with the Lord Rit and got to learn hunting and survival skills. While at home, he would be taught on how to be a caretaker, steward, and guardsman of the lord.

As the years passed by he got to be very familiar with the Darrion household and the town of Arid.

He noticed things like like the diligent Sam who would constantly work and take care of issues for the household and the town of Arid without any complaint. About his lord Rit who was constantly disregarding his duties and would instead prefer to hunt, preferring to be content with his life. He got to learn of the people of Arid. Of Gar the blacksmith and his son Jag. Of the innkeeper Jan and her family. And of the common folk and those he was sent out to trade with. These 5 years, Don worked hard and had a lot of time to define himself as a person since he's lost his memories.

Other than that he got to learn of his surroundings and the kingdom in which Rit served which was the Kingdom of Sardinia. The continent in which he was in was called Leiland. A land with hundreds of kingdoms vying for power. To the north was the United City States of the Lowlands. The south had Sardinia's rival country of the kingdom of Radia. To the East lies the Rhun Ocean. To the west is the mercenary country of Zervas. Not much is known of the other countries beyond these 3 that border Sardinia. Don really loved knowing about the world and of war. He hoped one day he would be able to travel and experience an adventure of this world.
