A quarter of the student's quirks started lighting up at the prospect of danger, and the rest started running, shoving each other aside as they all rushed for the one single exit.
As they came closer, Star felt all the buzzing in her head crescendo and thanked her lucky stars- heh, get it?- that she put hard liquor in her water bottle for emergencies. The hundreds of words in her head dulled into a semi-manageable buzzing and she patted herself on the back- literally- for her quick thinking. She might've maybe overdone it in her haste, though… She suddenly felt really really warm.
It wasn't until the Spiky Boi with the spiky mind stiffened next to her and grabbed her arm tightly, that she realized her mistake. She looked up at the exit sign near them, and back at the mob just feet away and simply let out a "Mother fu-"
The mob hit them both like a truck, and they were closed in on all sides. She felt the General Education kid from before press into her and grin maliciously. She suddenly regretted having her quirk dulled as he shoved through her and Spiky's connected bodies, ripping them apart.
"YOU BASTARD-"
"SHIT!"
Star's relaxed body was easily pushed through the crowd, until she heard a manly "Everyone! Stop freakin' out!" from the pointy red hair sticking up from the crowd, accompanied by equally pointy yellow. The pointy bros!
"KIRI!" She shouted, waving her arms. She could vaguely hear Spiky shouting, but she wasn't sure from where.
He looked over at the shout, confused, before noticing Star and nabbing her from the direction she was heading and pulling her towards the duo. She had almost gotten to him when he had to let her go, being pushed roughly from the side.
"SORRY OLIVIA! HOT POTATO HEADING YOUR WAY KAMINARI!" He shouted to the pointy yellow haired man. This time she was pulled successfully, and she reached the two. She could hear Spiky behind them now, shouting "DIE!" to all the people he shoved past.
"CALAMARI!" She shouted happily. Kiri barked out a laugh, despite being pushed from all sides, and Calamari let go of her in surprise at being called food.
"NOOO!" She shouted, falling back into the mob "I'M SIIINKIIING!"
She was buried by the mob until just her hand was showing, and she decided that if she survived being held hostage and mentally tortured for a week just to die by the hand of a panicked mob, she was going to ask for a damn refund.
She also decided to never drink that much hard liquor that quickly again, but that was irrelevant.
Star gasped as she felt a hot calloused hand close around hers, pulling her up and pressing her against the window. She looked up into Spiky's scowling face as he braced his arms on either side of her head, against the window behind them. He winced harshly as students pushed against his back, and she instinctively reached out and touched his chest to see what from. She saw an image of him falling on his back last night and felt the pain accompanying it, and a twinge of guilt crept up her spine, sobering her mood.
Wait, an image? She touched him again, and between his winces he looked at her hand on his chest, confused. She got multiple spiking feelings and images at once from him at the idea of her touching him, but no surface thoughts. What the heck, even when she touched him? That was when her read was the strongest though-
"LISTEN UP! EVERYTHING IS OKAY!" A booming voice from above yelled, making everyone freeze. "IT IS JUST THE MEDIA OUTSIDE, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!" Star looked up to see Speedy Boi floating above the exit sign.
She sagged in relief that they were safe, and she felt Spiky sag in relief that everyone had gone still and stopped pushing him.
"WE ARE UA STUDENTS! WE NEED TO REMAIN CALM AND PROVE THAT WE ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST!"
Star grinned broadly. She KNEW she had picked correctly! She was so happy with herself that she didn't even acknowledge the credit belonged to the use of her quirk when she leaned against him on move-in day, and instead gave all the credit to her obviously superior gut feelings.
Spiky 'tch'ed at her stupid sized grin and grabbed her hand, pulling her through the now chattering crowd and back towards the cafeteria.
"Wait, but-"
"Shut it Red, you're not going anywhere until you eat, you goddamn drunkard. That was way too much work." He snapped, pushing her forward to the now empty line.
She looked blankly at the menu. "Ummmmm…."
"Tch" He scoffed, stepping up next to her. "Two small number 3's to go, one as spicy as you can make it." A minute later he grabbed the two boxes, shoving one into Star's hands, and opening his own. "Walk and eat, I'm taking you to Recovery Girl."
"But-"
"No 'but's!" He grunted, shoving food in his own mouth. She looked at hers before shrugging and eating it as well. At least she didn't have to buy Mashirao's lunch, she giggled.
"Yeah yeah, laugh it up. Just wait until I get to kick your damn ass in training for this." He scowled, kicking open the door since his hands were full with him eating, and announcing, "This little thing is drunk. Fix her."
Recovery Grandma looked at Spiky, and Star giggled again at her annoyed expression.
"I am well aware of Olivia's condition. In fact, I am the one who encouraged it after the incident." Recovery Gram told him, as if he was a child. Star giggled again. "But I suppose I can sober her up a bit since she has a history of motion sickness, and today is that USJ training they insist on. Come here, dearie."
Star started forward, still eating her food, and beamed when Recovery Grandma kissed her cheek. She slowly felt her mind and body feel more normal until it was just a nice buzz, and sighed with relief.
She preferred being drunk, but not THAT drunk. She reminded herself to stock up on wine or something instead, that was a rollercoaster. Speaking of…
"Bakugo has a hurt jaw and back by the way, Miss Recovery Girl. Must've been from the panic after that alarm." She smiled sweetly at the lady before turning to Bakugo, challenging him to disagree. He looked at her with heated eyes before scoffing. She grinned. Good, now they're mostly even after last night. Mostly.
"Is that so? Come here, boy!"
He dragged his feet over, slowly, and looked away moodily as the wet lips touched his cheek. "There, good as new! Now out with you both, they should be loading the buses soon! Shoo!"
Star nodded with a "Thanks, Recovery Girl!" and walked away. As Bakugo caught up with her- damn her tiny legs- she looked up at him and sighed. She wasn't planning on talking to him yet after last night. Despite knowing that the anger wasn't all directed at her, it had caused a chain reaction that pitted General Education against her.
But he really had helped her out. Multiple times now, in fact. And even apologized, despite how she could feel his physical pain at having to do so. That had to count for something, right?
"Thank you for waking me up last night, thank you for helping me in the crowd, and thank you for helping me after. You were an asshole to me, and I'm not going to forget that... but I appreciate your help." She said honestly. She -again- got too many things from his mind to untangle, like watching 6 movies all at the same time on the same screen.
He was silent for a second, before he quietly 'tch'ed and looked away towards the hall window. "If you drop out before I can kick your ass in a fight, I'll kill you myself."
She touched his arm and felt the conflicting images fight around his head, but the guilt stayed the same in most of them, and she smiled a bit. "Okay. I'll stay, don't worry."
"Tch, when did I ever say I was worried, Red?" He denied, but she knew better. Then, he suddenly looked away from the window and back at her with a serious expression. "Hey, what is your damn quirk anyway?"
She just grinned at him and shrugged, taking her hand off his arm. "Maybe if you're lucky, you'll find out today, after I rescue the most people and leave you in the dust." She replied cheekily as they reached the group waiting for the bus. He growled in response and she laughed, feeling the weight of last night's dream of the creatures and screams finally lifting from her shoulders.
