Chapter I

99 AG

A woman with shoulder-length auburn hair, blue eyes, and fair skin was drenched in sweat as she leapt into the air to dodge an attack. A topless man with brown skin, ocean blue eyes, and shoulder-blade length black hair smiled at her. Upon his back was large yin-yang style tattoo of a white dragon in between the sun and the moon.

As the woman landed she snapped her head up to look at the man who was also drenched in sweat. She took in his perfectly sculpted body and tightly packed muscles. The woman launched forth and throw a series of attacks, even landing a few blows.

The man was suddenly caught slipping as his strike was blocked and the woman immediately countered with a flying armbar takedown. As they tumbled to the floor, the man countered into a reverse mount. From there he could have done several things, but instead, he ran his hand along her stomach and in between her supple breast. The both of them panted exhaustively, but a new kind of energy-filled their bodies.

The woman leaned back and rested her head against his chest. He messages her creamy mounds with his strong hands and she moaned ever so softly at the sensations. He kissed her shoulder, neck, jawline, then ceased her lips. They fell into a passionate and equally lust-filled kiss, reveling in the taste of the other.

She could feel his cock growing large and strong against her back. She attempted to turn around but felt his hold strength as his feet dropped between her legs and separated them with force. The woman gasped. The man snaked his free hand into the woman's pants, caressing, and spread her ambrosial lips. She moaned into his mouth as her nether regions became more tender and wet with her tenacious juices.

The two suddenly stopped when a loud and audible cough, reverberated through the dojo. The man and women woman looked towards the door and to see a woman with beautiful face paint, dressed in an adorned metal headdress and a heavily armored green kimono, kneeling and waiting.

The woman turned red but didn't shy away from her subordinate's gaze.

"What do you want, Kira?" the woman asked.

Kira cleared her throat and replied, "I'm sorry, Suki. I didn't know--"

"Kira!" Suki called out with a sweet smile. "It's okay. Just tell me what you need."

"Oyaji, wanted me to inform you and Kai that Long Wei and the White Dragon returned. They should be docking any moment now."

"What about the Tide Riders?" Kai asked.

"They should have been back before Long Wei. they may have encountered trouble." Kira replied.

Suki looked at Kai and he simply nodded. "Thank you, Kira," said Suki.

Kira then backed out and slid the door closed on her way out. Suki sighed, "We can finish tonight."

"My place or yours?" Kai asked.

"It would be simple if we just moved in together…" Suki watched Kai's reaction and felt a small pang in her heart. "You have to let her go eventually. She made her choice, but I'm here and I choose you, Kai. And if she was to come today with fifty warships, I'll still be here, by your side."

Kai smirked and his ocean blue eyes twinkled. Kai kissed Suki one last time before standing up. He then held out his hand helped her up.

Standing and inch apart, the words rolled off of his tongue faster than he could filter them. "I love you too, Suki."

Her eyes went wide and glazed over. "When did I say, I love you?" she asked in a shaky voice.

"You didn't have to. I've known for a while now."

Suki nodded her head as she sniffled. Kai cupped her face and used his thumbs to wipe away her tears. "Say it again," she said.

"Say what?" Kai asked with a teasing smirk.

Suki playfully slapped his chest and replied, " Say that you love me, idiot."

"I love you, Suki."

Suki giggled. " I love you too, Kai."

"Come on. Long Wei has probably docked by now."

Sometime later, Suki and Kai arrived at each other's side. They weren't holding hands or attached at the hip, but it was clear to all that the Kyoshi Leader, Suki, and the Leader of the White Dragon Faction, Kai Jeong, were together. Together they gave Kyoshi Island a level of security that they never had. The Island was heavily cultivated with crops for trade, the community was robust and lively. The two cultures meddled together flawlessly.

When Suki and Kai arrived at the beach. Long Wei and the crew greeted them with happy faces. But Kai was focused on the new ship more than anything. When he first arrived at Kyoshi Island and brokered a deal with the village leader and the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors, Kai sent Long Wei to scrap the warship and find a new ship to sail under the radar. Now that Long Wei has returned with a Brig with black sails and a white dragon stitched into it to match the name of the ship.

"I take it the trip went well?"

"Fantastic. The new ship was a steal. Plenty of money left over. We sailed East and found the place...It's exactly where your father said it was." Long Wei replied.

"Did you find what I was looking for?"

"Sure did. It's coming off of the ship now," said Long Wei

Kai smiled and pulled the old man into a hug.

"So, How has everything been going here?" asked Long Wei.

"Fine. The merchant ships. Tide Riders, we call them. They haven't returned yet. Besides that, everyone is very comfortable. And if there are problems...Suki takes care of them."

Long Wei smirked and looked between Kai and Suki before he nodded. " That's good. But, we learned a few things why we were out there."

Kai frowned. "What did you learn?"

"The fire nation is preparing to attack Ba Sing Se again. But this time, they're working on a new siege tool. Also, the prince has returned south. They say he's still looking for the Avatar."

Kai didn't reply. He simply nodded and walked past Long Wei to inspect the cargo that he brought. Kai then made his way to a small chest with the Water Tribe symbol on it. Opening the chest, Kai feasted on the sight of scrolls filled with a plethora of knowledge of waterbending.

"Thank you, father," he muttered.

Kai had sent Long Wei to find Wan Shi's Library. His father had theorized the location of the Library. He had even set out to find it, but sadly, he never returned. Kai shut the case and ordered his men to take it to his house.

Kai then returned to Long Wei and Suki to led them back to the village. They discussed Long Wei's trip to the desert, His interaction with local sand benders, and his adventures of the great library. Long Wei spoke of the great owl that was the Spirit Wan Shi himself. The endless aisles of elemental nation secrets, knowledge of war machines, tactics, and martial styles for benders and non-benders alike.

Suki and Kai listened intently to Long Wei's account until they arrived at the edge of the village and the atmosphere became grim as Long Wei complexion and expression changed.

"Along the way back here. We ran into a supply ship…" Long Wei sighed. "I know you said not to take supply ships but this one was heading to Whale Tail Island. They had cloth, spices, tea, food, and information."

"Information about what?" Kai asked.

"War Minister Qin's correspondence. They have a weapon…"

"I do not care, Long Wei. If they come here, we will kill them. Avatar Roku has told me to wait. So we will wait. As for Ba Sing Se, we are fire nation refugees. Even saying that sounds unbelievable. Besides the people here on Kyoshi Island and the Southern Water Tribe. No one will believe us. Let the Fire Nation attack, and we will defend. If we are strong enough and have the strategical advantage we will attack."

Long Wei bit his tongue and nodded in understanding.

Kai sighed and looked towards the sky. "You can't save everyone in this war. The Earth Kingdom is strong, they can manage. When our strength grows, we will take the southern territories and bring the war to the heart of the Fire Nation. But first, we have to find my Grandfather. Any news."

"I haven't heard anything."

"well, we'll keep looking."

_____________________________________________________________________

Time passed and Kai spent days at the bay, practicing his waterbending with an iron determination. While Long Wei constantly petitioned to move inland towards Ba Sing Se to liberate colonies and recruit more Fire Nation people who also wanted change. Kai was adamant that Kyoshi Island was where he needed to be.

In a moment of compromise, Kai sent Long Wei inland to search for Jeong Jeong. Under the strict condition that Kyoshi Island remains a secret. Kai understood that Long Wei would liberate places from Fire Nation control, though he didn't want to put their position on the Fire Lords radar.

When Suki wasn't with the Kyoshi warriors or Kai, she used the scrolls from the library to teach herself a few sword styles that fit her katana, a fan technique, and a lost dagger throwing technique. The Kyoshi warriors and White Dragon rebels were also privy to the ancient scrolls after Kai looked through them thoroughly for knowledge that interested him.

Over the course of half a year, Kyoshi Island and the world changed. Thanks to the ancient scrolls, Kai and the villagers built irrigation systems that watered crops without the need for Kai's waterbending. This doubled the harvest with less than half the effort.

Kai also found a few earthbenders to build a wall at the bay. When the wall was finished, He and the other firebenders forged large steel doors that attached to the bay wall and acts as the only access point from the bay to the rest of the island.

Kai and Suki were laying naked and entangled atop of the bay wall when a bright flash erupted in the sky. Just by eyeballing it, Kai assumed that the Tide Riders were about one thousand miles out.

"That's the distress flare." Suki gasped.

Kai pushed himself up and dressed. " I know," he said. "Ring the bell. I'll go ahead, but I need a ship sent right away. The biggest one we have."

"The biggest?" Suki asked confused.

"The merchant ships were on a mission to the North People. I wanted to rebuild the Southern Water Tribe and use it as a strategic position. So besides goods, they may have people from the North if everything went well. We can't let those ships sink, ring the bell!"

Kai leapt off of the wall and used bursts of flames to ease his landing on the beach. A rush of ocean water then shot in his direction, pulling him in.

A moment later, Kai erupted upon a wave of water the moving in the direction of the Tide Riders. As the village rushed to the bay wall, Suki hurried to dress and issue an order to man a ship and follow Kai.

Even though she wanted to command the ship, Oyaji convinced her to stay in the village in case the worse came to pass. The feeling of leaving Kai out there on his own ate at her insides, but she resolved herself and remained strong for the village as they prepared for an attack.

On the ocean, Kai was moving at a speed faster than a Fire Nation speed boat. His only goal was to make it to the Tide Riders before damage beyond repair occurred. As Kai arrived he observed a Two Fire Nation attack ships and a warship. It was a bit bigger than the ships used by Tide Riders, but the flaming rocks that it hurled were the true problem. Pillars of water erupted from the ocean as Waterbenders fought off the fire nation.

Boom! A blazing rock ripped through a Tide Rider ship like a meteorite.

Kai waved his arm in smooth flowing motions, ending with strong abrupt snaps, the water beneath the Tide Rider ship froze and kept the ship from sinking. Kai was then launched from the wave and landed on the ship. His eyes then turned milky white and the water in the ocean came alive and waited for Kai's orders.

Looking up to the Fire Nation ship, Kai spoke with a powerful unflinching voice. "Surrender and you will find a home amongst fire nation brethren that wish to end this endless war and live a life of peace and prosperity. Fight, and I will kill you all."

A small number of soldiers weighed his words until the captain shouted. "A firebender without the Fire Lord is no brethren!"

The soldiers snapped back and launched balls and streams of fire. Kai moved like the waves and the blood bath commenced. Using a crowd control technique, Overturning the Moon, Kai brought an overwhelming comber that swallowed the two attack ships with frightening ease.

Effortless and flawless like a dragon, his body swayed and the ocean beneath the Fire Nation warship froze, immobilizing the ship. Though the warship continued to fire and rained destruction on three of the fire Tide Rider Ships.

"Into the water!" Kai shouted. " All of the Waterbenders follow me!"

Kai jumped from the ship and landed on the surface of the ocean backed by Twenty Waterbenders.

"We will create layer after layer of Glacier walls to protect our people. Have any of you ever learned the technique, Water Lance?" Kai asked.

The benders remained quiet until one man spoke up. " I have," he said.

"And you are?"

"Ambassador Orik."

"Well Ambassador, you're coming with me." Kai then pushed down and a wave carried him to the warship. Orik followed closely as the two weaved to dodge Fire Nation attacks.

Back with the Tide Riders, the Waterbenders fashioned glacier walls after glacier walls, building an igloo-like defense on the water.

"Captain, what should we do?" a Tide Rider asked.

"We help the White Dragon. Half of you need to stand in front of the wall and redirect that artillery. That will give the Waterbenders time to strengthen the defenses. I will lead the other half to the warship." Said the Captain.

A moment later the average looking man shocked all the people of the Water Tribe when he burst from the water with jets of propelling flames. The Tide Riders all exchanged looks then followed their captain's orders. One after the other, the Tide Riders began to expose themselves as firebenders.

On Kai's orders, the Tide Riders were sent to trade with the Northern Water Tribe and act as secret envoys to request assistance from the Northern Tribe to help rebuild the Southern. Their Firebending was never revealed in order to increase their chances of success.

In front of the glaciers. The Tide Riders countered the enemy artillery with collective fire blasts. The Waterbenders were forced to smother their shock and contempt for the sake of their immediate survival.

Upon the warship, the soldiers themselves were flabbergasted to see Firebenders protecting the enemy and launching an assault against them.

"Captain Gou! Form Destroy those weapons! I want that warship!"

Captain Gou and his men remembered their time in the Fire Nation Navy and sent a barrage of attacks known as Shooting Stars at the oil reserves near the deck of the ship.

one of the deadliest flaws of the Navy was their overconfidence in the manipulation of fire. The leakage of oil during battle was never a concern of theirs as a result. As wisps of flames and tiny embers hit the deck, random fires were set and put out until a barrel oil exploded and started a chain reaction. The Catapult was blown to pieces and the soldiers on the deck were severely injured.

"Now, Orik!" Kai shouted and the two men danced on the surface of the ocean and created two individual, high-speed rotary lances that were fired through the hull of the ship.

Shunk, Shick, Crack! The Tide Riders didn't hesitate to cut down as many enemies as they could, the moment they landed on the ship.

Boom! A ball of fire crashed into a warrior. Kai and Orik were the next to land on the ship. Kai watched as the display of skill and wonderful form though Orik's battle experience just wasn't there.

Whoosh! A meteor shower like barrage fell down on the Tide Riders Before they could hit, Kai used a small hurricane to hold himself up in the air as he collected the scorching fire rain and denoted the flames of his enemy as a counter-attack, clearing the balcony of the command tower.

Kai pushed himself out of the water vortex and landed on the balcony before spit fire from his mouth. The flames engulfed everything in the command tower.

Sounds of agonizing screams bellowed from the Fire Nation soldiers that were bathed in fire. Kai suddenly dropped to the deck and waterbent a dome to cover his allies. Kai went through a series of motions and a tidal wave buried the fire nation warship. Kai didn't stop there, his eyes went milky white as he took a deep breath, pushing downward, the already sinking ship was pulled deeper into the ocean.

Kai drowned them all. As the air in the dome began to thin, Kai Waterbended the ship full of dead soldiers back to the surface, ending the battle.

"You are a Waterbender. I thought all of the Waterbenders of the southern tribe had gone extinct." A man with long dark hair, dressed in thick water tribe clothing spoke.

"I believe my mother was one of the last. And as far as I know, there aren't anymore Waterbenders in the south. My name is Kai Jeong. Welcome to the south."

The people of the water tribe bowed and gave their greetings and thanks as well. A group of forty warriors and Twenty Waterbenders. Six of which are healers. As the Tide Riders waited for a rescue ship. The warriors that needed healing were submerged in water as a woman named, Suyin, healed them with her bending.

Kai watched in awe of her amazing abilities. Suyin was shocked by his interest in her healing. She explained that many men in the northern water tribe, mostly all of the men, saw healing as a woman's occupation. She then revealed that healing was actually the only water bending that she knew. Actual combat techniques were reserved solely for the men of the tribe.

Kai found it appalling. Many of the techniques that he had been practicing from the Wan Shi Scrolls were created by women. Even in the Fire Nation, Women were some of the most deadly warriors in the nation. Because of this, Kai invited Suyin to his home on Kyoshi and asked to be taught the healing techniques of her tribe.

Suyin happily accepted as the men looked at Kai with odd faces.

"So how is it that you can bend both fire and water?" Orik asked He was an older gentleman with salt and pepper hair, the designated ambassador sent by the chief of the northern water tribe.

"I am the dragon of the sun and the moon," Kai replied.

"Or the cycle has restarted and you are the next Avatar." Orik retorted.

"I am not, the Avatar. Nor do I have any wish to be the Avatar. Another ship is on its way to take us to Kyoshi Island. From there, we will take you to the southern water tribe where you will speak to the son of Chief Hakoda, Sokka. But in the end, it is the Council of Elders you must sway. Specifically, Hakoda's mother, Kanna" Kai explained

"Of course." Orik bowed once more to Kai.

Just like the day his Fire Nation allies witnessed him waterbend for the first time, the people of the Water Tribe had a distinct glimmer in their eyes when the looked at Kai.

Kai then gave the order to his men to repair the Tide Rider ships. With the help of the water bender. Every drop sunken ship was salvaged and completely removed of water, saving it from further damage. The repairs were swiftly made before moving on to the Fire Nation ship.

Upon the back of a massive white-furred Flying Bison. Sokka and Katara fly with a bald head young boy with a full-bodied blue arrow tattoo.

"Wow I don't remember such a great wall being here. I guess everything has changed." The young boy spoke with a little sadness.

"Aang, I think we should land at the docks. This could be an Earthbending outpost" Sokka spoke with a concerned look.

Atop of the great wall. Soldiers stood in blue and crimson red battle armor. In the port, was a great ship and a couple of smaller wooden ships.

"I think Sokka's right, Aang." Katara added.

As the Aang landed his Flying Bison on the docks, nothing happened. The soldiers on the wall just watched. Aang took this as a sign of good faith and went to the beach to introduce Sokka and Katara to the Elephant Koi - a massive white and orange Koi fish indigenous to Kyoshi Bay.

As the siblings watched their young friends show off his surfing skills, Suki led a group of Kyoshi Warriors to a part of the wall guarded by two Earthbenders.

"Open the wall," Suki commanded.

The Earthbenders didn't hesitate to bend a passageway through the wall. Suki and her women slipped through and the passageway was promptly sealed.

The Kyoshi Warriors creep through a stretch of woods before reaching the beach. The waited in the trees as Aang ran on the water to escape the pursuit of the Unagi, a great water serpent that guarded Kyoshi Bay.

The moment Aang crashed into Sokka, Suki and her warriors dropped out of the air and captured the trio along with pets.

Sometime later, Aang, Sokka, and Katar were tied to a post just outside of the village.

"You three have some explaining to do." Said Oyaji

"And if you don't answer all of our questions. We're throwing you back in the water with the Unagi." Added Suki.

"Show yourself, Cowards!" Shouted a blindfolded Sokka.

Suki reached for his blindfold and ripped it off. Revealing the band of women warriors dressed in their traditional Kyoshi uniforms.

"Who are you? Where are the men who ambushed us?" Sokka questioned.

"There were no men, we ambushed you." Suki retorted while stepping forward with aggressive finger-pointing. "Now tell us. Who are you and what are you doing here?"

Sokka's face contorted, he then leaned forward against his bindings and said, " Wait a second. There's no way a bunch of girls took us down."

Suki launched forward and snatched the ignorant boy by the collar. " A bunch of girls huh? The Unagi's going to eat well tonight."

Katara became frantic. "No!" she shouted. "Don't hurt him! He didn't mean it! My brother's just an idiot sometimes."

Suki looked at Katara and studied her body language when she decided that the group just might be harmless. Suki then released Sokka's collar and Aang spoke up.

"It's my fault," he said. "I'm sorry we came here. I wanted to ride the Elephant Koi."

"How do we know you're not Fire Nation spies?" Oyaji asked with a stern voice. "Kyoshi has stayed out of the war so far and we intend to keep it that way."

"This island is named for Kyoshi?" asked Aang. "I know Kyoshi."

"Ha!" Oyaji recoiled with anger and disbelief. "How could you possibly know her? Avatar Kyoshi was born here 400 years ago. She's been dead for centuries."

Aang looked up at the statue above the post he was tied to. He then lowered his head and said, " I know her because I'm the Avatar."

Everyone exchanged looks of disbelief. "That's impossible. The last Avatar was an Airbender who disappeared 100 years ago." Suki argued.

"That's me," Aang replied nonchalantly.

"Throw the imposter to the Unagi" Oyaji shouted. The Kyoshi Warriors readied their fans and the White Dragon faction readied themselves in the shadows.

"Aang, do some Airbending," Katara whispered.

The warriors launched forward to cease them when Aang shot 30 feet into the air with a gust of wind. His binding snap and his orange and yellowish clothing flap in the wind as he coasts back down, leaving everyone gasping and praising his bending art amongst themselves.

No one had ever seen Airbending before. The Nomads were wiped out decades ago when the Avatar initially disappeared.

"It's true… You are the Avatar, Oyaji gasped.

"Now, check this out!" Aang pulled out metal balls and began to use bending to make them spin in a fast circle between his palms. The crowd cheered and praised the young Airbender as he performed with a joyous look.

While the new arrival of the Avatar is worth celebration. It would set off a chain of events that would take the one hundred year war to a level it had never reached before...
