~~~Months Ago, UA Move-in Day~~~
Star Skyline laid face up on the blue fuzzy rug in her new dorm room, sweat dripping down her chin, and sighed dramatically. Her arms felt tired, her hands tense from her work with a hammer.
Mashirao's hair barely touched her own as he tiredly laid down facing the opposite direction, adding his own quiet sigh into the air. Staring up at the ceiling painted above them, she let her breathing calm and her body relax.
Star hummed and closed her eyes, "Can you hear that?"
"Hear what?" Mashirao's response sounded drained, but content at their work. Star could feel his muscles ache along with hers from his mind.
"Exaaaaaaaactly…" She joked, grinning in contentment at the now sound proofed walls. It was her condition for coming, knowing that when the incident is mentioned too much, her night terrors were… loud. Hitoshi had also looked into buying them. Mashirao hadn't asked questions, but she was aware he had already figured it out.
"The sound of silence comes at a heavy price, for both you and Hitoshi." Mashirao grumbled, massaging his martial art toned arms.
Her eyes fluttered open to the welcoming sight of the galaxy painted above her. "What would that be, monkey man?"
The familiar quiet hum filled her relaxed mind as she listened to all of the possibilities going through his own mind, and his second long offense at her nickname for him. At least she was smashed after her last shot. She wasn't sure she wanted to read too deeply what his subconscious could come up with, despite his touchingly noble mind. Though, his mind was so familiar to her that she wasn't sure she could ever truly tune him out. His thoughts finally became understandable as he finalized his choice.
Chuckling at his thought, she cut him off before he spoke. "No, not that one."
His scoff seemed to be swallowed by the quiet air around them, and he responded to her protest in his mind.
Listening for a second, she spoke out loud. "Nuh-uh, you had to move like, what, 3 things into your room? It's the most basic set up I've ever seen! I was doing you a favor by recruiting you to destroy my walls, and Hitoshi's too!"
Mashirao used his tail to push himself up from their exhaustion induced state and offered her a hand, which she gladly took. "Lunch for a month." He quietly smiled. He pulled back on her hand as she stood, balancing her as she started tipping the opposite way.
"Uuuuugh brain ruuuush… I see stars..." The complaint slurred from her lips as she held her head in her hand, squeezing her eyes shut. She quickly snapped them open to send a glare towards her best friend who was still stabilizing her. "Don't be rude!" She hissed, knowing the thoughts behind his suspiciously composed face.
His lips twitched, "I was concerned." Mashirao removed his hand, apparently deciding she was steady enough.
Scowling, she flicked her long hair over her shoulder. "Concerned your face would betray you, more like." She 'humph'ed and opened the door.
She could hear the thought before it came out of his mouth, and gasped at the audacity.
"You're going to extort Hitoshi too?! YOU VILLAIN!" She turned around and stomped her foot childishly, her astonished look increasing as the faint chuckle he was trying to hide escaped it's prison behind his lips.
"VILLAIN?! COME HERE YOU BASTARD!" Was the only warning she received before someone slammed into her. She wasn't sure if the electricity was from her surprise, a quirk, or something else, but she didn't have time to figure it out as she hit the floor. They pushed past her and into the room, popping noises, bright lights, and smoke following in after them.
"WHAT THE HECK MAN-" Star started yelling, but he didn't look back at her.
"YOU!!" The intruder pointed menacingly at Mashirao, who had slipped into a fighting stance when he heard the yelling.
She heard Mashirao yell, but couldn't see him well behind the tall muscular figure in front of her. "STAR!"
The husky voice growled protectively. "DON'T COME NEAR HER!"
This was all just a misunderstanding! Talk about cannon balling to conclusions! "WHAT THE F-"
Mashirao seemed to have the same thought, "WAIT-"
Her 'protector' lunged, "DIE VILLAIN!"
