Just a Dark Hallway

Yet explosions quickly followed as well. Arm bleeding all over. I pushed myself up and hobbled towards the door frame in my power armor. Following the sound of Spanish cussing I found Esperanza and the Gunner bickering. Sounds of another distant explosion wafted down the halls to us and I asked,

"What's going on?!"

"This idiota trapped us here with mines!"

"You saw me doing it! You even said it was smart at the time you bucket of bolts!"

"How about both of you shut the hell up and start looking around for weapons! You fight like cats in heat and on their period!"

"That locked door senõr! It might have a way of escape!"

"I don't have anything to pick it with!" I spat.

I looked to the Gunner girl who had part of her hair pinned up in a sloppy bun. I put my palm out, demanding, "Pins."

"Seriously?!"

At that moment I saw the shadow of the hall next to us. A silhouette with a board was running towards us. The size of the brute was exaggerated by the shadows yet he wailed,

"HUMAN-!" The warcry was cut short by an exploding mine. Shrapnel took out the light in the hall next to us and hunks of flesh bounced around the corner.

"Idiotas!" Esperanza chimed, a proud chirp to her voice.

We looked over and there she was. Door already open. She must have picked it without a pin. Maybe her arms had a tool or she repurposed that bullet removing magnet.

"Run!"

Howling and ululating followed us but the next mutant on our tail pulsed with red light.

"BOOM! HAHA! BOOM! FOR THE GREEN STUFF! FOR SUPER MUTANTS! BOOM!"

"Ah hell!" The Gunner screamed and I gripped her in my power armor and tossed her through the door before closing it behind me. We braced for an explosion but none followed.

"Stop brother! Bear has a plan for humans!"

They must've lowered their voices as they talked and I didn't waste time to push a bookcase in front of the door.

"Bah! That's stupid! Why no BOOOOM?!" He practically screamed the last part before being slapped.

"OBEY." The other growled.

"Are they gone senõr?"

I picked up another bookcase in my power armor and stacked it on the other. With one hand I slid a desk in front of it all to hopefully finish the barricade. We waited and all jumped when the door vibrated.

"Wait till I kick this door down human! I will drink from your skull!"

"Is-is that a Gordo Hombre?!"

"Is that a what?!" I spat as I spun to see what she was on about this time.

Is my Luck like 20 or something? Because I just got a, as Sturges says, 'cherry' Fatman just laying there. No nukes though, I glanced back at the door and smirked as a plan to remedy that came into my head. That would have to wait.

(A/N: Loot inspired by the wiki. I'm not going all out with the maps and layout though as you can tell.)

"Alright," my hands and voice shaking from the adrenaline rush, "quick inventory."

"Shotgun, AR-10's, all my team's 10mm and laser pistols, all my team's grenades, some flares and a few Molotovs I snagged when I wasn't placing mines."

"Just Molotovs?" I asked, suspicious of whether or not she was hiding a gun from me.

"Thought they were booze for a second to be honest. Little disappointed."

"Did you snag more shotgun shells?"

I was interrupted by a vibration in the cement. The light fixture above me burning on nuclear power shook side to side. Maybe a car exploded in the streets above?

"Was there a fight forming when we came in here?"

"There were dozens of beds we passed so there's probably more Raider's out there. Heard the party or saw the mutants coming after us."

"You're awfully calm for someone who could die in the next five minutes."

She gave me that unhinged smile from when she tried to kill me and replied, "I like blowing stuff up."

Crap, better not stick dick in crazy. I let out a sigh, because I started stressing a little bit. Her numbness or insanity or whatever was more helpful now than questions about what the plan was. Because honestly my original, already half-cooked plan, had gone out the window.

She actually made me chuckle. Herbert "Daring" Dashwood from the radio drama on GNR said the wasteland needed more women with spunk and explosives. God, I hadn't played Fallout 3 in years. Fallout 4 is already over seven years old as well.

"Well," the Gunner added as she lit a cigarette, "guess the locked door kept the Raiders out."

We advanced a few step into the dim hall and my foot kicked something. I turned on my Pipboy light and was greeted by a rotting Raider, black rot marks where the guts seemed to be strewn down the path we were forced to follow. I couldn't tell if it was a man or woman because it was nearly mummified at this point.

As if on cue there was a squeal and hissing noise that retreated down deeper into the darkness. We stood there in the silence as water dripped somewhere and I resisted the urge to crap my pants. Esperanza stated perfectly,

"Rather, it looks like the Raiders locked something IN."
