Star Skyline 2

As they reached the start of the minefield, Hitoshi looked at her nervously. "Please don't get hurt, Star."

She shot him a look as he used her real name, but let it go since explosions were sounding off. "I probably won't, I promise!"

"That's hardly a promise…" He sighed, but began moving smoothly through the obstacles anyway.

Star took a split second to be impressed, before making her way through them as well. Taking a wrong step, she was shot forward by the explosion, landing on an obstacle that made her fly up before returning to the same spot on the ground. She had gained time, then lost time. This was so unpredictable!

She was still just behind Hitoshi though, and kept her eyes on the ground this time, carefully making her way through. She heard Katsuki, and looked up to see him catch up to Slushie, grinning at the sight. About to cheer him on, she had to look back down instead when she almost misstepped. He was confident enough anyway, he didn't need cheering, she reminded herself.

Suddenly, there was a huge explosion behind her, and Star lost her balance as the ground shook, landing on a mine. As she shot to the side, Deku flew over her on a piece of metal. She changed her mind. THAT was a heck of a debut.

She landed on her wrist in an area that had already gone off, and kept looking down as she got up, trying to not get anymore pink dust on her from setting off explosions. She ran after Hitoshi, both of them moving to where the mines had already gone off, and they sprinted towards the end. Her heart was racing as her legs went numb, and she could tell Hitoshi was also feeling it.

As the light at the end of the tunnel shined, Hitoshi saw her behind him, and pushed himself even harder. Training with Mashirao for two months seemed to pay off for him, as Hitoshi finished seconds before her, both of them collapsing and breathing heavily. Only seeing about 15 other people there, she knew they made it, and crashed into him clumsily with a hug.

Panting, she beamed at him. "We… We did it! ...You made it to… the next round… You can… show them… that they made a… mistake, Hitsohi!" She breathed heavily, before letting him go. He let one of his rare, genuine smiles show as he looked around at the cheering crowd, taking it in. Ruffling her hair in response, he went to find Mashirao, who had finished just before them.

She glanced around as they waited for everyone to finish, and saw Katsuki. He was glistening with sweat and looked ready to kill, in a sour mood, but Star was too excited (and drunk) to notice. She threw her arms around him as he stumbled back in surprise, both of them falling to the ground. Landing on top of him, their faces close, she immediately started chattering away, oblivious.

"Congrats, Katsuki!! You're so freaking awesome! You're one of the top students in the whole year! Training really did pay off! I-" She was interrupted by him shoving her off of him roughly.

"Are you seriously drunk?! WHAT THE FUCK OLIVIA, ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" He roared at her, standing up from where they had fallen on the ground.

Star felt hurt and anger flash through her in her drunken state as he shoved her off of him and started yelling. She was just trying to congratulate him, and if she didn't drink, she wouldn't even be able to be here right now! The school understood, so why didn't he?

She pushed herself up, failing momentarily as she realized her wrist had been injured when she landed from one of the explosions. Sucking in a breath, she blinked back her tears from the pain of that, and his words, and used her other arm to push herself up. She cursed her drunken overemotional state as he kept yelling.

"Is being a hero a fucking joke to you?! I'm here training my ass off with you, and you can't even stay sober for the most important event of the year?! Everyone here is aiming to be the best, they're giving it their damn best! If I'm going to be number one, I don't have time for someone who doesn't even try!"

Present Mic started announcing the results, and when Star heard who got first, Katsuki's behaviour suddenly made sense. This wasn't the first time he had taken his insecurities out on her, but it would be the last.

She snapped.

"THIS IS ME TRYING! I couldn't even be here right now without drinking! Don't project your anger over not getting first on me over things you know nothing about!" She yelled back, trying to fight her tears.

She was exhausted, in pain, upset, and the ringing in her ears was so loud that she couldn't tell if it was even in her head or not anymore. The yells of the crowded stadium mixed with their loud buzzing thoughts now that they weren't in the obstacle course, and she was passing her limit rapidly.

"You think I want to invade everyone's privacy?! You think I'm supposed to know what the tasks are? What the answers to the questions in class are? Who Calamari likes? What Slushie is afraid of? What All Might has to deal with? The guilt Mashirao feels when he looks at me? DO YOU THINK I WANT THAT?!" Her hands were trembling now, and she could barely hear Present Mic continuing to list the names in order of placement. Tears started rolling down her cheeks freely, leaving streaks in the pink dust on her face.

"It's your own damn quirk, Olivia! Don't give me that excuse, you should be fucking used to it by now-"

"OLIVIA!" Someone yelled behind her, but she ignored it, focused on the raging man in front of her.

"THAT'S JUST IT, KATSUKI! This isn't supposed to be what my quirk is! My quirk was supposed to be simple! I touch someone and I can read their thoughts! That's it! But because of a psychopath with drugs and a stupid mask, I found out that's not what it even was! It grew through overexertion and amplification to the point where now I hear everyone, all the time, all around me! I can't even hear my own thoughts-"

Hitoshi and Mashriao interrupted her and frantically gestured at the screen as they entered her line of sight. She looked up, frustrated, and what she saw stopped her anger in its tracks. On the big screen, visible to anyone in the world looking for it, read:

17th place - Star Skyline.

She froze as everything felt like it was crashing down around her. It must have been in the computer system since she was registered in the school under her real name! Only the teachers knew to change her name, not the computer! As Hitoshi's name was announced in 16th place, she glanced at them in horror, knowing what was next.

Aizawa must have realized it at the same time as she had, but was too late to cut Present Mic off, who was already in the process of reading, "Star Skyline in 17th pl-"

"Olivia has been withdrawn from the competition!" Aizawa cut off, playing damage control and trying to give her an out before the audience could catch on.

It was too late, though.

Horrified, Star watched as whispers broke out around the stadium. The cameras, set to automatically zoom in on whoever was being talked about, fell on her before any of the teachers could reach the manual controls. Star ducked down and tried to hide her tear stained face right as Present Mic found the cut camera switch, but it wasn't enough. Her face had shown for a single second before the screen went blank, turning back on with a wide view shot.

Star saw her opportunity, and sprinted off the field, hurriedly ripping her arm out of Bakugo's sweaty grip as she passed him. It was too late. It had finally happened.

Her secret was out.
