Nakanishi Aki, the center of the HBI's team, used to live in Shimoda, the city near the sea. He was born to a slut mom and a drunkard dad so as the oldest, he was the only one to take care of his three siblings. At eight years old, he dropped school to get a job and take care of his family so he couldn't get an education either. He wanted to take up sports, so he could provide for the family but he couldn't leave for that long, so he just played basketball recreationally despite his talent for the sport. One day, he was playing on the street when a big car came. They said that they wanted to recruit him for the HBI and that as long as he played for them, he would have a paid-for house and necessities big enough for his family. He accepted. "All I have to do is have fun playing the sport I love," he thought.
As he started playing in the HBI, they discovered his immense jumping power. They tried to put him as a power forward but it didn't work. He didn't have enough stamina to sustain the position so they put him as a center who specialized in defense. In training, the HBI couldn't even try to score because he towered above them and smacked the ball out of their hands. He hadn't been in the HBI for long before Higashi Kiyoshi showed up. When he did, they formed a combo. That way, Kiyoshi could just pass the ball and he would layup or dunk or just shoot. His stamina problem was resolved. Not long after, he became a starter for HBI.
He and Kiyoshi became a hidden duo that was only used when they were in pinches, but he remained a starter. Afterward, he trained his legs some more and started entering competitions to win money. He then became known as the jumping demon, Nakanishi Aki.
