End of Prologue.

The sound of the warship shook something inside of Kai Jeong. All the face of his crew and their families flashed in his head, the promises that he made, and the situations that he drugs them into play in his mind. If anything happened to these men and women, then he was solely to blame.

Kai performed a low spinning sweep kick and created a ring of fire around himself to create distance. The moment Kai got to his feet again and fists erupt with multicolor flames burning with a ferocious intensity, launching himself into the air like a rocket.

Like a comet, Kai flew across the sky, shocking many with a powerful display of firebending. But one soldier was in an awestruck stupor. And unfortunately, this soldier was training to join one of the Fire Nations most elite units, The Yuyan Archers.

The soldier swiftly pulled his bow from his back. From a deck on Kai's ship to nearly 150 yards out, the soldiers drew and released three simultaneous arrows that penetrated Kai's back through his spine and out of his gut.

Falling from the air, Kai fell into the water with a stinging splash and sunk to its dark cold depths. The soldiers following Kai went into a roaring rage and attack the Fire Nation Soldiers with reckless abandon. Long Wei was so heartbroken, his scorching step began to soften the metal deck underneath himself and Commander Xiang.

Far from the battle, The second Fire Nation was a smaller vessel. Small enough to easily hide behind a warship, but still dangerous. The families and soldiers protecting them remained as quiet and as small as they possibly could to avoid detection. Fortunately, the Fire Nation went full steam ahead and passed them by in seconds. The lookout had reported the losing battle of the warships and the captain was in a hurry to lend a helping hand.

In the dark waters, Kai was in the process of suffocating. His body was immobilized, not even his lungs worked. But surprisingly, his malfunctioning lungs are what kept him from breathing in water. Kai was now in the spirit world, standing before Fire Lord Azulon and Avatar Roku. Behind him was a pool that led back into the ocean, Kai had released that he was standing in a cave under the Air Nomad Islands.

The old Firebenders didn't say a word but gestured for Kai to go deeper into the cave. Kai stood up and walked into the darkness. Before he knew it there wasn't any light but the light of a full moon bathing a white and black dragon. It lay coiled up, sleeping peacefully without a worry in the world.

"Hmm, once again Raava is disturbing my slumber." The dragon spoke in a strong bold voice without opening its eyes.

"I don't know who, Raava, is, Lord," Kai spoke.

"Of Course, you don't. You probably don't know who I am either."

"No, Lord."

The great spirit chuckled. "Then you will be the fifth. There is always a time when an avatar fucks shit up, Raava send a special human like you and they all fail. So, go on boy, bath the koi fish in your fire."

"What…" Tenko was interrupted mid-sentence when he and the dragon appeared next to a moonlit pond with one white and one black koi fish swimming around each other in perfect synch.

Kai could feel a grand aura coming from the spirit within the koi fish. "Are they?" Kai asked.

"The Moon and the Ocean Spirit? Yes, they are." The dragon replied.

A moment the koi fishes appeared in Kai's hands.

"Bath them in your flame and they will judge you." The Dragon spoke again.

Kai took long deep breathes to still his heart. He then focused on the sun with him and had a light bulb moment. Kai then channeled his energy with steady breath and his hand ignited and the Koi fish caught fire. The Dragons smug face soon vanished and he looked at Kai with mind-blowing shock.

"You did it." muttered the dragon.

In Kai's hand, the Koi fishes flap their tails and in happiness before vanishing.

"What happened?" Kai asked as he was back in the dark cave, alone.

"Boy, you understand the harmony of fire and life. Not only do your flames take life, but they are also capable of giving life. Do you know how the first dragon came to be?"

Kai shook his head as a white flash blinded him. Visions of a white Koi fish swimming in the great ocean appear. Lion turtles traveled the world and massive badger moles walked the earth. The sun and the moon shared the same sky in harmony.

One day, the white Koi fish had decided to live its life in solitude. So it lept from the ocean and flopped across many miles of land. It came upon a great waterfall. The waterfall fell to the earth and created nothing but mud. So, the Koi fished climbed the waterfall to live in the body of water that created it.

When the Koi fished reached the top. It swam in its new home for nine days and nine nights before it transformed into the first dragon of white and black.

"I spent years learning how to master fire to the standard in which I mastered the element of water. After my death, I spent 1000's of years to become the spirit I am today. And to remain the spirit I am. I will keep my promise to Raava. Will you accept me as your partner in life?"

"What will I become?" Kai asked.

"You will become the first dragon. The Dragon of the Sun and Moon. Both firebender and water bender. And quite frankly, saying no to me now means death."

"You can save me?"

"Water benders have the power to heal. With my spirit power, it will be amplified. I can save you." Said the dragon.

"Then save me, because I must save my people," said Kai.

"Then let it be done." The dragon shot forward and collided with Kai's body. His physical began to move, the water pushes the arrows free from his body, and Kai began to heal as the dark abyss shine bright blue. On Kai's back, a tattoo of a white dragon in between a sun and moon appeared.

Kai's eyes snapped open and show milky white eyes. A moment later he shot from the water and a massive geyser erupted from the ocean, launching the small Fire Nation vessel into the air. Kai stood on the surface of the water and performed fluid movements, the geyser swallowed the ship and pulled into the sea. Kai pushed down and a wave of water carried him back to the battle of the warships.

Leapin from the wave, Kai controlled two fast-spinning rings of water that circled his body, but when Kai landing deck of the ruined ship, the Fire Nation was already defeated.

Many people believed that Kai was the next Avatar, but he quickly put those rumors to bed. He wanted to avoid misunderstanding and explained to everyone that he was blessed during his journey to the spirit. That he returned as proof that the Fire Nation could live in harmony with other elemental states.

The last of the animosity and regret that Kai felt in the group, vanished after that. Using the late Commander Xiang's warship. Kai led everyone to the southern water tribe. To lay low before pushing on to the Earth Kingdom.

Kai felt nothing but sadness when he saw the state of the Southern Water Tribe. A great people that he once read about in the Fire Sage's Temple were reduced to such a sad state.

In the village, due to the burning coal on the warship, black snow fell and the villagers took this as an attack on their village. The women and children scrambled about in a panic as Kai's warship anchored at the bank of the Ice shelf…

As the giant metal bow doors crash on to the icy tundra. Kai and his crew stepped out dressed in their civilian robes. Kai had instructed them to get rid of their Fire Nation armor in order to keep the peace. Kai was black and crimson robes, his hair was pulled up in a bun held by a hair crown with the Fire Nation symbol. When Kai stepped into the snow. He registered all of the faces latent with fear.

"We mean no harm. We come in peace. Though we are from the Fire Nation, this warship is stolen and we defected. We only wish to gather our bearings and then we will be moving on. Can I speak with your Chief?" Kai addressed the village.

"The Chief is off fighting the Fire Nation. My grandson is in charge while his father is away." An elderly woman spoke up.

"May I met him?" Kai asked.

"You may. And if you truly mean no harm. Then are welcome to our village."

Kai bowed to the woman, then nodded to Long Wei. Long Wei then gave the signal for the families to come out. The Water Tribe was shocked to see so many families. The atmosphere was stiff in the beginning, but thanks to the children, tensions eased and by mid everyone could relax a bit. The adults were in a war but through the children, everyone enjoyed the innocence and blissfully ignorant atmosphere.

When the Chief's son returned, It was only natural for him to through a fit. After tempers cooled, Kai told the boy exactly what he told his grandmother.

The next day, Sokka, the Chief's son, led Kai and his men on a fishing trip. The day after, they hunted polar bears and arctic camels. Kai wanted to be as fair as possible, he ordered his men to help where they could and even hunted for the people. Though Sokka was skeptical, his younger sister warmed up fast, as long as Kai gave her no reason to distrust him, then she would gove the benefit of the doubt. She was a kind soul that way.

By the endo f the week, Kai had his people packed up and were moving on. When saying their goodbyes, Kai told them that it was best to say that they were raided by Kai and that Kai moved on as fast as he arrived.

A week and a half later, Kai and his people arrived at the shores of Kyoshi Island….
