Without even looking at her, he walked towards the front door and said, "Let's go."
Elena lowered her head and followed Lu Chenjun out of the building and into his car. The entire car ride to the restaurant was quiet.
When the car stopped outside of the restaurant, Lu Chenjun exited the car without waiting for Elena. Elena thanked Fang Shi for driving them before also getting out of the car.
When they entered the restaurant, it was empty. Elena looked at her watch. It was only 12:30. This restaurant was usually filled with people, so why was it empty today?
Lu Chenjun sat down on a large table next to a window, and Elena sat down across from him.
Elena looked up at Lu Chenjun, who was reading the menu. "Chenjun, do you know why the restaurant is so empty today?"
Lu Chenjun flipped the page on the menu and took a glance at Elena.
"I booked the entire restaurant for two hours."
Elena almost choked on her own saliva. Booking a single table in this restaurant was just a little under 10,000 yuan. How much money did he spend to book this entire restaurant?
"You didn't have to do that."
Lu Chenjun closed the menu, "Why? You want news of us going on a date to be exposed that badly?"
Elena looked stunned for a moment but soon regained her composure.
'So he had booked the restaurant because he didn't want to be seen on a date with me', she thought. By now, Elena was sure that Lu Chenjun wanted to break up with her.
She looked up confidently and smiled, "I don't want to be exposed to the news. It's just that it's not really worth it."
Lu Chenjun picked up the glass of water and took a sip.
"Who says it isn't worth it? Plus, it wasn't that expensive. For two hours, it was only about 100,000 yuan," Lu Chenjun said casually.
Elena couldn't understand the lives of rich people like him, and she didn't really want to understand. She nodded awkwardly and drank a sip of water from her own glass.
Lu Chenjun called the waiter over and ordered two main dishes and two desserts. After giving the menu back to the waiter, he leaned forward on the table and stared at Elena.
Elena didn't like how Lu Chenjun was looking at her, so she looked out the window instead.
"Jin Yinghui, I have something important to tell you."
Elena immediately looked back at Lu Chenjun and put a hand up, signaling for him to stop talking.
"It's okay. I know what you want to say. Let's talk about this later okay."
Elena was afraid that if she heard those three words now, she would lose her appetite. The food is innocent, so she can't put the delicious food to waste.
Lu Chenjun raised his eyebrows and nodded. Elena sighed and looked back towards the people walking on the sidewalk. In less than 20 minutes, the waiter came back, holding the food in his hands.
Elena looked at the food and thought, 'This is going to be the last meal Lu Chenjun is going to pay for me. I should get the most out of it.'
She picked up her knife and fork and began cutting up the steak. She didn't care if Lu Chenjun thought her table manners were bad. They were going to break up anyway.
"Stop eating so fast. Eat slower."
Lu Chenjun couldn't help but laugh at seeing Elena eat like a horse. Whenever he ate with other girls, they would take three bites and then pretend to be full. He could never eat comfortably with those other girls.
Seeing Elena eat so happily, Lu Chenjun's appetite also increased. He cut a big chunk of meat off his steak and put it into his mouth. When did this restaurant taste this good?
After five minutes of silent eating, Lu Chenjun decided that he needed to at least tell Elena what he was thinking.
Lu Chenjun dropped his fork, "Um. . . Jin Yinghui."
Elena swallowed a mini potato and began cutting another piece of steak.
"Can we talk now?" Lu Chenjun never had to ask someone to talk. It was always the other way around.
Elena immediately stopped cutting and took a gulp of water.
"Wait one second. Let me go use the restroom real quick."
Elena quickly got up and ran to the restroom. She looked at herself through the mirror and smiled. She quickly fixed her makeup and hair before going back out.
Lu Chenjun's gaze followed her as she walked out of the restroom and sat back down across from him.
"Can we talk now?" Lu Chenjun asked impatiently.
"Let me take a bite of the mousse cake first." Elena knew that she wouldn't be in the mood to eat after, so she wanted to taste the cake first. It was delicious.
"Okay, Lu Chenjun. I know what you want to say, and I am totally fine with it. Are you happy with this answer?"
Lu Chenjun raised his eyebrows and studied Elena's expression.
"You are totally fine with it?"
Elena hesitated a second before nodding.
Lu Chenjun smiled. He had made a guess about what Elena was thinking. His assumptions were usually correct.
"Since you agreed, you cannot take your word back. Understand?"
Looking at Lu Chenjun's amused facial expression, Elena began to doubt herself.
"Wait, what did you want to talk about?"
Lu Chenjun lifted one finger up and shook it.
"You know what I am talking about. First promise that you won't take your word back."
Elena quickly analyzed the current situation.
'He had to be talking about breaking up. First, he never dated anyone for over two weeks, and my time limit is up. Second, I had a terrible attitude towards him yesterday, so it makes sense for him to break up with me. Therefore, the only thing he could be talking about right now is breaking up, right?'
Elena looked up at Lu Chenjun before nodding.
"I won't take my word back."
Lu Chenjun chuckled as he picked up his fork again.
Like she had expected, Elena lost her appetite right away. She grabbed her bag and stood up.
"Thank you for the meal. Since you broke up with me and I am no longer your girlfriend anymore, I will be leaving now."
As Elena turned around to leave, she felt a strong hand lock around her wrist. She looked back and saw that Lu Chenjun had stood up already, and was grabbing onto her hand.
She looked at Lu Chenjun, who had an amused smile on his face. Then, she looked at her wrist and tried to pull it out of Lu Chenjun's grasp.
"Let me go."
Lu Chenjun laughed as he pulled her into his arms, "Who said I was going to break up with you?"
