Daily Quest 2

If there were the geniuses who excelled in magic power, there were those who excelled in physical strength as well—one model was the man named Arundel. He was exceptionally good at swordsmanship, archery, and mounted combat.

The King had favored him for his outstanding performance in the expedition troop, promoting him as the knight commander at such a young age. Since then, Arundel had been serving the King for two decades.

Eddra had only seen him once when his team and Arundel's troop had crossed paths. The unexpected meeting was caused by the strange occurrence in the forest, west border of the Principality of Bertyr.

The Principality of Bertyr, the reward of the King from the excellent expedition that his son, the Crown Prince himself, discovered and obtained by the tribes indwelling in the land. It was said that the Crown Prince named it after his dead mother's family name, the second Queen.

With the same objective to take an abrupt visit to the traitor's land, their parties were supposed to break in through different directions.

Arundel's troops surveyed the area, however, they would always end up returning back to the camp, informing them that it felt as if someone was watching as they seek deeper the forest, and just before they knew it, they had already walked back to their starting point.

The knight major and the knight commander of the expedition army, Arundel, concluded then that they were being hunted by a high ranked mage, which why they had crossed paths unknowingly.

For certain, the magic it was using was extremely high, preventing them to pursue any further. In the end, no matter what measures they would use, both parties could not enter the land.

Delivering the message to the Royal Commandery of the Kingdom, the Grandmaster told them they had to stop the operation from the impossible tasked and would proceed to operate after they had a meeting, pondering the right measures.

The short time of his encounter with Arundel, Eddra had the chance to see his exceptional troop members. Each member of the troop was simply tremendous in physical strength and in fighting intelligence as well.

'... So, what are they doing here? Don't tell me that Mother's closest friend is...'

He could not finish his thought and immediately, the hair on his neck erected. Eddra did not notice this until now since it never crossed his mind. How powerful was his mother in high society?

If it was not her peers that had the ability to order two famous mages to deliver a simple cloth, then they themselves were the extraordinary ones. Did the [System] knew about this, which why it told him to seek his mother's help?

"Ah! Sorry, man. Did we interrupt you?"

"Maybe if you didn't speak, then we would not be disturbing him."

It was difficult to say that these two people were of the same age as Eddra. It was not because of their physique but the emerging aura around them.

Eddra was not comfortable meeting them unexpectedly. Lowering the wooden sword, his grip on the handle tighten as he felt intimidated even when the two men were a couple of meters away from his position.

"It's fine. Are you guys with the gentleman?" Eddra asked.

When the shorter one was about to answer him, the man beside him with the shoulder-length hair moved forward before his fellow could speak. "No, Lord Orhom. We've just arrived a while ago, and the Commander will do the same in an hour."

"Please do not use honorifics on me because I—us—will be treated the same way as anyone else in the training course." Other than this, his father still hadn't announced his heir since he was called to assist the King.

'And it's weirder for the monsters to call me a Lord...' A sweat fell from his forehead to his cheek. Eddra did not want to hear them using honorifics on him, it was the other way around. He was the one who wanted to call them with respect.

"... As you wish. Then, we will take our leave now. Our apologies for disturbing you," was the man's reply as he pushed down the shorter guy with him to do a bow, and then left him alone his training place.

Without any audience left anymore, this was when Eddra blew out sharply, not aware that he was holding his breath when he was in front of the two men.

"Now... that made me realize how inferior I am." He was irritated knowing how small he was, simply by meeting two members of the expedition troops.

Shaking his thoughts, Eddra released his anger to the practice dummy that he was hitting.

...

Ding! Ding! Ding!

[Updating the System... ]

Eddra laid down the ground, using the green grass as his mattress. He would take deep breaths and blew out slowly while he listened to the sounds ringing in his ears, waiting for the [System] to update itself.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

[You have acquired 'Item Stats'.]

['Wallet' has been added to 'Inventory']

[To scan the stats of an item, state 'Item Stats' while looking at the target.]

With a little energy left to question what it can do, Eddra raised the sword in his hand before him just the moment he read the information on the plate.

'[Item Stats]', he stated the command in his head.

Ding!

"Agh. This command is amazing..." Eddra lazily commented. He felt like he could not move a muscle anymore. "And what is this orb credits? Is this the [System] currency?"

Rereading the information from the plate, not only the reward gave him a new command, he also noticed that there was a new feature added in the [Inventory].

Immediately checking it, he surveyed for the new changes. There was a new feature in the bottom left corner of the landscape plate, and it was the [Wallet].

It was empty, but he was certain that he could fill up the zero and earn money for the [System]'s currency. However, Eddra was troubled to where and how would he sell his items, or in what way could he earn [Credits].

He wondered if the [Daily Quest] would reward him a new feature again tomorrow and maybe, it would be the feature where he could finally make money. Just by thinking about money made him thrilled.

Laughing on his own with a smug expression painted on his face, Eddra opened his [Status] to consume the points he had received.

Ding!

Eddra pressed to decrease his [Strength] since he failed to do so yesterday, however, he still could not do it today as well. He concluded that, perhaps, the [Base Stats] would lock itself once Eddra used all the remaining points. Shrugging, he simply moved his hand and increase what he desired on this day.

"I don't know what this does but, hopefully, I am doing it right," he muttered to himself, getting up from laying on the ground.

Eddra was not sure if he had completed the [Quest] early after spending his points in the [Base Stats] or he had finished it faster than yesterday since he did not take any breaks. Either way, he would simply assume that both were the reason behind it.

"The lunch should be ready by now..."

He hadn't felt any difference in his [Strength] though. Perhaps he needed a few spar rounds for a trial.

...

"Milord," a taut voice called for him, coming from behind him while he was silently readying himself for the lunch.

With the sudden appearance of the butler, Eddra was taken aback. "Ack!" He subconsciously held on his clothing's lapel tighter. "What?!"

Eddra looked with his eyes widen at Gale. "The Baroness and the guests are waiting for you in the west wing's dining area."

"Okay..."

"Where were you earlier?"

Avoiding the butler's gaze, Eddra fixed his suit. "Huh...? I'm around the mansion though..."

"You're planning to do something troublesome again, Milord?"

"No! Do you think of me as a troublemaker?"

"Yes," Gale answered within a second, making Eddra rolled his eyes to the annoying old man.
