Now that they were up, Keigo could see them.
Skyline's face was pretty flushed, not having missed the innuendo in Baugo's nickname, and Bakugo was smirking at her. Skyline walked away toward Keigo, and Bakugo looked around him at the view.
Keigo recognized the expression on his face. It was the same expression he himself had whenever he was flying. That was part of the reason he picked the guy. He had so much potential to use his quirk to take to the sky. It'd be a shame to waste. He'd have to recruit the bird student when he was ready to actually teach, but first things first. Information.
Skyline's hair was dancing around her in the high altitude wind, looking like it was alive and actively trying to suffocate her. Bakugo looked over and chuckled under his breath. Keigo had to admit that it looked pretty silly, and just got funnier with the Chickadee's increased frustration.
"Can you hold this for me so I can tie up my hair?" Skyline huffed, holding the feather out to Bakugo. Bakugo walked up to her as if he was going to take it, and Keigo tensed, waiting for the guy to touch the soft part again.
Instead, Bakugo reached for her other arm. Hair flying in her face, Skyline couldn't move away from him well, and he easily pulled her hair tie from her wrist.
"Wha-"
"Turn around, crazy hair."
Keigo heard Skyline huff, but she complied, turning away from Bakugo. Reaching around her head, Bakugo gathered the dancing hair into his hands, pulling it back. Keigo smirked to himself, deciding to give them this moment before he interrupted.
Bakugo hesitated, distracted by something as his fingers ran through Skyline's hair. She shifted, and he quickly tied it off, pulling his hands back.
"Er, thanks, Katsuki." Skyline said hesitantly as her flushed cheeks got even darker, matching her hair. Bakugo again smirked at the sight.
The woman didn't exactly have much of a poker face, did she? It was pretty obvious how much she liked the loud man-
Skyline cleared her throat, glancing up and locking eyes with Keigo. "Um, by the way... You can stop spying on us now..." Skyline said in embarrassment.
Thankfully he was sitting, or else he would've given away his shocked reaction. Little chickadee was full of surprises, wasn't she? He really didn't know anything about her since she was withdrawn from the festival.
Keigo let out a light chuckle at the situation. Bakugo spun around and finally noticed him perched lazily on a satellite above them.
The feather left Skyline's hands, returning to Keigo as he landed easily in front of them, hands casually in his pockets. "Aren't you two just full of surprises. I wasn't expecting you to come up here so soon. That's no fun, ya know. I was hoping for a longer break than that."
He sighed. "What can ya do though. Well, I guess we'll begin."
Bakugo stood frozen, staring at Keigo with an open mouth as he walked past them. Like a good duckling, Skyline followed after him again. Bakugo eventually stormed after them, cursing along the way.
By the time Bakugo made it down the ladder, Keigo was floating above the couch, a few feathers rotating around him. Skyline was on the couch across from him, hugging her knees to her chest as she stared at him intensely.
Her concentration was broken as Bakugo fell into the seat next to her, landing hard enough to jostle her. She sent Bakugo a pointed look as she gestured to all the other available seats elsewhere, and he pointedly ignored it.
"Alright then, ask away." Keigo said casually, putting his hands behind his head and reclining in the air with legs casually crossed.
"Why the hell are we here, and not in the field at your agency?" Bakugo barked, leaning forward in his seat as his knee bounced up and down restlessly.
Keigo let out a hum, before opening an eye to look at Skyline. "Another hero and I were tasked with finding the Hero Killer. And as you're well aware, he's somewhere in this very city. Right, Chickadee?"
Skyline had gone pale, a stark contrast to how flushed her face had been before. Looks like he landed a direct hit.
She swallowed, ignoring Bakugo's stare as she asked her own question, changing the subject. "Why did you choose us then. Honestly."
Keigo grinned, this was the exciting part of the conversation. "Fifty percent of it was because I wanted to talk to somebody from Class 1-A about those little punks who attacked you guys, calling themselves 'the League of Villains'."
"Are you shitting me?" Bakugo growled, standing up. Skyline didn't look surprised, but also didn't look happy.
"Nah, I'm 60 percent percent serious."
The smile Keigo flashed the guy was condescending at best with how lazy it looked.
"Figured if I had to pick, it'd be someone who could keep up with me, and had a lot of promise. So why not the one who can fly with his explosions, and came in first place? Seemed like a promising choice. 'Course, I didn't know if you'd come."
"Which is why you sent two requests." Skyline finished, her voice strange. What a smart bird. It's almost as if she were reading his mind.
Keigo's eyes stayed closed as he relaxed in the air. "Right-o, Chickadee. You're much faster than your partner, aren't you?" He ignored Bakugoi's growl, continuing. "That, and for some reason, your name keeps mysteriously popping up in every major case I'm assigned to, ya know that?"
Skyline's response was strained. "...I'm aware."
Looks like another direct hit for Keigo, goodie.
"Oi, what the fuck does that mean?" Bakugo demanded, looking between Keigo and Skyline. She looked away, avoiding her boyfriend's gaze. Interesting…
If they were together, Bakugo would know exactly what he was talking about. It had only been three months ago. Hell, the Hero Killer was connected to her a week ago. "Your little Star didn't tell you? I suppose you two aren't a couple after all. Hmm."
Bakugo bristled at the last comment, before spitting out, "What the hell are you on about, you giant pigeon?"
Such creativity, at least this intern wouldn't get boring. "Your little Star was my main recruitment, ya know. Especially since the Shinso kid couldn't receive offers and all. What better way to get info about an organization, than from one of the people who was held captive by them for a week?"
Bakugo stilled, and Skyline glanced at the guy anxiously. Oops, looks like he didn't know about that one either. Just how much did this woman keep to herself? No wonder the reports were incomplete. Apparently it wasn't just because she was sedated. Regardless, he continued.
"And, if you'd believe it, the Hero Killer we're hunting down is ALSO involved with the woman! Man, you've got some bad luck there, little Starling." Keigo chuckled, eyes on Skyline now as he measured her responses to his words.
Skyline stiffened as she stared Keigo down, as if she saw through what he was doing. She didn't look too good, with her white knuckles gripping her knees tightly. The little bird had gone completely pale, and Keigo felt a jolt of guilt go through him. He pushed it away though. He needed the information if he was going to come out of infiltrating the League of Villains alive.
Skyline jolted as if shocked. "You're being a double agent?" She accused, eyes wide.
That knocked him right out of the damn air, causing him to fall on the couch before tumbling off and hitting the ground. The air hummed with danger as his feathers flew at her.
Bakugo shifted in front of her as the feathers flew, his hands lit up. The feathers moved faster though, avoiding him and stopping just short of Skyline's throat. Ha, told you I was faster, Keigo thought to himself.
"How'd ya know that, Skyline?" Keigo asked casually, as if he didn't have his quirk at her throat. He let the warning sound through his actions rather than his words.
"Are you serious?" Skyline deadpanned.
Keigo grinned at her, moving the feather so it was touching her now. "Yep! Seventy percent so, Starling. Talk."
Skyline pushed the feather to the side, ignoring his shudder as she did. "You asked to mentor me without even knowing my quirk?"
Ah, she has a mental quirk. Go figure. The feathers returned to Keigo and he shrugged casually, resuming his position in the air.
That was even better for him. She would have even more information, since she was able to hear the thoughts of the villains around her. "All I cared about is that you had information."
Skyline twitched at the words, color returning to her face as her eyes burned into him.
"Well unlike me, you're not a mind reader. So if you want the information, you're going to have to find a way to train us."
Keigo looked at them both, before shrugging. He could manage that. He wanted to show the angry one air movement anyway.
He'd have to call in a favor to train Skyline, but it'd work out just fine. As long as he got the information he needed. "Yeah, fine, whatever. Let's chat over the details tonight, and I'll find something for the morning. That enough for you two?"
"Fucking peachy." Bakugo scowled, answering for the both of them.
Pulling Skyline up by the arm, Bakugo tugged her along with him as he stormed away.
Probably for the best, with the look Skyline was giving Keigo. The woman was either going to cry, or attack someone. Keigo felt a weight in his chest at the thought, and instinctively sent a feather after them once they closed their door.
Keigo sensed through the vibrations in his feather as Bakugo let go of Skyline, pushing her lightly so she'd sit on a bed. There was a pause, and then Bakugo sighed.
"He's a shithead, Freckles. We picked a shitty agency. We'll just train together instead, like we did for the festival. Life goes on."
Keigo's lip twitched down.
"I thought someone actually chose me for something other than my name, Katsuki. Being chosen because I'm a victim, though?" There was a pause. "That's so much worse."
Bakugo walked over and sat next to her, Skyline leaning into him. He seemed to shift, maybe uncomfortably, but didn't move away.
It was quiet, then Bakugo sighed knowingly. "Yeah. It really fucking is."
Keigo sighed as well, running a hand through his wind swept hair, and picked up his phone. Dialing a number, it was answered before it even rang.
"Yes?"
"...I need to cash in that favor."
