The Time has come

With all the activities I did, time came and went in a flash, the day came when I found myself reading the Hogwarts admissions letter. I heaved a sigh of relief and said "finally!"

"Haha, well then Jake shall we make our way to Diagon Alley then?" I gave my dad an eager nod when mom suddenly enraptured me in a hug "my baby's all grown up!" I unsuccessfully tried to worm my way out of her arms and complained "mom I'm not a kid anymore." Dad gave a laugh and retorted "of course you're still a kid, you're only 11 years old." Hearing my dad say that I grunted in annoyance.

As I sat on my sofa, Apollo rested his head on my knees. In the past 7 years, he has grown to the size of a Labrador, I honestly don't know if I'm going to manage to bring him with me to Hogwarts, maybe we can enchant a collar to make him look smaller, like a cat with wings.

A few minutes we made our way to Diagon Alley via the floo system. "Alright, first stop is Flourish and Blotts to get your books" says dad as we walk towards the bookstore. Once inside, I the one person I have been eager to meet for the past 7 years: Cedric Diggory. "Hey, you starting at Hogwarts this year too?" I asked Cedric. He turned away from the books to look at me and replied "yea, can't wait to finally start."

"Same here. Jake King" I said as I gave him a handshake. "Cedric Diggory, nice to meet you Jake." He says with a smile. "Likewise." Unfortunately there was no time for conversation because Amos Diggory promptly made his way to Cedric and said "Come on Cedric I have urgent business to attend to at the ministry." Right before he looked at me and my father and stopped abruptly. "My apologies Mr. King but we really must be going now." Dad simply nodded and smiled. Before leaving though, Cedric turned to me and said "see you on the train Jake."

Once we got everything I need, we went to get the thing I most anticipated: my wand. A few seconds after arriving at the front desk, Ollivander showed himself in his usual creepy way. "Ah, Mr. King, Black Walnut, Phoenix feather core, 10 inches."

"Right as always Ollivander. This is my son Jake, he will be attending Hogwarts this year." Understanding immediately, Ollivander picked a random wand and gave it to me. Knowing the routine, I flicked the wand, causing paper to fly all over the place.

"I think not" said Ollivander as he took the wand and replaced it with another. After about a dozen tries, Ollivander looked at a particular wand, "ah, perhaps... Cherry wood, dragon heartstring core, 9 inches."

I swung the wand and felt a huge amount of power flow through me. This is the wand that will along side me. "A cherry wood and dragon heartstring core wand must never be held by a wizard lacking in self control and strength of mind Mr. King, for the power of such a wand is immense." Ollivander gave me a warning look. "Thanks for the warning Mr. Ollivander, I will keep it in mind."

Back at home, Lana sprinted towards me and shouted, "show me your wand Jake. I want to see your wand!" I can never say no to my sweet baby sister. As I show her my wand, mom asks what wood and core my wand is made of. Before I can even answer, dad proudly butts in, "cherry wood and dragon heartstring. It is a truly powerful combination, not something your average wizard can own."

Mom turns to me and worriedly says "be careful Jake, powerful wands like yours are not easy to master." I smirk in reply and say, "who do you think you're talking to mom?" We are all eventually distracted by an excited squeak from my little sister, "it's so pretty!"

A month later on September 1st, I stand before the Hogwarts express with my family. Asking for a loving family was the best thing I could have asked for, what is the point of growing powerful and achieving many things with no one to share it with?

Once I'm done saying goodbye to dad, mom immediately hugs and seems to refuse to let go. "Mom I promise I will write to you ad much as I can but you have to let go or I'll lose the train" I say with a laugh. "Fine, I'll miss you." I smile and say "me too mom, me too."

"Don't do anything I wouldn't do kid." I turn to the voice I know to be my uncle Marcus'. I give him a sly grin and remark "didn't you mean don't do anything you would do?" As I run to the train with my luggage and Apollo on my shoulder, I hear my uncle's annoyed voice "is that how you talk to your uncle you little rascal?"

Once on the train, I look for a compartment to sit in when suddenly, I see a compartment with a lone Cedric. "Hey Cedric, mind if I sit with you?"

"Hey Jake, be my guest." After I put all my stuff away and sit down with Apollo on my lap (we put an enchanted collar to reduce his size) a girl with flowing blonde hair and sea blue eyes along with a similarly beautiful brunette open our compartment door.

"Sorry to bother you two, but could we sit with you?" For a moment, Cedric and I are stunned. "Sure, make yourselves comfortable" I manage to stammer out. "Thank you." When we were all settled in, Cedric and I introduced ourselves.

"Nice to meet you Jake, Cedric, my name is Ava Walker, this here is my best friend Sophie Baker." They were never mentioned in the Harry Potter books or movies. I have a sneaking suspicion the old man had something to do with this.
