Completion of the Orphanage

The next day, bright and early in the morning, we got back to fixing the orphanage. With our newly 'aquired' tools and supplies, fixing the orphanage will be easier than yesterday.

Now then... I moved over to the right side of the orphanage, and looked at a flat plot of land. I can't always go 'retreive' food from the grocery stores, and so we have to make our own.

I waved my hand, and plows and seeds of different varieties appeared on the ground. They were conveniently taken from the department stores, mainly the retailer ones.

Tomato seeds, potato seeds, apple seeds, orange seeds, watermelon seeds-basically a huge variety of seeds.

However, in order for the seeds to grow, we need water, and currently, we don't have a well or something nearby.

Water is necessary for living things, plants and creatures alike. Except for the dolls. They aren't really living anymore, but they can still 'feel' refresh drinking a nice cup of cool water.

If we need water...there should be a natural underground spring below the orphanage, since there is no real body of water nearby.

We can dig at least 30 to 50 feet to get the best water possible, otherwise it'll become diluted by minerals.

Why would the creators make a large building here, just to deliver water from miles away?

...I'll get to work on that in a bit, but until then...

The farm.

Most of the other children will keep fixing the orphanage, the others would help me make the farm. After we plant the seeds and farm, we'll move on to the greenhouse to plant the fruit seeds.

So I gathered around several hundred children to help with the farm. Assuming I'll need to provide food to thousands of children...a lot of labor and seeds are needed.

It is a great thing I have both.

I give thanks to the retail department stores. If they never existed, then obtaining seeds will be much more difficult.

As we grouped up on the field of grass, I gathered the

"Mister, why don't we farm both fruits and vegetables on the farm?"

"Well you see, some fruits have some requirements in order to grow, and so naturally most fruits are not able to well in this environent. Vegetables are the same, as some won't grow efficiently next to each other. For example, growing tomatoes and potatoes together will drop it's nutritional value."

I'm not sure if they understood what I just said, but it didn't matter as the children all let out sounds of admiration.

"Woowww!"

The children all looked at me with starry eyes, their eyes glowing with curiosity.

Then one of the children, a boy that looked to be around seven, asked, "how did you learn this, Mister?"

"From my-"

I abruptly ended the sentence then and there, lost in thought.

The child who asked me looked confused at my reactioon, and I shook just my head.

"From other people obviously, now then, are we ready to plow and till the field?"

"Yeaaaahhhh!" the children all responded happily, completely forgetting about the conversation.

We got the plows, and started pulling it together, column by column. Even though they have a physique of a child, they are not really human, so hard labor isn't tough nor dangerous to them. If they really get damaged, then the dollmaker will simply fix it.

And so that took up all morning, plowing the fields, tilling it, and then planting the seeds.

A lot of labor really makes these tasks go faster.

Now then, the water.

A few of the started a holedigging with the shovels, which I got from those retail stores. It wasn't too difficult digging a hole, we just have to move the dirt from the bottom to the top.

We successfully found a large underground spring, which was farther than I expected, at least 60 feet, I pondered. Should I try to install water lines to bring water from the well and into the house? If so...then I need to go back to tose retail stores. Not the same ones, but the ones farther away from the town.

Maybe I should go into the city? Even if there's a lot of hunters there, with my skills and abilities, no one would notice me 'acquiring' the materials until it was too late.

With buckets, the children started the inefficient way of scooping up water from the bottom, and pass it on to the next child, who passes on to the next, and to the next...until it got to the top, where they watered the plants.

This is so extremely inefficient, its frustrating even to me. We probably do need water lines.

The sun was already setting as we finished the completion of the farm for the day. Seeds were planted, waters were poured onto the seeds, fertilizers were planted...there's nothing else for now.

Our group reunited with the fixing group, who was taking a break. They were a little more than halfway done with the 'outside' of the the orphanage, which was actually surprising considering the size. I shouldn't judge their efficiency based off of regular humans...

I repeated what we've done yesterday, cooking for the orphans.

As I finished serving the last child, I turne to look at the Dollmaker, who was still leaning against the tree, napping. He does sleep a lot, doesn't he? With that seemingly four year old body, he probably feels tired. I walked over, and picked him up.

His eye barely opened, glancing at me, and then closed.

Although he's not really a doll, normal human needs aren't really required for a special type of mosnter like him. Still, I hope we can get the orphanage done soon, so we can figure out our plans for our sanctuary.

As long as we stay hidden, the world and its inhabitants won't conflict with us.

The dungeon might spawn once in a while, but we can easily take care of that.

Another day ended.

...

Two weeks and a half has passed.

I smiled as I walked away from my balcony on the fourth floor, and into the house, looking down the stairs. The children were ambling about in their new white clothes, doing chores and the like.

The orphanage was completed since yesterday night, its walls all fixed, the glass cleaned and replaced. The wooden floor was also fixed, and carpets were draped over them. The furnitures were finished as well, tables and chairs placed inside the orphanage, with candles and chandeliers placed on the walls and ceilings respectively.

Beds were placed in the many rooms of the orphanage. The building has four floors: the main floor, the second, third, and forth floor. The main floor was where the main library, the main dining hall, a kitchen, and a computer room.

Yes, we even have a computer room, with electricity and wifi. How did we get it? Just like I always did, 'borrowing' around tens of computers, keyboards, mouses, and PCs.

We do need some entertainment after all, plus we need a way to find out what's happening in the outside world, to warn us just in case if anything catastrophic will happen.

The hunters shall be our meatshields against the coming disaster.

If there is one, but I know there will be. Why would the dungeons appear in this world?

Anyways, the floors above except for the fourth were hallways filled with rooms, a lot of beds in each one.

Turns out this orphanage can house 5000 children, which a couple extra rooms. That's how big this orphanage was.

The fourth as only for me, with a room, an office, a small library, and a bathroom. From the forth floor, you can see all the way down to the main room, which was where the entrance was placed.

Bathrooms were placed on the first to third floors respectively, easily accessed. Each bathroom has multiple toilets, sinks, and even baths. Yes, we even have the water lines installed, the plumbing and filters all have been sorted out. How? There's something called the Internet, and we might have 'acquired' these supplies and materials from a variety of stores.

Once again, just like I always did.

And also books to fill the libraries.

I'm pretty sure by now that the Hunter's Organization, an organization which was founded months after dungeons started appearing in this world, along with the awakened hunters, which was about 5 years ago. They probably already noticed this problem.

But they wouldn't find us. Who would go look into a forest and a supposed empty orhpanage?

Speaking of the Hunter's Organization, there were several ones in each country, and they keep the guilds in check. Yes, guilds. Just like in those novels, hunters establish guilds and delve into the dungeon, searching for loot and materials.

This organization will probably issue a case to the nearest guilds to investigate this anomaly.

And it still won't matter...unless a hunter has a special unique skill. But those skills are rarely awaken in hunters.

I walked down the stairs, slowly, moving aside as a pair of children rushed past me excitedly down the stairs, apologizing to me before running off into the hallways of the second floor.

I smiled.

This was what I wanted. A peaceful sanctuary, where everyone can be happy. It definitley won't last forever, as the world is always growing, with hunters at the forefront looking for new opportunities.

I got down to the main room, and with the children greeting me and saying "Mister!", I walked out the doors, and out into the sunlight. Outside, I saw some of them planting flowers into the ground.

Apparently they wanted to start decorating the 'plain' green prarie with something colorful.

I agreed of course.

Where did we get the flowers? We took some from the wild, and as for the others...you should already know by now.

I turned my head, and saw the farm.

It had at least doubled its size, and children were tending the soils, watering and checking to make sure if they're alright.

As it has been at least two weeks, the green sprouts barely grew out of the soil. It was still spring, so we have time to prepare.

Last week, it came to me that I never checked what month and day it is. It was April 4th, and so now its April 11, 2015.

I also never checked which area this place was at. I know we are in England, but which exact place? Apparently it was Glastonbury... a place said to have housed Avalon, the Ever Distant Utopia.

...how suspicious, for our orphanage to be named the 'Silent Everdistant Sanctuary'...

When I think of Avalon, a specific king comes to mind from a series of games and anime...

...if these dungeons existed from a past, then shouldn't there be a dungeon related to King Artori-Arthur?

If there was, I would want to check it out...and maybe nab Excalibur and its scabbard.

We've gone off topic.

For the our final project...the greenhouse.

The greenhouse project was not finished yet, but we'll get there soon. As for now...what awaits us is happiness...and normal day difficulties.

...

Maybe I should make a natural salt pond to produce salt?

-Somewhere-

A car was driving along a gravel road.

"Ugh, why do we have to go to some backwater place?" a guy said in the shotgun seat.

The driver of the car, a bald man wearing sunglasses, sighed.

"You've been complaining for the past hour...please."

"I know, I know, it's just that...why do we have to go out to some backwater place? Just leave it to the lower ranked guys!"

The driver glanced at him for a second, before turning back to the road.

"Like I've said before, the boss just wants us to check the anomaly happening in the towns and cities surrounding Glastonburg. A variety of things disappeared-food, furniture, materials-they've all just seem to walk up and leave. It's very strange...let's just hope this isn't something big."

The guy in the shot gun seat leaned back into the chair, turning his head to look out the window, snorting.

"Let's just make this quick."
